Far too many and confusing and somewhat redundant screens regarding INT and Div. The section re: IRA would not let me check the IRA box for my IRA RMD so I had to select Other in order for my taxes to be completed and E-filed. Didn't make sense! The import screen for financial institutions was also confusing this year and I had to try many times to get connected and the data downloaded. Other than that most of TurboTax was as easy enough to navigate

TurboTax failed to flag tax return for not using bank electronic direct deposit as the only option now accepted by IRS, as of Sep 2025. (Form 1040-SR, block 35a, b, c). IRS is sending notice that refund can't be processed and have 30 days to provide a bank account number.

I have been using TurboTax for decades. But this is my last year trying to use it. In my opinion, it has gone to the dogs. My tax circumstance cannot be much simpler. But rather than allowing the process to be a breeze, TurboTax somehow manages to convolute things and turn it into an ordeal. I used to find it pretty user-friendly. Not so these days. Instructions sometimes cannot be more opaque. It even managed to screw-up downloads of data from 1099 reports for accounts at a couple of financial institutions. Then when I had to manually enter figures instead, TurboTax actually crashed on me. Furthermore, TurboTax is already an expensive product compared to rivals. But it has become greedy and now uses every opportunity it can find to try to coax users into upgrading or purchasing add-ons. Cheesy sales tactics are something I expect at a used-car lot, not from my tax-preparation software.

I had numerous occasions where I had to go back a page or two or more to redo an answer because I misunderstood or was confused by the wording of a question. Also, and maybe it is me, but didn't there used to be a prompt at the top of the page so one could go directly to the form and see what had or had not been entered.

The questions in this software are often confusing and sometimes use double negatives, making them difficult to interpret even for a highly educated user. Instead of simplifying tax filing, the wording can feel unnecessarily complex and counterintuitive. In many cases, I found it easier to understand tax guidance from AI tools like ChatGPT, Gemini, or Claude than from the software itself. For a product meant to make taxes more accessible, the clarity of the questions needs significant improvement. I had to re-enter my entire tax return after the software accidentally overwrote my file with my son’s return. This was extremely frustrating and created unnecessary risk and wasted time. On top of that, it feels like a poor user experience to be charged an additional $25 just to e-file a state return after already spending significant time preparing everything. Overall, the software is not as reliable or user-friendly as expected for something this important.

I have done my own taxes for years and am even a certified tax preparer. Sections of this version of turbotax were unnecessarily difficult and the language vague. I think probably to influence me to get tax advice. I also didn't like the "online" version.

GARBAGE! chose file online and guess what? wasted 2 hours filling in state form to find out therey want $67 for something I purchased (SUPPOSE TO BE FREE STATE). Lost all data and wouldnt efile my federal. Had to go back on desktop and redo. Very deceitful. Extortion. YOU and your practice's have lost a LIFE-LONG Customer! FOREVER! NOOOOO TURBOTAX!

I have been using turbo tax for close to two decades. It's easy. However, this year I had an issue transmitting my return. I called turbo tax and spoke with Kashe Emma. She was so kind, helpful and understanding. Not only did she help me, she reassured me that everything would be ok. Her calmness helped me calm down. Kashe is a real gem. Her customer service is excellent. She truly is an asset to your company. She deserves a pay increase. Give her a pay increase.

This product is used because it is the most widely known. It works, but every year there are confusing features and disconnects between information on forms and what is available in the drop-down menus in the software. The options still dont include a "take the standard deduction" button...which is frustrating for veteran tax-filers who don't want to go through 30 menus on information they aren't going to fill out.

TurboTax makes preparing and filing our tax returns a simple and uneventful process. We've used it since it first came out and we have never had any errors with our returns. The program guides us through all the steps and provides simple explanations that easy to understand.
