Easy but pricey

IT's quite pricey for my return. I don't have a simple one, but it's aint complicated either. You've already prepared both federal and state but yet charge a ridiculous amount to file state also. I didn't s r human help...that I would pay more for. but this computer generated stuff that I type in myself.

A Masterclass in Corporate Greed and Deceptive Des

If I could give zero stars, I would. TurboTax is less of a financial service and more of a digital extortion racket wrapped in a shiny, gamified interface. First, let's talk about the absolute extortion they call "pricing." Their entire marketing campaign is built on the endless, repetitive lie of "Free, Free, Free," but it is a masterclass in the bait-and-switch. The moment you try to claim something as incredibly basic as a student loan interest deduction, unemployment, or dare to have a single 1099 for a side gig, you hit a massive paywall. They intentionally wait until you've sunk an hour into manually typing in your W-2s to suddenly hold your return hostage, demanding $80+ for a "Deluxe upgrade" that requires absolutely zero extra computing power on their end. Add on the state filing fees, and you're out over a hundred bucks just to pay your taxes. Then there is the disgustingly predatory UI. The entire platform is a minefield of dark patterns designed to trick you into making mistakes that benefit Intuit. The buttons to decline their overpriced "audit defense," refund processing fees, or "MAX benefits" are always tiny, grayed-out, and deliberately worded to make you feel stupid for clicking them. Meanwhile, the "Yes, take more of my money!" buttons are massive and glowing. Worse is their shameless data harvesting. Their information-sharing prompts are deliberately deceptive, tricking users into handing over their most sensitive financial data. They aren't just processing your taxes; they are mining your income, debts, and life circumstances so they can cross-sell you Credit Karma loans and bombard you with marketing for other Intuit junk. They treat your private IRS data like a cheap lead-generation tool. And let's not forget the most sickening part of all: Intuit spends millions of dollars every single year lobbying the U.S. government to keep the tax code complicated. They have actively fought against a free, simplified, government-run filing system for decades. They literally pay politicians to ensure filing your taxes remains a miserable, terrifying experience so you are forced to crawl back to their predatory software. Do yourself a massive favor and use literally anything else—FreeTaxUSA, Cash App Taxes, or the new IRS Direct File. Stop feeding this parasite of a company. Avoid TurboTax like the plague.

Needs to ask about IRA contributions!

We contributed money to our IRA in 2025 but turbo tax didn't ask about that. Lots of questions about HSA but none about IRA. I had to search for where to put that information in. It made a significant difference in the tax due and I'm glad I knew to look for it. I also rolled over some IRA money and that wasn't explained very well, since it was a rollover and not actually withdrawing money. The whole process took me at least 3x longer than estimated to file, probably because it's my first time filing in a long time. But the end result was good and I'm sure I'll use turbo tax again.

Hate the online version.

I will never use Turbo Tax on line again. I have used TT Deluxe CD or download for 20 yeasrs give or take. This version is not user friendly. There is no way to access the forms as you proceed.....or I was unable to find them. No access to the worksheets that i could find. I just finished my return, I want to check to see where the file is saved.

Accountant Retired so had to try TurboTax

Unfortunately, online version is not transferable to download software which was cheaper. I would've had to re-enter all documents, one time was painful enough. Hopefully next year I can remember purchase download version and be able to download previous year for record.

Couldn't properly revise

This year, it was extremely difficult to return to sections to make revisions. The pages would not load properly and/or populate in order. For example, I couldn’t correct whether I had lived in the U.S. for at least six months; once I selected or deselected an option, I couldn’t go back to change it. As a result, I had to restart the entire application.

TurboTax is awesome

I found this tax software incredibly easy to use from start to finish. The interface is very intuitive, which helped me navigate through the different sections without any confusion. It simplified what is usually a stressful task by providing clear instructions and helpful prompts. I really appreciated how straightforward the entire filing process felt this year.

Mixed

I found the on-line Turbo Tax to be more cumbersome to use than the desktop versions I have been using for many, many years. Although I uploaded the previous year's return, I had to re-enter names, tax id, and other info for all the 1099 INT, & DIV. Overall, I prefer the desktop version and would have used it if I had a Windows 11 capable computer.

Meh

The ui is bad and asks alot of redundant questions and then sends you back to answer those redundant questions again it would be alot more convenient if you actually used the forms that I upload instead of making me search the form I just uploaded to you to fill out questions you have.

Not all I thought it would be

My state return was rejected. I took a pic of my W2 and I was so happy that I didn’t have to enter all the numbers manually. I checked over everything twice, but it turns out that box 16 said that I made $13,367,000 when I made $133,367.00! Omg!! I have been so stressed out because I couldn’t figure out why my return was rejected. How did this even happen?
