Entering income was very confusing! I authorized Turbo Tax to access my investment bank accounts an extract the tax docs, but I was never sure it have done so! the program kept asking me to SAVE/EDIT the information. i had to enter the info manually! it was never clear what i needed to do! everything else was OKAY!

Will not use again. Paid for deluxe ($89) to file Fed and State. When I tried to submit to e-file, I repeatedly received this message: Your transmission didn't go through We could not e-file your return for the following reason: Our records indicate that you are not entitled to e-file one or more formsets. Only after I went back in and upgrade (additional $50) did the e-file go through. If I had known that I was going to have to pay more here than the service I used last year, I would have used them again.

First year I have not been happy with TurboTax. Partial fault of the IRS as well. IP PINs this year were a pain. Multiple filings rejected before I called to find out that there is a specific place to enter the IP PIN. While the return is rejected and I followed the "Fix my return" link, TurboTax never actually took me to the place to fix my return. Once I figured that out, I then had to get the actual IP PIN from the IRS. Got all three but by the time I received access to create my last IP PIN (family member), one that was created last year changed! Infuriating at best...

I have been using turbo tax for more that 30 years now. Turbo tax is as easy as it gets for completing your own taxes and not having to pay someone else for completing them. It cost the same amount of money, if not cheaper. Most of the directions and questions in Turbo Tax are easy to follow. there are an abundance of help topics to access and you can always do online chat, if necessary. I highly recommend Turbo Tax to all my friends and family. I would highly recommend it for anyone who wants to do their own taxes.

TurboTax is generally annoying due to its predatory and misleading pricing. It will say that upgrading to Premium is $0* but when you click learn more info you have to scrub through the dense entire terms and conditions for TurboTax unlike EVERYTHING else when you're doing your taxes. If you click learn more on anything else it will give you a very brief explanation. This indicates an intentional obfuscation to make it seem you can upgrade at no cost, without making it more clear that this cost is taken out of your return itself. Additionally, upgrading when you are on the federal portion list ~$120 but as soon as you get to checkout you notice that your state tax return costs ~$70 instead of previously being free. I can effectively say that this is the last year I will be using TurboTax all together. For some context I am active Army, single, just got into investing last year and went to add my 1099-B to my federal taxes that had been completely free to me up until this year.

Each time I logged in I would get a notice that my investment forms were imported. They were being newly imported each time, meaning it was duplicating the forms and adding to my tax liability. I am glad I caught it and was able to delete the duplicated forms.

It felt like I was being forced to upgrade. Service was great in the past. As my tax returns have become more complicated with age (e.g. community property, retirement, etc.), I've found the service to be less clear/helpful. Would be great if there was a way to connect partners who are married filing separately to help create peace of mind for the complexities.

Taxes are so stressful. This past year, I started a job that had me traveling around the country. I tried doing my taxes with another software that was totally free, but it was so confusing and NOT user-friendly. Turbo Tax found more ways to reduce my taxes than the other software, so switching to TT more than paid for itself. And it was SO EASY to do all the various states!! I also love that it saved my spot every time I logged out. I often get distracted, something comes up, or honestly I get overwhelmed... all which contributed to my taxes taking more than one session. It's all my fault. But it didn't hurt me, because TT automatically took me to the right spot each time I logged in. (Note for improvement: Change the button that says "Start My Taxes" to "Go To My Taxes." It always made me scared at first that my progress hadn't been saved.

Filing for 2024 was the easiest and fastest in some years since it was the last year I worked and then did not even work the full year as I was laid off, so I opted to just go ahead and retire. I thought it was supposed to be a free service - started out that way anyhow. Still, I found it all fast, easy to understand and I am happy I used Intuit TurboTax.

All I want is tax prep & filing. Stop accessing my personal information outside of TurboTax without my permission. Stop trying to get me to agree to your stupid marketing crap. Stop trying to get me to allow you to store my personal information so you can sell it. I pay to provide a service & that isn't enough for your company. This may be the last time I use your service.
