Not too soft, and not too hard, this mattress is the best I've ever slept on. It supports amazingly well and is soft enough to sink into just the right amount to feel comfortable. I've been sleeping so much better than our old tempurpedic. Love the Purple mattress!

I bought the Purple mattress in the hopes that it would help my back. I can't say enough great things about it! At first I was skeptical because after a week my back still hurt, but after 25 days, my back is feeling great! The best is so comfortable and it doesn't sink it like the hybrid I was sleeping on. The price was fantastic for a king as well! I think they have managed to create a fan for life Thank you for the support (get it? Support.. lol) Anyway, I love my Purple mattress!

I dont have too much to say just yet. I am about 3 weeks into this experience. It is the first new mattress I have ever purchased or slept on. I do like it. My only real valid critique is that I still need a much firmer mattress. For now, it is fine. As time goes by, I may change my opinion though!

I ended up having to return my king size Purple, sadly. First, the positive: customer service was excellent, and the mattress was cool and innovative and I could see how it would be awesome for perhaps someone younger and more fit/slim than myself or my husband. Night one with the mattress was good, we both felt appropriately supported, etc. But by day four or five, my husband - who is a big guy at 6'4" and a muscular 250 lbs - was sinking right through the entire mattress and sitting on the box spring when he got in bed to read at night. We did a Princess and the Pea test and I slipped my finger between the mattress and the box spring while he was sitting on the mattress..he could clearly feel it. Needless to say, sinking through to the box spring was not an ideal situation for him, so we had to return the mattress. The return process was easy, if a bit long. I've noticed a LOT of people have questions regarding the return process so I will detail it here: we contacted Purple by phone to tell them about our issues with the mattress and request a return. A few suggestions were made regarding ways in which we could mitigate the problem, but none of them would have fixed the primary issue, so Purple told us that we would receive an email with instruction for returning the mattress. The email came immediately and contained four options for returning the mattress (basically boiled down to find/contact a charity to which to donate the mattress oneself or have Purple do it for you). We chose to have Purple find a local charity which would accept the mattress. They found one in a few days' time, which was great, but unfortunately the charity could not retrieve the mattress for three weeks. We waited, the charity came and took the mattress and left us a receipt, which we emailed to Purple, and our full refund came within a few days. All in all, an easy transaction and Purple lived up to their promises, which we really appreciate. TLDR; I feel like the SmartComfort Grid is super cool, and has enormous potential, but that the mattress would benefit from having more HD memory foam or latex underneath the polymer layer. We tried it out, it didn't work for us, we returned it for a full refund. I'll keep an eye on this company and if they come out with a mattress with a deeper/more dense support layer underneath the grid, we might even try it again.

I never give 5/5. That said 4/5 is top notch. Five of share a sleep room and we all agree that that this mattress is one of the best we have had. It's a good mattress, but after reading hundreds of reviews and researching for a months, it certainly didn't live up to my expectations. I sleep well, but really not much better than I did on my 10 year old matress and box springs. I've slept better on memory foam mattresses. I'm not knocking it...it seems like it's alleviated pain for a lot of people, but I wasn't experiencing any bad pain before, so I don't have that aspect to review. Also, I'm pretty sure I broke one of the grids on the top of the mattress yesterday when I put my knee into it. I heard and felt a pop under my knee, and I wasn't putting all of my weight on it (I weigh about 180), so I'm not sure how durable this thing will be.

I really wanted to love this mattress. I went interest free through Affirm and had it delivered shortly after check out. Unwrapped it and enjoyed. I loved the support. My wife loved it too but noticed it was hot to sleep on. So we went all in and bought the sheets and mattress protector. Sheets are nice and soft but the mattress stills sleeps hot for my taste. YMMV. Now to the issue we are currently having. Shortly after it was paid off, I noticed a change in the sleep style of the mattress. I come from the old school world of flipping and rotating mattresses. I was concerned that I could not flip this but I was reassured. Anywho, about a year and a half into the product I started getting a rut on my side of the bed. I'm 6'4", 205Lbs. Not small but not crazy big either. Along with the rut came a ridge line down the middle of the bed which has now turned into the most supportive part of the mattress. My wife and I both have ruts now and are pretty much separated by the partition in the middle of the cal king. I have rotated this mattress every two months for the last six months to get the support I need. My wife and I are now waking up in the morning with sore lower backs. That was the sign my last mattress needed to go and prompted the purchase of the Purple. I expected more than 1.5 years of support out of this mattress. I am very disappointed and would not purchase this product again. My wife has emailed the company for product/warranty support and they have not gotten back to us as of yet. We shall see.

I have the original purple and it has helped my lower back tremendously. I used to be hunched over like old man when getting out of bed but since sleeping on the purple mattres my lower back has gotten much better. Am I 100% pain free? No, but I am a lot better off after getting the purple bed

We've had our Purple for just about a month and we're loving it!! There was very little adjustment time. I don't feel my husband moving around in bed or getting up during the night. There is very little motion transfer. So far it does seem to have the perfect support and give ratio. When we first got the mattress we had a bed with slat foundation. I think this would be the ideal set up. Since then we've switched to a "king box spring" which is really two pieces. Because of this I can feel the bump in the middle of the bed where they meet. It's not a big deal because neither of us is trying to sleep flat in the dead center of the bed. We also briefly had it flat on the floor which was ok. From trying all those different set ups, I think a slat bed really compliments the purple best.

I ordered a queen size purple from a local mattress store and, for whatever reason, they couldn't order me a full size purple too. So when I got home I ordered a full size purple direct. I put them on our existing box springs and I love them both. I do think the full size box spring needs to be firmer and i will eventually replace it. I am very pleased with both mattresses.
