It does come with a built in level both horizontal and vertical. Also a small ruler on the stud finder. It did work on my finished walls and I did try it on particle wood I have unpainted in my laundry room. Overall it does what it claims.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The StudBuddy Plus can be a very useful tool for multiple uses around the home and even in some trade situations. There are two level bubbles. One for horizontal leveling and one for vertical leveling. On the edges, there are rulers. Inches on one side and metrics on the other side. The instructions tell you to scan the wall from side to side to find studs. That sounds great, but that's not the way it really works. You can't find wooden studs with this stud finder. You can only find nails or screws that are in the studs, using the magnets on the StudBuddy. If used to find metal studs, it should work as advertised. While the packaging says The StudBuddy Plus works with all drywall construction, in theory, it should work with wood panels or other types of wall board. So long as their are metallic nails or screws in those types of wall board.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is super easy to use and finds studs very fast. You just put it against the wall and slide it will stop to a the stud. I highly recommend this product!!! My 5 year old daughter helped find studs so if she can do can you lol.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is a handy tool for anyone to have. I use it to hang pictures especially if they are big one because I need to find a stud. I used it to hang my 65 in tv on the wall. It works great. It has a level and also a small ruler on the side which comes in handy. Three tools all in one! Now i don’t have to get my husband to hang stuff for me! The packaging gives clear i instructions on how to work it and how to find the studs!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The StudBuddy Plus can be very helpful providing you have walls constructed in your home or business in a manner where it will work for you. It really seems to work very well provided that the drywall is installed with conventional drywall nails or screws but if it were installed with wire brads such as are often used in manufactured or mobile homes, it becomes more difficult to use. The brads are so small that even with the strong magnet in the tool it can not stick to the wall. You can however find the brads as there is some resistance felt when you cross over them with the tool. If the wall is constructed with metal studs, the tool will stick to the wall at the metal stud without even needing to find a screw. It comes with both a vertical and a horzontal level along with a 6" measure on one side and a 152 mm measure on the other. It also has two felt pads, one on each end, on the rear side that slides over the wall to help protect the wall from scratches. As stated before the tool has a strong magnet inside that finds the nails, screws, and even the metal studs but it also seems to find any other metal tool it gets close to. The best part about this tool is that NO BATTERIES are ever required and there is nothing to wear out. I will say I was skeptical about how well such a simple tool would work but after using it I am impressed.

Finds wood and metal studs. It has a ruler in inches, and centermeters on both sides. Even works in manufactured homes. Made in the USA. I highly recommend.

It will stay attached to the wall where there are metal fasteners and let's you use it hands free to hang shelves, pictures, cabinetry and much more. Stays on the wall with fairly strong magnets if your drywall isn't too thick.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I was very skeptical about this stud finder. To my amazement it worked very well. You need to do long narrow swipes but it worked great. Now I don't need to tap on the walls in hopes of finding the studs just to find my hearing was off and poking un needed holes in the walls with nails. The 2 levels on it are a great idea for leveling picture, art work and wall decor. you can also use the level in other applications other than on the wall. Definitely recommend this for ease of use, dependability and price.

Just drag it along the wall and the magnet to slow your movement when it comes to a nail. The photo shows it clinging to the wall on a nail. Of course, the nails are on the studs. Super easy.
