How this sells is beyond me

We just got this and put it together. There wasn't an in store model, so at $400 we made a few assumptions...wrong move. The only metal I can see is the axel. The rest of the body is made of a soft plastic, the whole thing bends when a kid gets on it The suspension is fake. I have a 5 year old that weighs like 45 pounds, can't fit in it without contorting himself. When the seat is all the way back you can't really lift the bed (and seriously, who puts a pull there instead of putting in a lever on the side???). The pedal is directly in the middle of the vehicle, the other thing there is also the very long gear shifter, makes it awkward for reverse and when driving slow. Hopefully whoever designed this monstrosity of cheapness is unemployed and will stay that way forever for disappointing kids. This vehicle should be in the $150-200 price range, you are paying a $200 premium because it is John Deere, especially since it is only a 12V battery.

Peg Perego gator

I bought one of these 12 years ago for my older granddaughter! She was 3 years old. It was built heavier, bigger, a lot better gator! These new ones are cheaply built, don’t expect it to last very long, if at all. Very disappointed in the quality and the price! I don’t what you could buy now in this cheap market! More money and a cheap product!

My grandsons love riding the Gator which is great. BUT when it comes time to charge the battery you have to take most of the front of it off just to charge the battery which is VERY time consuming. Also you have to hold the shifter in reverse while you are backing up and my 3 yr old does great with it but the two 2 year olds don't understand that you HAVE to hold it in reverse to back it up. I also feel like they could have done a better job with the tires.... they are hard plastic and have trouble with traction at times, If they had put some rubber on the tires I feel like that would have solved all of the "sit and spin" situations!!! I think they will out grow this one quicker than the John Deere Tractor models - there is not a lot of leg room in them. IF I only had one child then I would buy the Tractor model over the Gator model due to them out growing the toy so quickly.

No traction breaks easily

It has no traction on grass. After about 10 uses my kid barely bumped a tree and then something inside the part that moves the wheels broke and it makes a horrible squealing sound instead of turning the wheels. The tractor dumping part is manual and it's very hard to do, a kid can't dump it

Hope it works as expected

Haven't been able to let my son try it out yet since it's a Christmas present. However the instructions are kind of a pain to read. The pictures aren't the best. I knew when I ordered it didn't have working buttons or lights but the amount of stickers to put on are ridiculous. Cheaper brands have better features

Not for 5 year olds

We bought the Gator for our two children. We thought that this would be great since it was suppose to be for children 3-8 years of age. I don't know what 8 year old they measured but our 5 year old who is 4'3" doesn't even fit in the seat with it all the way back. Our 3 year old son loves it and fits perfectly however I dont know that it will last him but a year before he is to tall.

Wouldn't buy or recommend

I bought this for my son. I've had peg perego products in the past but I am extremely disappointed with this purchase. First thing is the battery it came with is junk. I charged for 24 hrs first time and it only lasts 20-30 min and then takes a full 24 hrs to recharge. The second issue is the dump box release broke off after only using a handful of times. I've had the tractor and fourwheeler and those were great but I would definitely not buy the gator again. Really dissatisfied with the battery situation.

Bad motor

We purchased this product for my 3 year old son for Christmas. The left motor overheated and started smoking after less than five minutes of use. We have replaced the motor twice with the same result. My son only weighs 35 lbs, he wasn't driving wild and crazy, and he was driving on a flat road. There was no obvious reason for this to happen. I contacted Peg Perego and their response was that I should replace both motors at the same time instead of only replacing the defective motor. There was no apology and no offer to fix the problem. Very disappointing.

Freaking Awesome (Country or Not)

Look, this thing is awesome and perfect for kids 2yo- (who knows) 9yo i think is recommended (but i'm a 230 pound man and it carries me... so probably way beyond 9) I have 2 boys, 1 loves the fast setting the other doesn't. They have driven it threw mud, grass, gravel, streets, hills and this thing performs superbly. The only time it has issues is in the slow gear (as only 1 tire spins) and when they try to run it through deep mud puddles where the mud touches the chassis. (BOTH completely reasonable reasons to get stuck). (Will buy another one after a few months for my 2 yo (no more sharing yay)). In high speed both rear motors kick in and give them the nice standard grip and can spin the tires and what not (looks so cool - but does destroy the tires (haven't had to replace any tires yet, have had mine ran daily for 4 months) If you live in the country, and are complaining about the "cheap" tires. Find any other ride on with rubber tires - please... because you won't. So for those people who need more grip, here's what you do, you buy this: https://www.walmart.com/search/?query=bicicle%20fat%20tires then cut them to size and screw them into the "cheap" tires. Voila. (of course if you decide to modify the vehicle - please be wary that your child might just start popping wheelies on dry surfaces).

good product but beware

We purchased the gator for our grandson and he was 2 1/2 at Christmas and didnt really take to it right away, however come May he was able to understand how to operate. We purchased the extended warranty as it was supposed to be a "cover everthing" , Well , it doesnt, come July, THE BATTERY failed to hold charge. Called to get battery replaced, was then told "oh no, the BATTERY NOT INCLUDED, you only have 90 days on that. This is a pricey item that has to be replaced. No one would acknowledge our problem that it hadnt been used that much. Other than that he really enjoys this toy.
