Within an hour of plugging it in, it already captured a tiny fruit fly. I've used a similar product in the past and it doubles well as a night light. I'm pleased with it so far.

I live in a canyon filled with fields of trees, flowers, and everything you can find outside. There's so much beauty living on top of the world with open views of the city however, one of the downsides are BUGS!!! Yes, we have every bug and pest one can think of. I personally attract all the biting bugs that think I'm desert on a platter! This is why I purchased STEM. When I open my doors I can't keep everything out. Fruit flys, mosquitoes, gnats, and moths all love coming indoors especially at night because they're attracted to the light. I control them with STEM. STEM has a light in the front and a sticky back. The light attracts all these bugs that love to bite me or get into my food and then they get trapped on the back side. STEM is people and pet friendly, and insecticide free. In my opinion, every home needs a few of these for each room.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I’ve used one of these before but I liked this one a lot more than the brand I used previously. It’s much more lightweight and much stickier. Needless to say, I had 5 or 6 flies attached to it the morning after I plugged it in!

It lights up blue and is supposed to attract insects to the cartridge. Insects are attracted to. They get stuck on the sticky cartridge. When the cartridge is full of insects it is time to change the cartridge.

I have several pets and have so much peace of mind knowing this product is non toxic and will not cause them harm. This was very simple to use and starting seeing a reduction in flies immediately. I like that the blue light is soft and not distracting.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I’m not a big fan of chemical insect traps in the house, so I found the STEM traps interesting. I have a set that comes with a bulb and one cartridge in the box. The light from the bulb attracts the insects, and then they stick to the cartridge. Once the cartridge is full, we just need to replace it with a new one. I like that it’s eco-friendly and safe for the residents of the house. Also, the trap has a nice design; if you didn’t know, it looks like a neat little lamp, and I really like that design. I believe this is a must-have product for the home. The price is affordable, and later you can simply buy more cartridges. I highly recommend it!

But, I have had this trap up for over a week and have only caught one tiny fly/gnat. This is placed by my back door. I live in an area with a large mosquito population. I don’t see many in my house but I assumed it would trap a few.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] When I initially set up the devices, I waited 24 hours to see if they caught anything. The sticky pads were completely clean. I filed a return request and then packed one up. I moved the other device to a different room, just in the hopes that maybe, MAYBE it'd catch something there. And boy did it. Holy smokes. The other one caught so many flies it looked like the sticky pad had been dipped into a jar of flies (where my Alice in Chains fans at? lol. But seriously...). I cancelled the return request, unpacked the second device and moved it into different room than where I had placed it previously, where it ended up working very well too. Here's some advice if you're not having luck with these: 1) Place the device in a room where it won't be competing with other light sources, especially sunlight. For instance, there're no windows in my bathrooms, neither one gets very much light from any nearby windows, and it is absolutely comical how many flies the devices catch in there. When I initially set them out, they were in my kitchen, which is open to the living room with a large window in it, so they both receive a lot of light for nearly 2/3rds of the day, so these devices did not catch anything there. 2) To really be effective against fruit flies, take away competing temptations such as food and places to lay eggs. And I do mean FORGET the finicky home made vinegar traps that seem to trap only a few, less evolved flies dumb enough to try to land directly on the liquid, and just feeds the rest (who thank you, btw). If it's possible for you, store fruits and veggies that you might typically keep out on your counter or wherever in your fridge until the population has been reduced. If you are able, only throw "dry" trash away in your trash bins (non-food related paper type stuff), and throw "wet" trash such as food discards and wet paper towels into smaller grocery bags (maybe double bag it tho) and place that bag in the refrigerator or freezer, somewhere where it's not coming into contact with food and beverages, until you're ready to put it outside your home to be collected. And if you're wondering what to do for areas that do have competing light sources, personally I use the SafeHome uv type devices and they work very well where the STEM ones don't. Or, get yourself a nice fly swatter, wait for them to congregate on a window or a large white surface during daylight hours and then smack the crap out of 'em. You'll of course need some glass cleaner and newspaper or other wipes to clean the surface afterward, but such is the price of fruit fly war.

The light is perfect as night light. It is easy to setup. The refill seems has a good sticky trap and it is on both sides. This will help my house free from insects. It is safe for pet so it works well at my house. I love it.
