Mah Jong set

The Mah jong set from sam's was a great purchase. I researched considerably prior to buying. Ifeel very happy with this set. It has everything except the cards. It is beautiful and sturdy, definitely a quality set. It does have a crease in the mat from being folded, and the pusher on the rack is not attached. These are two things I wanted to avoid, but I love the set and those things are irrevelent for me.

Pretty Mahjong Set!

Bought this for my daughter for her birthday. She is a horse girl so it's really cool that it's the hear of the horse. She's gonna love it!

Happy with purchase.

Nice quality set. Great price. The tiles are very sturdy. (We have dropped them on a ceramic floor and NO dents or marks on the tiles.) The only downside is the tiles do not slide easily on the mat. However, it is getting easier with use.

Review from a regular Mahjong player

This set is gorgeous. I love the jelly-red tiles and the bold colors of the mat. I've been watching all my friends buy tiles for $400 and have been holding out for a deal, and THIS IS IT! The tiles are standard size, good quality, and beautiful. The fact that they come with the mat, racks, and bag (all good quality as well) is just icing on the cake. My only complaint is the case for the tiles. It's cute, but it's too small to just toss them in after a game; you have to stack them to get them to fit. This is a minor issue though, and I may just buy a pouch to put them in instead. A note about the racks. They are not attached to the pushers. There are no magnets either. After you push out your wall, the pusher (I believe) is supposed to slide underneath your rack so it's out of the way. Another thing to note is the pushers come with a thin layer of protective plastic on them that you need to peel off. I imagine most people won't even notice, but if you pick at the corner with your fingernail, you'll see it comes right off. Overall, I've extremely happy with this set and the $150 price tag. Happy mahj-ing!

Good value, small print

Nice quality mat. Numbers on tiles are a bit too small. Pushers not attached to racks. Overall pleased.

Nice Matt

The Matt was very nice. The sliders were not. They were not connected and the part you use to slide was flimsy. The cases were nice but have a terrible smell. Even a month later. The tiles are nice.

Disappointed, Small Tiles, Small Racks %26 more

I was actually really disappointed in this set, but likely due to the fact that I played with others first. I was just taught how to play at a girls retreat and I immediately came home and bought a set of my own to play with my family. The first thing I noticed is the size of the tiles. While they are pretty and feel nicely made, they are much smaller than other sets I played with. Because of this, they don't stay stacked well. A subtle touch knocks multiple tiles off the stack because they simply lack any give due to the smaller surface area. The racks are also too small for the mat. If you're using the blanks, the racks aren't even long enough to slide all the tiles at once. They do hold your hand, but it's annoying that they can't slide the tiles with ease due to being too short by a tile or two. The racks also do not connect to the pusher in any way. Other sets I played with had magnets in them that kept the pusher against the rack. These do not and the pushers also kept falling over during setup and only held once the tiles were lined against it. The instructions were fine, but the lack of acceptable hands was baffling. There were a few examples, but if you're new to the game, there was really no way to tell what you should've trying for. I'm not sure how one would know what to collect otherwise. I had to find some online to print out for myself. Overall, I'd wish I spent more and gotten a different set. I'm sure it's fine if you don't know any different. Tried to add photos, but I kept getting errors.
