It will stay attached to the wall where there are metal fasteners and let's you use it hands free to hang shelves, pictures, cabinetry and much more. Stays on the wall with fairly strong magnets if your drywall isn't too thick.

This has been a life saver for my walls.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I found this stud finder too difficult for my taste. The other type that used batteries is a much better option in my opinion. This stud finder relies on a magnet to find the screws used to install your Sheetrock. I know where the studs are in parts of my walls, such as near the outlets and light switches. Using this magnet type stud finder, I had a hard time even finding studs that were quite obvious. If you have the patience to move this all over the wall to find a stud, then by all means purchase this. I use the battery operated ones without issue and they quickly locate a stud without up and down motion and without zig zagging all over the wall.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The StudBuddy Plus can be very helpful providing you have walls constructed in your home or business in a manner where it will work for you. It really seems to work very well provided that the drywall is installed with conventional drywall nails or screws but if it were installed with wire brads such as are often used in manufactured or mobile homes, it becomes more difficult to use. The brads are so small that even with the strong magnet in the tool it can not stick to the wall. You can however find the brads as there is some resistance felt when you cross over them with the tool. If the wall is constructed with metal studs, the tool will stick to the wall at the metal stud without even needing to find a screw. It comes with both a vertical and a horzontal level along with a 6" measure on one side and a 152 mm measure on the other. It also has two felt pads, one on each end, on the rear side that slides over the wall to help protect the wall from scratches. As stated before the tool has a strong magnet inside that finds the nails, screws, and even the metal studs but it also seems to find any other metal tool it gets close to. The best part about this tool is that NO BATTERIES are ever required and there is nothing to wear out. I will say I was skeptical about how well such a simple tool would work but after using it I am impressed.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This definitely comes in handy, It works on most my walls, some of of my walls the magnet can't pick up any screws, or any kind of metal, but that maybe because some of my walls are thin floating walls that most likely don't have many screws in the studs. I think it's a great tool to have, I don't know how many times I've had trouble finding a stud this helps a lot.

There are two levels on it as well to help finding the rest of the stud or even to hang a few pictures even with each other. Works well.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I’ve always wanted a stud finder, so when I saw this StudBuddy, I decided to give it a try. I enjoy hanging super heavy artwork and framed mirrors, which require deeper anchoring. Until now, I wasn’t able to hang some of them due to their weight. It makes me cringe to damage drywall, especially in a brand new home. This StudBuddy found the studs behind the drywall with little effort. Just follow the illustration on the back of the package. I also love the two built-in levels (horizontal and vertical). The stud finder is lightweight and easy to grasp while searching. Best of all, this little device attaches itself to the wall when it finds a stud (wood or metal). It requires no batteries because it works via magnetic field. So, be sure to read the warning on the back of the package regarding keeping the device away from credit cards and electronics. Anyway, to my relief, I knew once I’d driven the first nail into the wall, it had accurately located the studs. This product is a much-needed staple to my tool collection. For anyone needing a superior stud finder, I would highly recommend the StudBuddy. You won’t be disappointed.

The kind with the lights and/or beeps that indicate where studs are. And those take batteries. They never work properly and the batteries die or corrode inside them while they sit in my tool room. This tool sticks to the wall when you find a stud. So easy. just move it around until it hangs on the wall and go from there. No batteries required. And it's got a level function built in to. I have the StudBuddy hanging on my fridge for quick access now.

You can located studs and there’s also a built in level. It’s not a bulky item either, which I always appreciate! Stores simply in our little tool box.
