Price was right but it has its downsides. There is no way to turn off the child lockout feature. Would be nice if it could be turned off. The way it starts is a bit unnerving. Has a weird sound when you press a number and it starts microwaving. Add 30 sec button would be nice but the models with that were a lot more money too. Time will tell if this lasts because they don’t make things like they used to

The microwave is exactly as we wanted. There are not many white microwaves available these days; but, GE had one. Very familiar as it was much like our previous microwave that simply aged out. Controls are easy to use & understand. Power level is perfect for our 2 person needs. Size is as needed. Thus far, we are very happy with our purchase.

Unlike most microwaves this one has a door lock feature. If you try to open it before cook time is finished, as people often do, it only takes a few times before a tiny piece of plastic on the flimsy plastic latch inside the door breaks, a switch won't close and the device no longer functions.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This GE microwave oven has Good basic functions and operation. Does almost everything I need from a microwave, but do miss the "soften butter" operation a previous GE had. Also, I would be willing to pay a bit more if this model also came with the options to get upgraded interior materials (like stainless steel, or porcelain), otherwise it is a very rugged and great unit.

This GE countertop microwave is an identical replacement for the Whirlpool model WMC30516HZ microwave which has been discontinued. Even the trim kits are identical including all the mounting hardware. The only difference is the GE is shinier than the Whirlpool. The GE trim kit is also shinier and matches the microwave perfectly. The reason for the 4 star rating is that the Whirlpool unit was extremely easy to use and worked great but only lasted 3 1/2 years. I suspect that we will not see much longer use from the GE model.

We found the controls not user friendly. There were too many steps to accomplish the simplest tasks. For example if you press 20 sec to heat something it gives you a food message. I think you then have to choose power level then start. Too many steps for every action.

We have had the same microwave for over 15 years of constant use and abuse!! Finally she gave out and purchased the same model! A few new options have been added but still the same quality of a GE! Here’s to another 15 years! Just might out last us!!!

I just purchased this microwave oven as a "refresh" for a very similar GE model I have been using for more years than I can remember. The old one still works fine. I intend to clean it up the best I can and store it in my detached garage in case it is needed in a pinch. The only reason the previous model is going into semi retirement is I allowed the inside to become stained and frankly I am embarrassed of my neglect of this faithful old friend. I trust the same workmanship went into the newer one and look forward having many years of reliable service from it.

This unit is a replacement for an identical unit that failed twice. First time I was able to replace the high temp thermostat. Second failure was undetermined but the controls went berserk and the display flickered and occasionally showed "Power Fail". At this point I gave up. Wife only wants white and this GE unit is the only thing available locally in White. So, we bought another one. This time I also purchased the retailers 3 year replacement coverage. FYI, the first one did last long enough to pass out of the warranty period.

I love how easy it is to operate. I am replacing my previous microwave with this one because it is almost identical to my old one. I don't need the door lock feature so I disabled it. That was easy to do. You don't know how much you use your microwave until it breaks.
