We slept on this mattress for the first few days without a mattress pad. It was a strange feeling as I felt like I was floating on the mattress. I have issues with vertigo so it enhanced that feeling which is not good. Then my girlfriend put on a mattress pad and it was heaven ever since. I love this mattress and wish I never had to sleep on anything else. Make me not want to go on vacations as I know no bed will come close to the comfort of the Purple mattress. I bought the seat cushion soon after since I sit on my butt for long spells at my job. My butt does not get sore anymore. I highly recommend this also. --Brian S.

My overall experience was,and still is, absolutely wonderful. Having three separate fractures in my lower back,pain was constant. Then I was blessed with the best gift(toppedonly by my granddaughter) of a Purple Mattress. It's wonderful, I sleep better than I have in years and the pain in my back is barely noticeable. I love the purple stuff. It's springy and collapsible. It feels soft and so good. I wish there was more of it. I'm a side sleeper and my hips and shoulder tend to hit the foam layer too soon. I still toss and turn. I think if there were a thicker layer of purple, it would be superior.

Research and Purchase: My biggest hesitation with this purchase was buying something I never tried out as Purple only has less than a handful of locations where you can go and check this thing out. After seeing the commercials and doing a lot of mattress research though, I kept coming back to the Purple Gen 2 Mattress. Reading the reviews it appeared to me that most people either love it or hate it... and that was for most other mattresses as well to be fair It seemed that the people of larger sizes had more problems with the Purple Gen 1 mattress because it has no mechanical structure for the additional weight. Since I am 6'2" tall and weigh 215 lbs, I decided to go with the Gen 2 which is a hybrid and contains coil springs in the hopes I wouldn't experience the issues others my size did on the Gen 1. I purchased the Cali-King Purple mattress with the 3" Smart Control Grid. I also ordered the sheets and mattress cover. Preparation: After I ordered the mattress I built a horizontally-hinged 3/4" HPVA Birch plywood base to go over my low-profile box springs and beefed up the lower base supporting the box springs with additional cross beams and legs (17 total! you could park a truck on this thing) to support the additional weight of the mattress and to provide a solid base with no sag. (you cannot put this mattress on regular box springs) Delivery Process: Simple with plenty of email confirmations and status updates and I had my new mattress in about a week. The guys had a time getting it up to the second floor and to my room because of the weight and bulkiness so make sure you know where it's going because moving it afterwards will take some effort. (There must be a reason why handles are not installed on the sides of this mattress but they would definitely aid with moving it around.) I opted for removal of my previous bed. I don't know where they ended up taking it but I hope it's burning in an incinerator somewhere... First Impressions: Finally, after putting on the cover and regular cotton sheets, I tried it out. (The purple sheets didn't arrive until the following week) This mattress has a different feel than a memory foam or regular mattress for sure. It's hard to explain but it doesn't take more than minutes to love it! While my memory foam guest bed is really soft, spongy and hot, my 3-year old mattress (with a pillow top) in the master was considerably hard when compared to the Purple. It really does achieve a soft and firm balance. After laying on the bed I quickly realized how the Purple mattress was cradling my body and equally distributing my weight across the surface I was lying on which just felt amazing. I actually started to fall asleep within minutes. The first night of sleep was the first night in a long time that I slept through the entire night without constantly waking up and rolling around to get comfortable. I am a back sleeper but occasionally sleep on my side too. This bed seems to accommodate me in either situation. The bed isolates movement very well too so I wasn't bothered by my wife getting up to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night. The bed also sleeps cool but it's not like cold at all. The edges of the bed holds up when sitting on the side too, which was a complaint on the Gen 1 mattress. I have to say that when I added the Bamboo sheets, the experience became even better. I don't typically like jersey sheets but these are really amazing. They don't cling to you when moving around under the covers and are soft and silk-like. An added bonus... for me anyway... is that since they are so stretchy, my wife can no longer un-tuck my side of the bed leaving my feet out to freeze in the breeze of the fan. The Verdict: For me this thing is the holy grail of mattresses. I don't know how in the world someone wouldn't enjoy sleeping on this thing. Yes it may be pricey if you have a Cali-King but some of my wife's handbags cost as much and do absolutely nothing... and then end up in the closet the next year... and eventually the hands of my 20 something daughters the following year. Crazy! Anyway, I've had neck and upper back pain for years and the Purple mattress has seemingly fixed all this! So far I've been sleeping on my Purple Gen 2 for about two months and the most pleasant surprise of all is the near disappearance of my chronic neck pain! Over the past few weeks I've noticed that my neck pain was less than the previous day and today it all of the sudden donned on me, that I have no neck pain! AT ALL!!! I absolutely love my Purple!! I am so glad I bought this mattress! I have been sleeping soundly ever since and have no regrets!

