TurboTax continues to get harder to use

The guidance is poor, seeming to skip subjects and uses too many unexplained acronyms. The help is useless. I've been using TurboTax for years and have noticed a steady degradation in its ease of use. It seems that may be a ploy to get people to give them money for advice and buy audit insurance from them.

complaint 1

While trying to find if TurboTax supported completion of 5500 EZ I looked into the Business edition. When I bought the 2025 edition of TurboTax Deluxe it came with my business tax id and although I corrected it to my SS # it never accessed previous versions although I had used TurboTax for over 20 years. Very disappointing. Also, never learned if you support completing 5500 forms

many software glitches

too many software glitches throughout the Federal interviews and forms, such as: frequent inability to enter supporting details, inability to scroll to correct month to enter credit card payment information. I've been using TurboTax since the mid-eighties consistently - this is the last year though. The software was released without adequate proofing for errors.

Import is clunky

The step by step process was more cumbersome than previous years. The steps were not as clear and it took longer to input our info. The import from external financial sources (investments primarily) was very clunky. TT should recognize that downloads from firms that were used in years past should be recognized instead of creating a new download.

Quality has gone down

The quality of the desktop app has really gone down. I spent minutes unchecking and re-unchecking boxes that would be checked automatically (and wrongly). This happened in a couple of places and must be a result of software bugs. It affected my trust and caused frustration... which I hadn't experienced in previous years.

online version vs the computer version

I docked the product because initially I intended to file "online" after years of preparing the returns using the product "using the computer". I found the "online" product to be cumbersome for me. It was difficult for me to follow the "flow" of my entries. I did not feel comfortable using the product in this fashion.

Accurate and Up to Date on Rules and Regulations

This is my final return computing taxes on income from a state I worked in but where I did not reside. I have retired. Turbo Tax always handled the computations correctly and accurately so that both states involved get the appropriate taxes. I have used Turbo Tax for many years now and can't imagine switching to another software. Good job Turbo Tax.

Garbage

I have used Turbo Tax for over 10 years, it was always very easy and straight forward. many explanations, help tips, etc. this year there was an option to pay $60 for live tax expert instead. the GUI was so cumbersome and unhelpful, it was frustrating. I was not about to pay for a customer service experience that would have left me just as frustrated. Previous years were, the GUI was very polished, and easy to understand. There were very few mistakes made that I had to go back and correct. this year was so full of bugs, causing me to constantly go back and try to figure out what was wrong. This year took me over 6 hours to get me through something that would take me Barely 2 on a rough year. I can see the direction this product is taking, and I will not be using any more. I will be looking for a different option next year. Accuracy, Features, Guidance, and interface all were frustrating, cumbersome, and very user unfriendly this year. You need to do better.

Not As Good as Before -- Need Revisions

I've been a TurboTax user since the late 1980s, when it was called ChipSoft. Each year it seemed to get better -- until the 2025 edition of TurboTax. The ability to get "data source" info on lines of tax forms is VASTLY curtailed, as is the ability to initiate "overrides" if necessary. There were points where I was getting error messages on a number which was, in fact, not in error and the override function didn't work. I spent a LOT of time trying to finesse this and finally fudged the data to get the correct results. GRRR! I used to be able to get ALL my Vanguard data in a single transfer -- now it requires multiple steps for each account. If Vanguard is responsible for the extra complexity, as the largest tax prep company, Intuit should work out a more user-friendly solution with Vanguard and save everyone a ton of time. Yes, I'll continue to use TurboTax, but not as happily as before, unless they make at least the changes I have highlighted. And I strongly suspect I'm not alone.

MISSISSIPPI STATE RETURN GUIDANCE NEEDS WORK

The Federal portion was fine. The State (Mississippi) portion needs some work. There were a number of sections that were not very clear about what was needed. For example, it trying to ask me for income earned from two investments - both of which were the same one with a slightly different name. It took a while to find how to delete one of them. There were others, but I don't remember now what they were. Unfortunately, I didn't keep notes on that which I know isn't much help. Sorry.
