We have used TurboTax for many years and have been pleased with how user-friendly it is. Although we don't purchase TurboTax's additional services, we have great confidence in the annual Tax Return prep software and purchase the Deluxe version with Fed & State every year.

Previous years' I'd give 5 stars. The 2025 version is a downgrade from previous years. The 2025 version removed many key features that Turbotax users depend on. The deployed software was clunky, went through updates that changed the program flow, obviously not ready to take in basic info and process from someone whose used the software for over a decade.

I submitted my taxes but it got rejected because I inputed an incorrect Federal Indentification number. I corrected it and resubmitted the rejected tax return but I had to input my credit card information again. If my taxes are accepted, will my credited be charged the second time?

In the past, I have been able to save my filed tax return as a PDF and encrypt the document. This year, it again gave me that option, but it failed to encrypt, making the file more susceptible to being hacked. I also had some challenges with the program itself. On multiple occasions, I opened it and something was off - my previous work was not showing up. I was afraid I had lost all the work I had spent time on and would have to start again. In addition, it was hard to figure out how to get out of the situation. I was eventually able to close and re-open until the correct information was there.

Using the software is very easy. However, installation process was difficult. It constantly connected me to the online process when I had purchased the desktop version. Additionally, sign in to the Turbo Tax/ Intuit site was impossible for me. Simplifying these two areas would make this a great expeerience.

I have been using Turbo Tax for over 20 years now and am happy with it overall. My only suggestion is to get someone to help you write "Guidance" balloons that can translate said expert info into PLAIN LANGUAGE that the rest of can understand. In other words, the experts need to remember what they didn't know when they didn't know it. I spent more then 2 hours trying to figure the directions on sales of stock/crypto, etc. For instance, your wording regarding crypto ownership is NOT the same as that I found on my 1040 AFTER I filed. So, now it looks like I owned Bitcoin as a result of gift, gaming, reward, etc. - when I bought it outright. How much problem that will be - I don't know....but, if I get audited, I will be taking advantage of my free Audit coverage <G>

Very disappointed in Turbo Tax this year. User experience and easy to follow instructions are very weak. I've been using Turbo Tax since 2011 and I have never encountered the technical issues or lack of ease of use ever. I encountered a recurring error on the MO-CR form that I had to read online how to get rid of it. I had a pop-up with an inaccurate number from the previous year return identified. And overall easability was lacking extensively. Not the same Turbo Tax from years prior.

I purchased expert advice for $50.00 US. I spoke to an agent named Antonio. We discussed the issues I was having and he was very gracious in realizing that I had more knowledge in the US/Canada Tax Treaty than he had . When I taught him the required items from the treaty, it was recognizable that the tax software did not allow direct methods to solve the issues of US Social Security taxed only in Canada and the exclusion of eared income from Canada for a US citizen living in Canada. Antonio was extremely appreciative of this new knowledge and hopefully Turbo Tax will adjust the software to account for these issues. Consideration should be given to allow a Canadian resident to e-file their taxes.

Would have been 5 stars, but when attempting to file, product failed validation and I had to wait until another update was available to download to clear. I think that the updates take a long time. Also, I noticed that the access to my computer popup is behind the TurboTax banner and not off to the side where I can see it and give permission to allow access. This results in an error that is not clearly defined, i.e. "Must grant access to computer for updates to be installed" instead a cryptic message is shown that doesn't have any relationship to the give access popup.
