Every year it gets tougher and tougher to find and start out with the do-it-yourself free version and upgrade only when necessary from there. Unless someone was tech savvy, it would be tough to not spend a lot of extra money on unnecessary services that don't benefit most people. TurboTax defaults you into these superfluous product tiers, and then you have to make serious effort to downgrade to products that are sufficient for your tax situation. This is very dark and predatory design that Intuit should be ashamed of. The basic product does everything that most people need, in an accurate expeditious manner.

I normally use the Turbo tax desktop version and had enrolled in the Turbotax Desktop Advantage plan last year. I was very disappointed when I went to start my taxes this past week and realized that the Turbotax desktop version provided by the Advantage plan would only run on Windows 11. I am still using Windows 10 with extended support from Microsoft and have no intention to upgrade to Windows 11 but will be migrating to Linux. With very little time I was basically forced to use the Turbotax online version and am not a big fan of the web-based version. I am also not very happy that I have had to pay for Turbotax two times this tax year, one time for the Advantage plan and now for the web version I filed my taxes with. I have used Turbotax for last 30 years and it has been the only tax software I have ever used. I have also suggested it to many of my friends and family. It is sad to say that this will most likely be my last year to use Turbotax and will search for another alternative next year.

There is always some kind of catch. I selected the free tax return option and expected it to be honored, especially since I repeatedly declined the system’s $64 “max” offer. However, at the very end—after everything was completed—I was charged $119 just to file my federal return. At no point were any additional costs clearly disclosed or even hinted at. This feels deceptive and misleading.

No explanation on state income tax and why it was so high. Also description of certain items, like Section C was incredibly vauge and was not explained at all. Also, reviewing the same things over, and over and over and over again, its no wonder the hole experience took about 3 hours....

You advertise Turbo Tax is free ,but after spending several hours filling out the forms, before I could submit my forms, there was a $143 charge for filling out the forms. I won't be using have only Social Security and 2 very small pensions for income. I don't owe any tax and no refund due.

You have taken what should be a free and easy process for all Americans and monetized it so you can make a profit off of a tax that your legislators forced Congress to change removing the free option for all Americans I think it's despicable in the most underhanded kind of grift

Took a while. paid for a review, was advised it was good, had to go back and change info on my return, because something was in fact not good. If im paying 200 dollars to do this and get it reviewed, whats the point if I still have to go back and make changes after the expert review.

Although I find it easy to go through TurboTax, I'm worried that I am not receiving my full return since I'm being charged $183 using the deluxe version. This total amount is sneakily shared at the end of completing the forms. I wish it cost less and I'm not sure I would us TurboTax again.
