Because the female mosquito flies away after laying eggs, dead adult mosquitos will not be found in the station. While contaminated adult mosquitos will die within 9 days, this product primarily targets larvae. The larvae may be alive in the station but will die before they mature to adults. To confirm that a station is working you can look for larvae in the water of the station. Larvae in the station may be alive but will die before they mature to adults. A notable reduction in the mosquito population should be seen in 2-3 weeks. Hi RalphG, we are sorry for any confusion, you will not find dead mosquitoes in your Ortho Home Defense Mosquito Kill & Prevent. Once mosquitos enter the station, they lay their eggs and become contaminated with the dual-action formula. They then exit the station, continuing their natural breeding behavior, and spread the control formula to other breeding sites they visit.
