Turbo Tax is GREAT

Although I paid the $25.00 fee, I'm not sure if my State (Virginia) return was complete. I did not see a form to sign and mail but yet the return went thru. Don't know if it will be accepted. Hope someone will let me know what went wrong and how to correct it. Thank you.

Chronic persistent longstanding window size issue

On my Mac I experience the same interface issue every year I do not understand why you have not fixed it. The payment page for a second state return does not show the top of the form where the name is entered. This means that the order is not accepted. I thought it was a Mac window maximize/minimize issue. It is not. It is a TurboTax window size problem. You need to fix it. PLEASE! The workaround comes from a 2019 post on your community site: move the dock to vertical. It is a TurboTax window size problem. You need to fix it. PLEASE!

It Works

Everything went well until payment to Intuit from the personal info page. All pages were a good size to work with, however the "continue bar" to pay could not be done because the page was too long. Having to use a Windows 11 laptop for Turbotax this year, I finally figured out how to remove the Task Bar to access the almost bottom of the page. There was a bug in the state payment software last year and the lady on the phone was most helpful correcting the problem; only it was too late to send in a five-star compliment.

Fix the NY State bug

Had to "fudge" my return by entering amounts in form 1099-R Box 16 "State Distribution" for forms that were received with that box blank. For NY State return, TT stated State Tax withheld cannot be greater than Gross Distribution or State Distribution. As Gross Distribution is always greater than State Tax withheld, TT should compare State Tax Withheld to Gross Distribution for acceptance.

Disappointed

I have been using Turbo Tax for at least the last 15 years and this is the most frustrating experience that I have had in a long while. Unless SIGNIFICANT changes are made to the software, I will NOT be using it again and will NOT recommend it to anyone. Issues: 1) Donation Input - This was ridiculously time consuming, cumbersome and impractical. Last year, there was a dropdown list with recommended values that was extremely helpful. This year's format of documenting EACH INDIVIDUAL ITEM was irritating to no end. It would simply be easier to tell people that you cannot deduct contributions, instead of presenting a format that requires you to jump through so many hoops. Will NEVER use this again. 2) IRA Contributions - The instructions for this were confusing. And I also did not appreciate the attempted upsell to Premier to "maximize my IRA deductions/contributions. I had to go over this section twice before I understood. 3) Payment - Several of the payment pages did not display properly, they did not scroll all the way to the bottom; consequently, I had to figure out a work around to select the "continue"/button to advance to the next page. This was especially worrisome and difficult when I was trying to pay for my state filing. 4) The issue with payment cause another issue: my mouse disappeared on the payment screen(s). Because, I have a touch screen, I was able to work around this, but what if I didn't have a touch screen. Then what? 5) Too much selling and not enough explanation - It seemed that the main focus of the software was to get you to buy another add-on (Audit help/a more expensive version of the software) verses accurate preparation of tax returns. 6) I hated the use of scare tactics to try to entice people to purchase Audit protection...telling people that you might have to pay as much as $2,000 for audit assistance if you wait...shameful. 7) "Walk me through everything" was less helpful than in years past. I found myself continually going "back" to read and re-read...just more work that it needed to be.

Product Not up to Prior Standards

I am most unhappy with the changes in the product--no "It's Deductible", cannot review forms before filing (yes, I read the instructions, but preview is not an option unless the return is open an you cannot open the return until it's filed--had to print. I made an error initially reporting a 1099R as a 403 B-it was not and I corrected, but the form kept citing an "error" for simplified method which is not what this is, and the correction that was input multiple times did not stop Turbo Tax from asking for info that was no part of the 1099 R. Also tax returns saved on the computer would not upload from last year, so everything had to be re-entered. As a long time Turbo Tax user, I am very disappointed in this product.

Turbo Tax

I have been a faithful user of Turbo Tax for more than ten years - in the past I was a huge fan of the product - its simplicity, its accuracy, its ease of guiding me through the entire process of filling my Federal & state taxes each year was top notch - since the changes that made the product no longer available on a disc that could be loaded onto my computer, and required me to use it as an online product, I have experienced nothing but problems - maybe because I don't understand all the intricacies of using the product, maybe because of slow wifi, or slow internet or whatever, I do not know why; but all I do know is I have problems now that I never experienced in the past, and therefore the product "quality" has dropped significantly in my view - in fact for the first time since I began using Turbo Tax, this year I looked for an alternative product that may be more "user friendly" to me.

Turbo is great!

When your product was changed to Windows 11, I could not upgrade my old computer, so I had to buy a new one. Learning how the new computer worked was time consuming. Making sure that I got my old data to the new computer was a challenge! It worked. Getting my 1099s from some of the sources was very time consuming (OPM and Social Security were the most difficult. Hope they fix that. Your program made the finish sweet!

Problems solved but frustrating

After not using TurboTax for one month and doing a preliminary tax return I was unable to open the TurboTax app. I had to call for assistance which took well over an hour to remedy. We were however able to get it to work finally. As I remember I had a similar issue on a different computer a few years ago. Frustrating, hoping it doesn't fail again since I do have a few other tax returns to complete

using for over 10 years love it

I fully recommend buying turbo tax for desktop. I purchase deluxe, includes a free state, ALSO, easy to look at forms as you go, easy to go back and redo items as well. Plus I can file 5 tax returns for free for less money then the app version/online.
