No longer easy to use

This year's TurboTax was the worst year I had dealing with the product. Most of it stemmed from not being able to use the interface to use a credit card to pay for an additional state download or the state e-filing fee. A customer service representative was able to help me get the additional state download after being on the phone for an hour. A second customer service representative indicated that because I received a partial credit based on an email that Intuit sent me my license was cancelled and I would have to purchase another version of the software in order to e-file my state return. This used to be easy and I fail to understand why the issues don't get resolved because i can see I am not the only person experiencing them.

Need better instructions & Reminders regarding PIN

All was great. Love TurboTax except it would be helpful to have TurboTax remind you if you have a PIN int the past that you have a new PIN each year that you must retrieve from the IRS and update within TurboTax as well as have decent instructions on how and where to change the pin within TurboTax if you have a pin rather then let you submit the return and then have it come back rejected and have to Google how to retrieve and where within TurboTax you have to go to input the PIN.

Just mediocre

Removing it's deductible is a huge failure. Very frustrating and a decision that should cost someone a job or at least a bonus. The UI is mixed otherwise. At times it seems advanced but then you'll do the same thing in another spot and the UI is terrible.

Turbo Tax is Awesome

Apparently I have to submit a review in order to get the program to stop sending me these annoying messages about not completing the process. The federal and state government's have accepted my returns. I received my tax refund but still get these emails. Maybe this will help.

Desktop Version is still awesome, On Line not so

On-Line version was NOT the same as desktop. I expected virtual look and feel and same outcome (pdf files, filing options) as desktop. Exited On-Line and shifted back to your known and trusted product. Particularly upsetting and off-putting was option at On-Line file step to pay $59 to e-file State or "Delete state return". (!) Desktop gives you options (to mail if you want) and if you chose e-file, state it is only $25.

Disappointed

Every year it seems the software gets worse and there's less functionality too help oneself problem solve, understand one's entries and how they tie to forms/worksheets. I guess that's because Intuit/TT wants to upsell their services. The foreign tax credit piece is fraught with errors.

If you can, stay away from TurboTax.

Annoying interface. It's distracting and a bit misleading. Can cause user errors. Also, I don't like that I must have a TurboTax account to create my tax return. I don't want TurboTax to keep my personal and financial data on file so they can sell it or share with others like Rocket Mortgage.

Not Nearly as Good as Previous Versions

Frustrated with this year's version. One key positive feature WAS It's Deductible and TurboTax did NOT let the user know that it had dropped that feature until after the program was purchased and the user went to donations. Infuriating!!! Also, something is wrong with the interface and importing of documents from Chase bank. Not all my documents showed up and of the ones that did, information was missing and needed to be added during the review. But that information was not available on any of the tax documents that I received from Chase.

Turbo Tax Quality is degrading

Similar to my review a year ago, my experience with TurboTax does not meet the standards that Turbo Tax has earned and established over 30 years. i've used Turbo Tax since about Windows 95/98 or Win 2000. i could always count on the product to be accurate and reliable. No longer. in the current version i encountered at least a dozen broken links; lack of Help Information; lack of a Data Source; etc. Lack of a Data Source makes it very difficult to make a change when the data cannot be found. E.G. 1) The 'audit' said i could not have a basis in a leased vehicle on the Car/Truck worksheet. it had a zero (that i did not input) and would not allow me to "blank out" the zero. 2) It did not prompt me or allow me anywhere in the Interview to work on Form 8962.i had to find it in Forms Mode to work on it. i use the Desktop version. it 'feels like' the Desktop version has problems due to integration with your SAAS software model. If 'feels like' your quality control folks did not process enough use cases. A few other tax experts (friends) I've spoken with have had siiar (similar) experience. 3) even spell check in this review is messed up. i just typed "similar"; the spell cheker changed ti to 'silar'. and changed 'checker' to 'cheker'. I'll probably ued (i typed "use" and spell cheker changed it to 'ued') TurboTax next yer (spell checker changed "year" to "yer"), but my confidence in hepoduct (spell checker changed "in the product" to "in hepoducet") is highly diminished.

Online vs. Desktop versions are different

Not enough information provided on some steps. Questions are not always witten in an easy to understand manner. The user is not notified that if you choose to pay the state e-file fee using a debit to your bank account, that you will be charged $40. If you pay by credit card, there is not fee. Even after troubleshooting, I could not determine how to correct this, thus am now filing by mail. Hopefully, my account will not be debited on the date that I assigned. And, why the online versions of a given version are different than a desktop version is maddening! I entered all my data in online TT two times and was pompted to upgrade based upon the forms that I had to file, while the desktop version offers that in a lower priced version. I purchased the desktop version. Ultimately, I entered my data three times. So frustrating and a huge waste of my time!
