I researched the mess out of mattresses before making this decision. Some were literally 10x what I paid for Purple and some were similar in form and function. Based on other reviews and having friends that let us lay on theirs, we put the order in. I expected a steep learning curve. I've had trouble sleeping (took over an hour to fall asleep every night) for years and have awakened every morning with back and joint pain for the last few. I'm a large man, sleep hot and a stomach sleeper so I wanted something that worked with all those things. Night #1 - I don't remember shifting around and tossing and turning at all. I also don't remember falling asleep - which is to say all the things I usually think about as I'm falling asleep. And... I rolled out of bed with no back pain. I've already talked three friends into buying one - seriously, there needs to be a referral program!!! I'm your best salesman! We are finishing week #4 on it and every night but one was exactly like that. (Too much on my mind that one night) Icing on the cake? My wife and I just returned home from an overnight anniversary trip to a ritzy hotel that bragged about their beds. I tossed and turned and my back hurts! I can't wait to sleep in my Purple tonight. For my wife, I'd say this. She had a tougher time the first few nights adjusting to it, but still woke up with no back pain or soreness. She's a back/side sleeper. She loves it now after getting used to it. Yes, I'd buy it again. In a heartbeat.

First and foremost, I love the purple bed. It's very comfortable and keeps me cool at night. I've even stopped having back pain in the morning which was a pleasant surprise. Customer service though is not good. The people are nice but it takes forever to get a response by email and on the phone is like pulling teeth. Get the mattress but be prepared for some frustration from the company.

My wife and I have had our CalKing mattress for going on a couple months. We were somewhat surprised that it seemed firmer than our old memory foam one, but actually sleeping on it has been quite comfortable. My wife sleeps on her side and had previously complained of back pain, but no more. We also purchased the mattress protector as our other was too bulky and did not conform properly. We also bought 1 pillow - it's quite heavy and relatively flat. My wife tried it first and said it made her ear ache. I'm using it and loving it, no problems and sleep on my stomach or side. Overall very pleased. Hoping it holds up over the company ng years. And oh yeah, it is heavy! Really liked the handles on it to make lugging it upstairs easier.

Honestly a great sturdy bed. Very comfortable. I have scoliosis and this bed has already improved my back pain. The mattress shapes to your body. I love that the mattress doesn't get warm while laying on it because I like to be cold when I'm sleeping. Overall a great purchase, I should have bought a long time ago.

My roommates laughed when I purchased a mattress that was twice as expensive as their mattresses combined... I had the last laugh when it came in and was laid out. Everyone who has come over to try it out says its the most comfortable mattress they have ever laid on. It took about 2 weeks of sleeping on it before my body adjusted but now I wake up and feel refreshed, no longer starting my day with a back cracking session, something I have done for about 10 years. It is not too firm and gives just enough. I bought this mattress on a gamble, having never tried one before, and I must say it was well worth it!

