I was lied to too. I had issues filing at the end. I ended up working with several techs. They assured I'd be reimbursed for upgrading. They were trouble shooting why the file wouldn't send. They hoped that upgrading the version I was using would fix the issue. They gave me a code to submit for a refund for 70 dollars. I got an email fairly quick denying it. I ended up spending nearly 3 hours with a tech named Paul working on the issue.,

Vanguard info lists tax-exempt info for each state and U.S. Territories in percentages while Turbotax asks for dollar amounts. It would be nice if it could do the arithmetic for me. Also Vanguard lumps all US territories together whereas Turbotax asks for amounts for individual territories. I have to randomly pick one territory and apply entire amount for US territories to it.

In the Iowa state return Turbo Tax tells me how to determine if I am required to file a state return but doesn't pull the numbers together for me which would have saved me much time and aggravation. I would like to see what is fixed when Turbo Tax releases an update.

On the whole the software is excellent. I nicked it one star because when I double-click my return on my desktop the program opens, but no page appears. This happens even if there are updates offered and I click to update the software. The only way I can get updates or my return to open is if I start the software from the dock or from the applications folder. Then I have to select Open from the File menu and select my return. At that point i am offered Updates (which will download and install) and my return opens. The other issues is that I then have to go through sections of my return I've already finished rather than being taken to the place where I left off. I'll probably use an open-source tax program on-line next year to try to avoid these recurring problems with TurboTax.

Probably have used Turbo Tax for 10+ years and getting pretty comfortable with it. The only issue I find is difficulty finding the location for unusual items, such as calculating estimated tax payments for the following year or specific questions like energy credits. Part of the issue is that I don't use the interview process due to my familiarity with income taxes and the Turbo Tax process. Maybe a link to IRS forms and IRS instructions would help.

Great experience with Turbo Tax. I will be honest with you. In 2023, I was having difficulty with the module to physically pay for the California state e-filing option. I had issues going from your app to the Turbo Tax payment app. It was frustrating and time consuming. I ended up trying to contact your organization by telephone but apparently did not reach you. Ultimately, a hacker got through to my computer and created a big problem for me. That experience caused me to switch to H&R Block for 2024. However, the style of the software wasn't as good as what I had been accustomed to expect for all these years (decades actually). So, I switched back to your product and was very satisfied with it. Especially the seamless paying for the California e-file option with my credit card. Am back to being very satisfied with your product. Great accuracy, features are great, guidance continues to be excellent. Interfaces improved per my discussion above.

Having used TurboTax for years, I can say that the program has improved in accuracy, features, and guidance over time. I prefer to do my own taxes and TurboTax allows me to do so rather than paying someone to fill in the forms after I have already had to do all of the legwork. Step-by-step guidance with the option to toggle between forms and the step-by-step is helpful, especially since I now have to go to forms to add supporting documents (I used to be able to do that in step-by-step by right-clicking on the relevant box). Additional help pop-ups are helpful as well.

Turbo Tax initially informed me on 2/8/26 that my taxes were transmitted successfully. But in fact they (Fed taxes and State taxes) did not transmit successfully. I discovered 5 days later that my taxes did not transmit when I checked for the status of my taxes.

The section that asks about entering Block 16 (State Distribution) from my 1099R must be explained in more detail in the program. I don't have a block 16 on my 1099R, so I didn't know what to enter. I had to search online to determine to enter my block 2A figure (taxable income).

I docked the product because initially I intended to file "online" after years of preparing the returns using the product "using the computer". I found the "online" product to be cumbersome for me. It was difficult for me to follow the "flow" of my entries. I did not feel comfortable using the product in this fashion.
