[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This mosquito management system works! I have been using this for a little over a month and we can tell a big difference. The assembly of the system takes minutes and the only maintenance is making sure it has water and replacing the band monthly. The only advice I have is to place this away from where you will spend time outdoors.

The idea makes sense, but since they don’t drop dead on the spot, there’s no visible proof that anything’s happening. The setup and application were easy.

I’ve pretty well removed all sources of standing water on our property but skeeters keep coming. Tried citronella candles, garlic spray with leaf blower, mosquito dunks in gutters even though they drain but those little biters keep coming. Saw this product and giving it a try. EXCELLENT INSTRUCTIONS, product very sturdy and well made and easy to assemble. My suggestion on assembly is to open refill package into the DRY container. That way, all product safely put in container. When attaching the REFILL BAND to the FLOATER, it has “dog ears” on bottom. Attach to one side and then push the band towards the attached end. This will force the band to open and expand to make it more circular when you release it. Makes it easier to properly attach to float. I then placed it on level surface and then slowly filled with tap water to mark inside. Started to fill it with reclaimed rain water so no chlorine or smell but for now followed instructions. When you put the lid on it doesn’t secure until you put the red cap on. Red cap also has a circular disc numbered 1-12 so you can mark the month serviced. Also put in area where kids and critters cannot reach as if it turns over, everything is on the ground. Plan to try to update post at end of month where hopefully it gets 5 Stars when I have fewer bite marks.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Ortho Home Defense Mosquito Kill & Prevent Starter Kit is easy to set-up and use. The starter set comes with two refills, each lasting a month. I have had this up for almost a month and while I haven't see a decrease in activity, I also haven't seen an increase, which we usually would at this time. I think it will take a little longer to verify if it is working for sure, but based on seeing mosquito eggs on the water when I refill, I would say it is starting to do its job. For a DIY treatment option, I believe this would be a good option mosquito control.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We put this in our backyard a few days ago. We have noticed that there were no mosquitoes. Our yard is usually full of them that we cannot go into our yard without being bit. I am now able to sit in my yard without worrying about being bit!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I setup the Ortho Home Defense Mosquito Kill and Prevent station a couple of days before the Fourth of July Holiday. We still had some mosquitos , but perhaps I did not set it up to give the chemicals the amount of time to work properly.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] When I first heard about this I thought it was an awesome concept as long as it works. One box covers a very large area and the starter kit comes with 2 refills, which is enough for 2 months. It is easy to set up, though I recommend wearing disposable gloves because the powder is very fine. I like that the red lock-in piece has a monthly counter on it so it is easy to track when to add the next refill. The directions mention making sure to top up the water to the fill line due to evaporation, but so far I haven't needed to do this. It has been set up for about 11 days. I noticed the larva swimming around so I was concerned that this wasn't working, but the next day I saw less larva swimming around and noticed all the dead ones that had sunk to the bottom. The mosquitos are using the box and the larva are dying, so I call this a win.

This year with all the rain the mosquitos have been more active, when I wanted to sit on my deck they would swarm us. Since putting this out, the mosquito activity has noticeably decreased.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I'm pleasantly surprised at how effective this Ortho Home Defense Mosquito Kill and Prevent trap works. I assembled the unit in less than 2 minutes...very easy. I sat it out on my patio where mosquitoes have always been an issue. Three days later, my neighbor was sitting with me ans mentioned how he was not being eaten by mosquitoes like happens on his deck...he's since gotten one for himself!!!
