Turbo your taxes

There are minor quirks, and it does not address all situations, but with guidance from the Internet and other sources you can work around. Examples include the use of 1098T documents by parents, which have been sent in the student's name. Overall, I've found Turbotax to be a good solution. I've used it for a long time, and will continue to do so.

Turbo Tax IS awesome!

I have been using Turbo Tax for many years. I love how it carries forward prior years' information and how straight forward the step-by-step process is. I very much appreciate not having to type in all of my Charles Schwab investment information each year. I also love being able to do a couple of extra returns for my family. I appreciate the accuracy and consistency each year, as well as Turbo Tax keeping up on all of the tax law changes. Thank you!

unnesessary update required

I have used turbotax online edition for years. This version is annoyingly complicated. Your abandonment of Win 10 seems motivated by profit only. Many of your customers have not up dated to Win 10 and forcing then to update is complicated and unnecessary. My experience really sucked.

software problem

There appears to be a software problem with Turbotax 2025. While trying to file my energy credit Turbotax wouldn't allow me to put in my street, city, state or zip code. I also tried inputing this into the form. Still Turbotax would not let me do it . Then, when checking for errors Turbotax identified that the address was missing and would not allow me to e-file my taxes.

Drives me crazy as usual

Turbo Tax always drives me crazy and I curse it every year. So: Why do you think I have a Canadian Pension Fund and force me to delete it. Why do you lump a whole lot of income under 'Pension' which are NOT pension. It makes double checking my entries more difficult.

Mostly favorable experience with download Turbotax

I always have used the downloaded version, I'm used to it. I am concerned about the online version. I need to talk with one of you about the pros and cons. I suggest having a quick overview of new tax law provisions at the beginning to know what to expect. I spent an hour or more looking this up myself . Also provide an easier way to figure out Identity Protection PIN - it's buried deep in the "Other tax situations" with limited explanation.

Feedback and issues.

Turbo Tax seems to have done a reasonably good job with data and calculations. However, the print on screen is very small. There should have been an early warning that the software needed an update to e-file! Instead, it let me go all the way through the e-file process only to alert me that there was a problem and it couldn't continue. That was very frustrating.

Buggy and annoying

The constant ads to upgrade are annoying. The desktop version suddenly got the beachball of death and I had to force quit. When I reopened everything was gone. I panicked. Fortunately, there was an "unsaved" version I could access by searching. Prior to filing I tried to save my return as a pdf and it quit unexpectedly. I had to revisit a few screens to get back to where I was. Better to save a pdf after you file.

fix the obi

Your software needs a refresh. There are too many times when forms are labeled untitled and included when not needing to be completed. also, qualified business income and deductions needs to be cleaned up. since a person's name appear in the name for the business it gets really hard and nearly impossible to know which business is under the drop down options of NAME NAME NAME or NAME. all being identical!

Product could be improved

I have been using Turbo-Tax software for a couple of decades. It is very useful but each year there have been glitches that could be fixed for the future but rarely are. For example, the interest on US Government Securities portion of mutual funds have always been reported as a percentage (BY T. Rowe Price, Fidelity, Schwab etc..), Turbo tax wants it to be entered as a dollar amount, necessitating calculations outside the software. Other tax software, such as H&R Block, do ask for the information as a percentage--making it straight forward to enter the data. Another issue this year, was that TT wanted us to file our State Taxes by paper --since our individual filing status for the state was different. We needed to prepare two Mock Federal returns etc--which is fine. Finally for printing and filing, TT was not clear about which Federal return to attach. The built in help was also not useful. A google search gave the answer. Another case of internal inconsistency was that--although TT insisted that we file the state taxes by paper, at later stages it kept asking whether we wanted to e-file. Even now the final file looks incomplete since there was no way to indicate that the paper copies have already been filed for the state....
