New York Inflation Check Issues

TurboTax was not clear on how to enter the Inflation Refund check that was issued by New York State in 2024. There should have been a dedicated section for New York tax filers to enter the Inflation Refund check as the check was only had federal tax liability.

Turbo Tax is tedious

This tool spends way too much effort trying to get me to upgrade. Also when it came to the solar panel/battery credit, it did a poor job of telling me if I qualified or not. It was talking about solar electricity cost, which I have if I'm leasing or have a power purchase agreement. But that's the wrong criteria. ChatGPT told me I didn't qualify in no uncertain terms.

TurboTax is disgusting.

This system is predicated on people being ignorant to their tax implications. Frankly I wouldn't have even used your systems if I was made more aware earlier that there were other options to file my taxes for much lower cost. But you like it that way, and that is the problem. Whatever poor quality assurance person has to read this is not the target of my ire. It's the C-suite executive big wigs that I take umbrage with. Rest assured I will do my best to never use your product lines again, and I will be urging everyone I know to never use your products either. Pathetic.

Product sucks... Works slow and is painfurl to use

this product sucks. Been using Deluxe Desktop for years and was happy with it. Had same product this year and discovered while installing it would not work with Windows 10. The message said I should use online instead. Got a new laptop, but ran out of time to get working with Turbotax. When I started the long and difficult process of using online, I was told I would be able to apply the desktop purchase to the Online product use after all was entered. Only to find out that was a lie. I will never use TurboTax again.

The fees for haveing someone do your taxes these days is absolutly outrageous. With turbotax and a resonable fee its just more financially viabale. The website has worked with no issues for me for years. My spouce and child have had a cantankerous time with identity verification, there needs to be a more efficient way for people to resolve log in issues.

Too much fancy screens and not enough simply works

Turbo Tax seems to make what should be a simple return overly complex and time consuming. The program asks the same question over and over again just in different ways rather than guiding you start to finish on a single round of questions. The program wastes a lot time showing you fancy and very unnecessary graphics saying "We are checking this" or "reviewing that". All those graphics and wait screens are a waste of time. As to features... it does your taxes. There aren't any other features. After spending about two hours on what the program said would take one and common sense says should take 30 minutes, my simple return cost me $100 so they could get me a return of $0. Had I not used this program and instead hand written the forms, I would have paid the government $0 and would've had to spend 78 cents on a stamp. So, no value here.

Never Again

You guys are borderline scandalize, there is no transparency of any of your hidden fees until the very end, i wanted to do a basic file and you then say i cant file unless i do a deluxe addition that cost an extra 69 dollars on top of my 40?? yeah this will be the very last time i file with this company that has had its history of bad business practices.

If I have to pay at least make it worth it

Feature to auto populate from my banks did not work. The upload document feature worked for only one of the documents so I had to enter the rest manually. It gets confused for documents with consolidated 1099 INT and DIV. Somehow even my insurance company has better document OCR than this...

Annoying things

Annoyance 1: Format changes enough from year to year, making it a bit confusing. Annoyance 2: Couldn't find where to enter charitable contributions; where? Annoyance 3: Couldn't find where to enter Alaska Permanent Fund distribution, so entered it into Miscellaneous income. Annoyance 4. No where to search (no obvious search bar) for either Charitable Contributions or Alaska Permanent Fund. Annoyance 5: For some reason while entering information for one of my dividends, it initially displayed it, but when I hit the back button, it erased it and I had to re-enter it again. Sorry, but I've used your product for many years, and this was the first time I had to keep jumping in and out of topics to make sure I got everything entered.

Predatory UI

Predatory UI, not clear what you are paying. Does not indicate an extra payment for state filing. The back arrow doesn't work. No clear way of going back and changing what you are buying when you end up getting to the itemized list of charges. Misleading marketing, 'pay through your return' but no indication that $44 will be charged to do so.