I bought my Purple genuinely excited by the prospect of an amazing night's sleep. The ads and the science seemed to be speaking right to my needs. That said, you can imagine my supreme disappointment to be requesting a refund after less than a month. First, the good. Purple, as a company, is AMAZING!! They were a dream to deal with in requesting and receiving my refund. They absolutely held up their end of the bargain. 10 stars for their policies and customer service!! The bed, unfortunately, did not provide the restful nights I anticipated despite performing exactly as advertised. The purple gel layer was SOOOOO cool (to the touch and just in general). It felt so unusual in every sense of the word. Pressing my hands into it, I could feel it push back with support and then suddenly give as just the right amount of pressure caused it to flex around my fingers. I couldn't wait to sleep on it. The first few nights were...OK. I didn't sleep great, but they said I'd need time to adjust. I knew that any day my body would recognize the superior sleeping surface it was now being provided and my joint and muscle pains would melt away. After a few more nights, I was beginning to wonder what the problem was. I tossed and turned ALL night. I simply couldn't find a position that would allow me to stay asleep. Now, full disclosure, I'm a big guy. Large frame, about 280. I've had my previous mattress about 10 years. It's an inner spring with a pillow top and it's honestly given me some of the best nights of sleep I've ever had. It's just old and ready to be put to pasture or I wouldn't be in the market. After a few more nights on the Purple, I was able to pinpoint exactly the flaws in the design. First off, it's too thin. This was most apparent during "amorous" activities when I could feel the support platform under my knees with seemingly very little padding. I'm a big guy, so I can't fault them for not providing more foundation foam. I may simply be too large for the bed. The other issue, anyone of any size would likely experience. As I said before, the gel layer provides support until a certain threshold of force is applied. This is ostensibly to accommodate pressure points. The problem is when two connected body parts find themselves on opposite sides of that threshold. It was most notable in my shoulders and knees. My back, being part of the bulk of my body, would depress the gel beyond the crush threshold. My arms, however, would not. This led to my body and arms being supported to two different degrees at two completely different levels. The pressure under my arms was forcing them upward, while the gel under my torso gave way and relaxed. This caused significant shoulder pain during the nights I slept on my back or stomach. Similarly, my thighs were heavy enough to pass the crush threshold, but my calls were not. This created a similar pressure differential right at my knees when I slept on my side, causing knee pain which lasted throughout the day. These two conditions (along with similar factors elsewhere) meant that there was no single position that wouldn't cause me discomfort. Thus, I tossed and turned all night and never got good sleep. It even effected my performance at work to the point I had to sleep on the couch until our new mattress arrived. I don't mean this to seem negative. The bed performed according to spec. That spec just didn't seem to be designed with larger guys in mind. Great company. High quality product. Ultimately just not for me.

Ok, I wanted to wait until after my first couple of months before I posted this review. I wasn't sure that I would like it, but my old mattress had become unbearable for my back and I needed to get a new one. I chose to try the Purple for a lot of different reasons, the return policy, the price, the very convincing marketing, and I hate to admit it but the thing that tipped me to buy was that these are designed and manufactured in Utah, where I am from (holla). And.. For the first few nights, I wasn't sure. It wasn't uncomfortable, but it wasn't like the most amazing thing ever. It is a different feeling for a mattress. Until I hit night 4. And then, it was AMAZING. Since then I have slept comfortably every night, and my back and neck pain have dramatically reduced. I think I might try the Purple pillow next! I am so so glad that I decided to take the plunge and order the mattress. Everything they advertise is showing up to be true. It sleeps cool, it cradles all of my pressure points (I have never had a mattress in my entire life before that didn't make my hips sore, not until Purple), it aligns my back. Everyone in my family is super jealous! So if you are on the brink wondering if you should buy it or not, scrolling through all of the reviews for weeks like I was, I would encourage you to do it. I love mine! Thank you Purple!

When feeling the purple grid sample, it seemed like it would have the perfect amount of support and give, so I was optimistic. However, gave it a try for a few nights, and it was too firm for my lower back. I do have scoliosis and a sway back, which is probably rare for most of your customers. The gap caused stress and pain in my hips. Unfortunately, we threw our old mattress away, so we kept it and put a new foam top on it, so now I am sleeping well again. I think we could have put the same topper on a cheap mattress and got the same results.

Took a couple nights to really get into the swing of it, but after a few weeks, I can definitely say that this mattress is a game changer. Dreams have literally come back, and any semblance of pain I may have felt before purple is completely gone now. Cannot recommend enough. Love it!

I've struggled with lower back pain for years, mainly due to my hip alignment after children. Between chiropractors and massage therapists, they would put a cheap, flimsy Band-Aid on my pain until my next visit. Who knew I really needed the right mattress?! Purple has changed my life! It is SO comfortable, and gives the right amount of support where I need it! After one night I could already tell a difference in my pain level, thanks to a good nights sleep and the support my body needs! So glad I took the leap and went with Purple!
