I've been playing with the idea of getting a purple for quite awhile and finally decided to take the leap with the hopes that, if I did not like the bed, the return process wouldn't be too much of a hassle. So glad I never had to find that out for myself because so far this bed has been AMAZING! I have sciatica and my old mattress definitely aggravated it and my sleep quality was rather poor, but I'm relieved to say that the purple worked for me! I've only had it a few weeks, but so far I've woken up pain free and feeling refreshed every time. I hope it lasts me a good long time. Love it!

I received my Purple King Mattress in Oct 2017. I was very excited from the hype of new technology and a personal recommendation from a friend who had just purchased their Purple. I was so tired of my memory foam mattress consuming my body and forming a mold around me that was difficult to escape from - so this seemed like a great option. I will agree this mattress is constructed differently than any other I have researched and I applaud Purple for thinking outside of the box - that was enough for me to justify the expense. My experience: I'm 6', 230 lbs so a bit heavier than normal. I am primarily a side-sleeper (but lately I'm just a restless sleeper). The mattress did take some time to getting used to (as expected) so I kept holding on until my body and the mattress were acquainted. I think I did have some comfortable nights somewhere in this timeline but the experience kept evolving good to bad to good to bad. I made the mistake of waiting past my 100 day trial, thinking at least this is better than the memory foam! I put it out of my mind and went on with my life. Now nearly 1 1/2 years later I find myself back in the market for a new mattress, willing to give up on this investment after less than 2 years. I toss, turn, and wake all night long. I own a Fitbit which tracks my sleep patterns and the graphs are all over the place with very little deep-sleep recorded. I'm tired all the time and also tired of constant aches and pains that I didn't have before. As I am researching the internet for my next option I came across info about the new Purple 2, 3, & 4 with coils. I'm thinking I'm not the only one with a negative experience with Purple and this is why they are releasing softer options. My biggest complaint is while side-sleeping my arm seems to bottom-out past the comfort grid and my circulation gets cut off. Maybe this new technology would help with that problem? Unfortunately I am not willing to take another chance on Purple - even with the new technology. I'm writing this review for those considering a Purple. If you are a little heavier than normal and often sleep on your side - consider the Purple 2, 3, & 4. Maybe these will help? If not, keep you're eye on those 100 nights and be sure to return your mattress if not totally certain this is the mattress for you. Don't wait to return thinking things will all work out like I did. We had a queen size purple, but now it's so nice to have the king, my boyfriend and girlfriend and I all fit so nicely, and it's the most wonderful sleep I've ever had. Combined with the power base we've never slept better in our lives. It was really life changing and I could never go back to a regular bed.

We had a pillow top mattress and had it less than a year before it dipped and gave us horrible back pain. We decided to pull the trigger and take the "risk" of buying a mattress we had never tried. (no risk really since you can return and get your full money back) We got it in and were so excited! My husband loved it immediately but it took me a week or so to get used to it. Try it for the full 30 days before you decide if you don't like it. I was used to sinking into a mattress but that's really not what you want. It is supportive to every part of your body and we now wake up feeling refreshed every morning and back pain is a thing of the past! We will NEVER go back to anything but Purple again!

I've only rarely seen this mentioned, so here's my issue: As a side sleeper parts of the matrix under me are very compressed, and so a bit lumpy underneath. We are using a medium weight mattress pad in addition to the very thin stretchy on we purchased with the mattress. To anyone in the process of deciding how they feel about the mattress, I suggest that (or maybe adding a blanket underneath). I think it was good without the extra mattress pad, but it's better with, because the overall support characteristics of the mattress are nearly the same, but the slight lumps are smoothed out. If you hate the gummy, doughy quality of memory foam, you might well like this. It's more like a latex mattress. I was thinking I wanted a latex matress, and If high quality latex mattresses weren't multiple times more expensive, I might have gone for one of those, but it's really hard to tell from just a few minutes testing in a store. Our old name brand, innerspring pillow top mattress had become so un-supportive after just a few years, I ended up sleeping in a recliner while waiting for the new purple. My wife says she's only moderately happier and that the old one wasn't that bad, but her back ache complaints went WAY down after a few weeks in the purple. The only other negative I can think of is that since I'm sleeping quite comfortably, I toss and turn much less than on most other mattresses, so paradoxically I'm sometimes a little stiff after a long sleep, only because my body has been in the exact same position for a longer time. I'd always wanted a CalKing, and am so happy Purple started selling this size shortly before we bought. Our 11 year old has our old queen, and I guess 11 year olds can sleep on anything, but if he ever complains, we'll get him a purple, too.

I really like everything about Purple - from their marketing, the sales process, shipping and packing, all the way through unpacking and sleeping on. It provides exceptional support that is not too firm or too soft. It has the great ability to spread the various pressure points of the bony parts of the body. It is great at equalizing the heavy mid-section with other lighter limbs. I do not have the tendency of sinking in, feeling stretched or getting back and neck cramps on another comparable product that I purchased for another bedroom at the same time I ordered the Purple. It was also much easier lugging a 110 lb queen mattress in a round purple duffel bag (Purple) vs a 90 lb California King (other mattress) in a beat up and dusty box, up a flight of stairs to the bedrooms. I look forward to using my Purple every night.

I honestly like the presentation of the mattress, it keeps me fresh during the night and I don't feel when my wife leave the bed during the night, the only thing that I am desapointed is that is too hard and I feel like sliping on the floor. Otherwise is good.

I was skeptical buying a mattress online and without laying on it first, but I LOVE the purple mattress. Me and my husband have both woke up refreshed and pain free since day 1! The reason for 3 stars is because our frame came broken and when we called the customer service rep was rather rude at the request we wanted a replacement. I love the mattress so much, I would buy another one, but I wish they had better customer service!

Great customer service. Representatives were very helpful and made the return process effortless. Mattress 3 stars and Service 5... My wife and I are side sleepers. We couldn't seem to aclimate to this mattress. On our backs it was very comfortable and seemed to absorb all pressure points. However, I rotate to my side while I sleep and I kept waking up with a really sore shoulder. Also, we came from a memory foam topper. We both felt like we could feel the grids through purples cover and mattress protector. This was super weird for us as we never felt like the mattress was cozy.

This is a 17-night review of a king-sized Purple 4 but I could have written it after about 5 nights. My husband experienced almost immediate relief with his lower back pain and the same was true for my hip. We're both former athletes who put A LOT of wear on our bodies over the years. Memory foam worked well for a number of years, but as the aches began to mount, we knew we needed to take a different approach. This mattress truly allows us to reposition easily which was one of our primary requirements. We also agree to the claim that it sleeps 'cool'. The only thing I might refute is that you don't feel your partner move. Because it's 'jiggly' on top, I notice when my husband gets into bed but it's nothing that disrupts my comfort level. Be warned that the king-sized mattress is HEAVY. The delivery duo struggled to carry it even in it's tubular packaging and there were no stairs involved. I don't think we could move it easily but it doesn't lose a star for that because it is THAT good! We could not be more satisfied!
