Turbo Tax gets worse every single year

I have been using turbo tax for about 25 years. Every year the product gets worse with more glitches and every year the customer service gets worse. This year, the state retun won't print. I don't get any errors. I just get two blank pages where the state return should be. The supporting schedules show up fine. If I try to save to PDF, I get the same 2 blank pages.

Problem with downloading stock information

My wife and I each own separate shares of stock in some of the same and some different companies. I encountered a glitch when trying to download the stock information using Turbotax. We each had different sets of stock handled by Computershare. After downloading the information about my wife's stock successfully, I tried to download the information about my stock. But Turbotax then deleted all the information about my wife's stock. I had to then enter the information manually. Turobax needs to fix this glitch.

It's a complete and easy system to use

I entered all info required, but I don't understand why I had to do that because I knew ( from the 2024 filing) that we were not going to be able to itemize as we would get more back just using the standard deduction. It would have saved me a lot of time if I could have just went to the info I needed. On the other hand I may just have not understood how to do it. None the less, I do believe Turbo Tax is the way to go

Turbo Tax is great tax software when it works

The product is great, but the initial download did not work and after several tries tech support could not fix the issue, so I had to purchase a second time. You also would not accept any of my credit cards, so I had to spend $ 140 to get my electronic refund. Why??

Horrible updates process 2025

Sold me air ware in late December. Had to wait over a month for updates to enter our pension and 401 withdrawal income. Even then entry was difficult (versus prior years) and entry did was not able to distinguish between pension income and 401 k in basis.

Simple checks in the program before charging

Really bad guidance on State Taxes. Also, there is a charge to file State before e-filing then if there is a complication in e-filing you are required to request and wait to get the charge amount back. Simple checks in the program before charging should have noted that e-filing was not allowed.

unusual error

I had one problem . The federal audit did not catch an unused w-2 from 2024 and i didn't either. The e-file was rejected. I deleted the old w-2 and resubmitted it. It's very likely the IRS will reject it again because you only get one chance at filing.

Extra work for me

Vanguard info lists tax-exempt info for each state and U.S. Territories in percentages while Turbotax asks for dollar amounts. It would be nice if it could do the arithmetic for me. Also Vanguard lumps all US territories together whereas Turbotax asks for amounts for individual territories. I have to randomly pick one territory and apply entire amount for US territories to it.

Untrustworthy.. incorrectly imported data

Turbotax incorrectly imported 2 separate 1099-R forms from my Merrill-Lynch accounts. Had I not caught this mistake, the error would have caused me to overpay federal taxes by $700 and overpay state taxes by $600 (plus a state penalty of $70 for under-payment). If TTax can't even do a simple import correctly, it seriously shakes my confidence in the entire product.

Turbo Tax is great and easy to use

I did not use live expert, but I did have an issue when I needed to pay for filing my state taxes it wouldn't accept my credit card if it expired past August, thankfully I had another card that expired in July, but anything past August the system would not accept, that is a definite flaw, but as far as the tax program I am a fan, I have been using it for over 25 years.