I purchased two Purple King size mattresses. I have owned them for approximately 2 months but I don't fell qualified to speak on their quality as I have never slept on either mattress yet. They were bought for guest bedrooms and our guests that have stayed at our house said they slept well and thought they were a nice mattress but then a few single nights on a brand new mattress should elicit such a response. I can say that the company was easy to work with during the order, shipping, etc. All the proper items were included and shipping was performed in a timely manner. If the mattress holds up as well as the initial order/service then yes I would definitely buy from Purple again.

I purchased my purple bed a little over a month ago. It's super convenient, from having the bed shipped directly to your front door and setting it up yourself fairly quick. At first I wasn't sure if I would like the new bed but after my body got used to it I've loved it ever since. I don't want to get out of bed in the mornings when it's time to wake up for work. It truly is very comfortable. My husband struggled with waking up with back pain and he never complains anymore. He said the pain has gone away completely. I'm very satisfied with the bed, although I do wish the price was lower. Thanks purple for the most comfortable bed I've ever owned.

We have had the Purple mattress for less than a month but so far, it has been the best sleep we have ever had. Here is an analysis from our perspective: -- I'm usually a back sleeper but sometimes wake up with pains, likely due to lack of support. With Purple I have felt perfect since the first night I slept on it! -- Sometimes I turn on my side. In the past, without fail this caused pains at the pressure points after getting out of bed. With Purple, I haze zero pressure pains. It's quite amazing! On the other hand, I have some minor aches associated with alignment, as I think the Purple mattress is keeping my body aligned in a way that I normally haven't been for years. As a result, my body will need to adapt to this new alignment with Purple when sleeping on my side. - My wife is a full-time side sleeper and says it has been perfect on the Purple mattress--best ever! - We have young kids that get into bed with us...push me to the side eventually until I'm almost falling out. Typically this means practically no edge support but with the Purple mattress, I can hardly tell I'm on the edge at all. The support is nearly uniform from edge to edge! - It arrived quickly. It unpacked beautifully. It was ready in minutes. WOW! I can't say enough good about it! The only disappointment I have is that we did not receive a free purple cushion even though the website said you would get one with a purchase of the bed. We never received one. We like the bed so much, we imagine the seat cushion would be great, too. NOTE: We also got the Purple mattress cover and highly recommend it for your new Purple mattress.

I personally don't get the hype of the purple mattress. I am on my 2nd one due to my first one being defective and filing a warranty claim. I will say they were great about sending me a new mattress but now that I've had the new one for 2ish weeks I'm not loving it. My back is still killing me no matter what position I sleep on. I've tried on my back, left side, right side and even attempted my stomach for part of the night last night. I would recommend trying a different brand however I personally have tried many different mattresses and feel like they all suck eventually. A friend bought both tuft and needle and purple the same time and split nights on each one and ultimately kept the tuft and needle and sent back the purple so I may go that route as well

After spending weeks looking at beds and discussing what was important to both my partner and I we decided to try Purple. We ordered a Queen size bed and the royal seat as well. It came quickly, in about a week or so which was much shorter than anticipated, in the best way. I am a shorter woman, 5 ft 4 in, and I was able to bring this inside and get it set up on my own. It was heavy but doable. Easy to open and the bed is ready almost instantly. We have been sleeping on this mattress for about a month now and sleep has improved for both of us, its easier to fall asleep and stay comfortable. I find I am waking up less in the middle of the night which previously was a big problem and a lot less body aches and pains which has been a life long battle. It has been the best investment in our better well being. The seat is pretty awesome as well. My partner takes it to work as he sits for long periods and loves it. I use it sitting at the desk, and can tell a great improvement in blood circulation in my legs while sitting!!!! We have suggested you already to family, friends, and co workers because we are so happy with your products and will be purchasing more in the future. I wanna put purple on everything!!!!!!!

I was looking for a mattress specifically to help me with pain in my lower back. My brother has a purple mattress and said that he felt it improved the condition of his back. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case for me. After using the mattress for the trial period, morning back issues were worse rather than better. It was unfortunate because I liked the feel if the mattress when I reclined on it. My wife, conversely, found it to be too soft. In both cases, the mattresses didn't work for us so we proceeded with the return. I must say that I was disappointed that things didn't work out. I really liked the company and the people I dealt with were upbeat and honest. The mattress was unique and modern and well conceived. I want them to succeed. Buying a mattress is so hard. They are big and expensive and it takes time to find out if it will work for you and your partner. Purple made it so I could try the mattress for an adequate amount of time and made returning it easy. Their website and staff were helpful each step of the way.
