I bought the mattress for my son. He said he likes it. If you're on the lighter size then the mattress will feel firmer. He doesn't mind that it feels firmer said it helps his back. He got the pillow for free. It had a smell at first but after a few weeks it went away. The mattress had no smell at all.

I received my Purple King Mattress in Oct 2017. I was very excited from the hype of new technology and a personal recommendation from a friend who had just purchased their Purple. I was so tired of my memory foam mattress consuming my body and forming a mold around me that was difficult to escape from - so this seemed like a great option. I will agree this mattress is constructed differently than any other I have researched and I applaud Purple for thinking outside of the box - that was enough for me to justify the expense. My experience: I'm 6', 230 lbs so a bit heavier than normal. I am primarily a side-sleeper (but lately I'm just a restless sleeper). The mattress did take some time to getting used to (as expected) so I kept holding on until my body and the mattress were acquainted. I think I did have some comfortable nights somewhere in this timeline but the experience kept evolving good to bad to good to bad. I made the mistake of waiting past my 100 day trial, thinking at least this is better than the memory foam! I put it out of my mind and went on with my life. Now nearly 1 1/2 years later I find myself back in the market for a new mattress, willing to give up on this investment after less than 2 years. I toss, turn, and wake all night long. I own a Fitbit which tracks my sleep patterns and the graphs are all over the place with very little deep-sleep recorded. I'm tired all the time and also tired of constant aches and pains that I didn't have before. As I am researching the internet for my next option I came across info about the new Purple 2, 3, & 4 with coils. I'm thinking I'm not the only one with a negative experience with Purple and this is why they are releasing softer options. My biggest complaint is while side-sleeping my arm seems to bottom-out past the comfort grid and my circulation gets cut off. Maybe this new technology would help with that problem? Unfortunately I am not willing to take another chance on Purple - even with the new technology. I'm writing this review for those considering a Purple. If you are a little heavier than normal and often sleep on your side - consider the Purple 2, 3, & 4. Maybe these will help? If not, keep you're eye on those 100 nights and be sure to return your mattress if not totally certain this is the mattress for you. Don't wait to return thinking things will all work out like I did. This mattress is unbelievably comfortable. The first month is horrible as you get used to the support of the Purple mattress, but now I sleep like a rock every night. When I left my ex, he kept the Purple mattress. After about 6 months, I realized I needed a Purple mattress back in my life...so merry christmas to me. Do your body a favor everyone, and get a purple mattress.

I have to say overall that our experience with Purple has been FANTASTIC! The ease of ordering everything and the product itself, I would recommend to anyone. My only complaint about the product is I don't believe that queen is a "standard" size queen. I feel that its smaller than the queen bed we had before. Other than that, I would say that this is definitely the most comfortable bed I have ever slept on. I have horrible shoulder pain. This bed has eased a lot of that pain and stiffness. Thank you Purple for an amazing product!

You know all those squishy bubbles on the bottom of a bubble tea? Get about a billion of them, and pack them tightly together in a mattress and that's what sleeping on this Purple mattress feels like. It's like, firm, but heaven. I have had back pain for a long time. Part of it is due to the fact that I cannot get comfortable sleeping on my back, so I sleep on my stomach (which is also not great for your back). With my Purple mattress, I'm so comfortable that I'm able to sleep on my back (as recommended by my Chiro) and if I sleep on my stomach, there is no pain. This mattress is the best thing I've ever purchased in my entire life. 13/10

This was a great investment - I had a good mattress that was only 3 years old and every morning when I got up my lower back hurt so bad it was hard to walk for the first few minutes. The very first morning when I got up from my purple mattress I had zero pain - I can't believe it, I am so happy!

This is the first time I've ever thrown 'serious' money at a mattress. The ordering and such could not have been easier. Im probably a bit over a month of sleeping on it and I just cant adjust nor can my spouse. Ive tried with the fitted sheet off and on. It's just to firm and my body aches when I wake up. After the holidays I'll be on the lookout for it's replacement unfortunately.

I'll admit I was worried I'd been a victim of a snappy ad campaign when the mattress arrived considering it was literally half the thickness of my previous bed. But after getting the egg test out of the way (we've all tried it) I laid down and was surprised at the response. It's like the purple layer doesn't want to collapse at first it fights to stay in its grid like shape. And this property seems to equate to it pushing up on your body in the places between your pressure points and that mean support. It does feel a little odd. Maybe not as "cozy" as a pillow top but I usually have toss and turn and have not slept 4hrs straight without waking and moving to alleviate back or shoulder pain in probably 2 years on my beautyrest and always woke with morning aches and pains walking downstairs slowly and having to move around for a bit till I felt normal. First night on purple I slept 9 hrs straight and my bladder was the only thing that woke me up. I had Zero pain and sleep straight through the night for the month I've owned my purple. The only negative thing is I used to like to come home from working nights and get in bed and fall asleep to watching something on my laptop. I have yet to watch more that 10 mins of something before passing out on my purple. Sometimes I do t even make it through the login process before I'm OUT. I can't believe I went through life getting such poor sleep before I found purple.

I'm disappointed I don't sleep better. I was really hoping this mattress would be the answer to helping me be more comfortable at night so I can sleep better. Even with an adjustable power base I still can't find a comfortable sleeping position with my back pain and sometimes neck.

I have had HORRIBLE shoulder problems for years because of my side sleeping, so naturally with the advertising I was intrigued by the Purple mattress. First of all, I will say that my pains and aches are definitely 80% decreased. It does an excellent job distributing weight, BUT depending on your box spring or platform you can still put too much weight on the shoulders. I 100% support getting the mattress, but if you replace an old mattress because of paint make sure to get a new platform as well. 2ND, they will try to sell you on the Seat Desk cushion. The technology on the bed does not translate to the seat cushion. If possible I recommend trying to get the pillow as the free gift. The seat cushion is WAY too soft compared to the bed. BUT OVERALL, love the mattress. I wont return because it mostly fixed my shoulder problems. BE WARNED, easy set up, but HORRIBLE to move. Once unpacked the mattress is floppy and heavy! If you are planning to move wait until settled to buy. If you are a couple, its a great mattress for not waking up your partner.
