Downloading issues

Unfortunately the initial download process was very confusing regarding on line or desk top for me a long term desk top user. The transfer of the 2024 turbo tax documents to the new 2025 turbo tax did not work at all for m in the on line mode so I had to use the desktop mode which was difficult but doable. I also do not understand the advantage of going to the on line mode. Seems it could be hacked easier than my desktop.

problem with K-3

I have used Turbo Tax for years. There is a glitch in the software for 2025 in the handling of the K-3 reporting. Where interest is allocated and reported as US the system should subtract US from the total and show the difference. In my case, zero foreign interest. The system does not do this calculation and there seeks foreign income to offset US expense and creates an error message through out. Otherwise a great product.

Usually Great, but Not This Year

I'm usually a big fan of Turbo Tax, but the 2025 filing year version was a total mess. 1) Pushed me to go into the online version which has a different interface and does not give you access to the actual underlying tax forms you're filling out. 2) constant interuptions trying to upsell me to audit defense and live tax support. 3) bugs that were not resolved even though they're being discussed in the turbo tax user community. Had to use a post on reddit to resolve an issue.

Great Way To File Taxes for Seniors

As a retired senior of 82 years I find that with TurboTax Premier I can easily do my own taxes. I have IRAs, dividends, interest, etc. and all of this is easily melded into the IRS return. This is done in my own home at my leisure. No need to turn everything over to a tax consultant and pay high prices. I've been doing this for years and will continue to do my taxes with TurboTax.

TurboTax Premier is the best

I've used TurboTax Premier for many years now. The program makes it easy to complete a tax return. The accuracy and interface make it easy to understand what and why it's needed. I have on occasion used support for a problem I didn't understand with great results.

TurboTax Premier 2025

Foreign Tax Paid was improved this year to allow more than 1 worksheet, which was helpful. But the instructions in that section were somewhat vague, and after reviewing Worksheet 1 I had to make edits because the first country's dividend entries were double-counted. Also, the default print settings result in images only 40% of actual size in the center of the page. It wasn't until I had printed the first time that I knew I had to change the print settings by expanding the details and making the adjustment. Very frustrating.

TurbTax Has Quality Has Declined Significantly

I have been using TurboTax for many decades to prepare and file my Federal and State returns. This year (and last year) were far more problematic than past experience. For example, I pay all of my charitable contributions directly from my IRA which at my age reduces my taxable income without having to choose the option of itemizing deductions. For the 2025 return I could not get TurboTax to reduce my taxable income in recognition of the QCDs made from my IRA, In desperation I turned to ChatGPT which provided a work around to solve the problem. There were a number of other glitches that were very time consuming to figure out how to work around them. I did not bother to point out the problems to Turbotax because of what happened last year. When working on my 2024 returns I had identified a programing error in my state return when it computed my required estimated payments for 2025. If I had not identified the problem I would have been subjected to to a serious penalty for underpaying my state estimated payments for 2025. I spent hours on the phone with TurboTax tech people to get them to fix the problem. They said the only way they could verify the problem would be to remotely take over my computer and see for themselves what was going on. However, they could not get the remote control program to work. I said, o.k., I will send you a screen shot. The TurboTax tech folks said that would not work. They had to do it themselves. After wasting several hours with them I gave up and my state program continued to have the programming error I had identified. This year, when the time came to print and file my returns the program hung up with a spinning wheel that just kept going around and around for a very long time claiming it was "Calculating." At that point in the process there was nothing left to calculate. I could only get the spinning wheel of death to stop by clicking on the "Back" button and then going forward again. This happened several times. In addition, at one point in the process a pop-up told me I should purchase the Premier version of the program rather than stick with the Deluxe version I was using. I purchased the "upgrade"it in an abundance of caution. However, my 2025 return was not materially different than in previous years and the Deluxe version always worked well and I never had to buy a different version while working on my returns. Lastly, the version of Deluxe I originally purchased included a $10 credit for in app purchases. I did not see that credit appear when purchasing the Premier upgrade of the program or when I paid the charge for the e-file of my State return. Given the problems I have run into last year and this year it is hard to give TurboTax a positive rating.rience

RMD problems...Turbo Tax interview failure

There is a problem with the interview on how to enter IRA RMDs when they are taken from one account. The program seems to want you to take them individually from each IRA account or you end up with a error in the taxes. This was a problem in 2024 and still exists in the 2025 version.

Turbo Tax is Wonderful.!

I have used TurboTax for more years than I can remember. It easily and accurately pulls in information from my prior year return. I download the software to my computer vs using the online version. With having the software on my computer, I am also able to create an estimated tax return for the following year to aid in determining my estimated tax payments. When running the Smart Check, I usually only encounter a few items that need to be addressed. This year I used the Turbo Tax Community Support in mid January for my Wisconsin tax return in order to find out how to elect to take the new WI Retirement Income Subtraction to offset my pension income. There was a topic already started on this issue. The issue was eventually resolved later in January in one of the software updates (just need to be patient). However, I would like to see Turbo Tax make that tax benefit election more visible in Schedule SB. It currently is "hidden" in the "Retirement Income Adjustments" selection. But when this is selected, the next screen that comes up lists 4 obscure retirement items, but does not show the new WI Retirement Income Subtraction until you click "Continue" and then the question about electing this tax benefit appears (assuming one is eligible for it). The e-filing process for both the federal and state tax returns was easy and successfully completed. In fact, my federal return was already accepted shortly after filing. .

Turbotax has made it harder to import

Turbotax has made it much harder to import last year's turbotax data into this year's form. When I tried to import, it couldn't find the 2024 Turbotax form. I searched for advice, and finally learned that I needed to remove the encryption on the old form, and also change the name. This import used to be almost automatic, why did they make it harder?
