Fantastic mattress. I'm typically a side sleeper but the way this mattress gives but supports allows me to sleep on my back more comfortably (my butt sinks in but my lower back is supported). I don't have any spinal or joint issues so hopefully this mattress will keep it that way! I also don't feel my partner move around or get up at all. I docked a star (really should only be half a star) because it's pretty heavy and a bit awkward to move as it doesn't hold its shape once it's unrolled. This isn't a dealbreaker by any stretch though!

I read over 100 reviews before purchasing this mattress and they were all mostly good. When I received the mattress I immediately took it out of the package and placed it on my bed frame. There was a horrible chemical smell. I couldn't stand the smell it was so strong, I had to sleep on the couch for a week so it could air out!

I really like everything about Purple - from their marketing, the sales process, shipping and packing, all the way through unpacking and sleeping on. It provides exceptional support that is not too firm or too soft. It has the great ability to spread the various pressure points of the bony parts of the body. It is great at equalizing the heavy mid-section with other lighter limbs. I do not have the tendency of sinking in, feeling stretched or getting back and neck cramps on another comparable product that I purchased for another bedroom at the same time I ordered the Purple. It was also much easier lugging a 110 lb queen mattress in a round purple duffel bag (Purple) vs a 90 lb California King (other mattress) in a beat up and dusty box, up a flight of stairs to the bedrooms. I look forward to using my Purple every night.

The first night sleeping on the Purple mattress was amazing. It feels more like a real mattress compared to our old waterbed (which was almost waveless). My hubby lay down pretty hard, then it hit me....I never even felt the mattress move! Whoa. We consider this mattress to be firm (again, compared to our waveless waterbed), yet your body sinks into it and is cradled by it. There is a definite cool sensation. It took a few seconds to get used to it and warm up. Every night I used to wake up many times, due to pain, needing to reposition, and being horribly hot and sweaty (sorry about being so graphic). I'd have to remove the covers and cool off. For the first time, I didn't have to do any of that. I did wake up once to lay on my side, but immediately fell back to sleep. I suffer from Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Fibromyalgia, and insomnia. For the first time in my memory, I woke up without that 'I wish I could sleep, I'm so tired I hurt" feeling. I also purchased a Purple pillow. Purple pillows are 3" deep. Since we've had the waterbed since dinosaurs roamed the earth, I'm used to a flat pillow (regular pillows are hard on the neck on waterbeds), so that wasn't an issue. My Purple pillow is defective, and they're sending a replacement. I'm using it anyway, and even in its present condition, it's awesome. It's all scrunched up and curled on one end, so I'm sure the replacement will be softer, lol. It really does support the neck, and your head sinks in just right. It is amazingly comfortable. Happily, my hubby loves the mattress, as well. I understand this mattress is a love/hate item, but I truly do not understand why anyone would hate it.

We had a 15 year old spring bed that we were more than ready to replace and were excited for the purple mattress. This mattress had a terrible smell for a few weeks but we did get better sleep for the first few months. However before a year we started waking up every few hours with extreme back pain. We have had the mattress for 2 years now we have tried mattress toppers, different bed frames, placing the mattress on the floor and everything in between. We have since moved to our now 17 year old spring bed and are getting better quality sleep. This mattress has caused my wife to go to the chiro multiple times a week and both of us lose sleep and feel soreness every morning.

I'm still a little on the fence about this mattress. Our previous one was just a traditional coil type with a pretty soft memory foam top so this is definitely a change. My husband and I have both been sleeping well but it IS different. Can't really snuggle into a warm spot with the purple...and as soon as you turn over the warm spot is gone! As I'm usually a pretty hot sleeper this isn't a bad thing..although on the weekends if I'm being lazy and laying in bed later, it's a little sad..maybe I'll feel differently if we throw a thick down comforter on top! I think probably the best part about this bed is that it would satisfy most people's desires for a soft OR firm bed...it's both...which is kind of strange. Gotta try it to understand it!

I was using Temper-Pedic for 10yrx without issue. One day, suddenly I got a back pain, been having 6-12months. Switched bed couple times but still not working until come cross from a friend, so me and husband decided to check out in display room... and we ordered it. Now I am in heaven!!! This mattress is amazingly good that magically solved my back pain. Plus, the purple pillow is super good too.... nothing more to say you just need to try it but of course it may not fit everyone but works perfectly for me. I am a side sleeper with occasionally back sleeper...

Ok, I was skeptical. I fully intend to evaluate over the 100 day trial, but it honestly so far is the best sleeping mattress, my wife and I have ever had.. And we have tried many different King Size Mattresses. Better for a Back or stomach sleeper as I had heard, but that fits us perfectly. It actually makes it harder to get out of bed in the am, because we sleep so soundly. Really Great.

I noticed the difference from my old mattress as soon as I laid on the Purple mattress. It supported my mid section very nicely. (I'm a side sleeper) my boyfriend loves it too! In the beginning I had some soreness in my lower back, but I think it was from my body adjusting to the new alignment, because I feel great now! I hardly toss and turn throughout the night anymore, it's truly helped my back problems and provided me with optimal comfort and support for a deeper sleep.

Although this mattress wasn't right for me, the Purple company really shines in customer service! I returned my mattress for a full refund after about 80 days of trying it out. They coordinated the pickup and all I had to do was wait for the movers to pick it up... at no cost to me! The bed was much too firm for me (being a side sleeper). If it had more of a foam layer on top, it would have been perfect.
