hate constant upsell

Have used turbotax for many years and have found the interface is becoming less user friendly than previous years - example: when correcting errors I would hope that I could click on error message and be connected with error. I hate the constant attempt to up sell - I feel like I'm a car dealership - and being sold undercoating and some kind of exotic wax treatment after the sale has been made

Turbo Tax failed me this yeatr

Your search function sucked. It was difficult to access and wasted a lot of time. My State return could not possibly be correct- there's no way I paid $12,000m in State taxes. I filed for an extension instead.. Turbo Tax failed me this year-I won't be using it again

48 Hrs for an email delivery is ridiculous

Having to wait 48 hours for delivery on an email delivery order is ridiculous. I would have been better ordering it from Club and having it delivered. When I went back and looked at the product page, after I had ordered to not returnable email version, it does say it takes 48 hours, but clearly not obvious enough.

It's all there, but you better know how to use it

I have used it for years and typically have no issues and get back what I feel that I am due. However this year I needed to include a specific form with my return and when I went through the guided walkthrough instead of asking me additional question to actually determine the correct application of an entry TurboTax just decided that wasn't necessary and claimed the entry was income and didn't offer the form I knew for a fact must be included to exclude the entry as income. Fortunately, since I've used the product for so many years I knew I could access it and fill the form in via the menu and was able to correctly include the entries on the applicable form. If I was unaware of this it could have cause a inaccurate return and financially costly mistake.

Confusing directions when filing status changes

The program is frustrating because it asks for things that IRS does not require, such as driver's license. It repeatedly asks i I, a Texas resident, need to file a state return. Once should be enough. Also, this year when I first filled in my data, it failed to calculate. It's the first year I've been single, and it kept asking for spouse's information regarding all my pensions (I have three now), and it was unclear whether it was me or my deceased husband to which it referred. I finally got that straightened out, but it was very annoying. This is the first year I haven't rated TurboTax a 5, but it certainly wasn't very intuitive regarding changes necessary because I'm now a widow, filing status single.

2025 Changes have Dumbed Down the software

2025 changes eliminated the tables for 1099R, Div, Int. I liked the table format better. It had more visibility and was easier to work with. TT has "dumbed down" the interface TOO MUCH! I want MORE visibility in WHAT, WHY, and Reason for how the entries are being handled. I want TT to provide MORE information on what it is doing with my entries.

Not what it once was

Removal of Its Deductible was a big negative impact on time to complete my taxes. Also, swapping between forms and step by step caused the software to freeze about 60% of the time requesting that I go back to the last step I was working on and usually requiring me to restart the software. Both things made for an annoying tax time this year. After 30+ years, I might have to rethink how I do my taxes next year.

Pretty good if you know what you're doing.

Mostly pretty good, but some glitches exist. It sent me ack to the main menu of deductions a few times when it discovered I was not qualified for a particular deduction instead of continuing the interview. It also asks for your name and address in several places even though you have already provided it. It should just ask you if it should use your home address.

Turbo Tax 2025 needs a rework

I am a CPA who specializes in tax, and the software changes for TY2025 were confusing not only to me, but to my family members who called me in frustration. I spent significant time helping them over the phone as a result of these changes. My family stated they are inclined to try a different tax provider next year due to their frustration this year. PLEASE rework the TY2025 changes so that the software is more friendly to the average taxpayer. While trying to find answers to the TY 2025 software issues, I found that many taxpayers were experiencing the same issues. The most frustrating was the Schedule D digital asset check box not being selected and having to review each asset sale to select the check box. My sister had 134 non-digital asset sales to individually select. This is obviously a defect in the software. By the way, the AI to type this message is worse than aweful to use as it keeps correcting my typing, such as "te" rather than "the". Knock it off. AI is not yet reliable, and everyone in tax and accounting knows this to be true. ALL TYPO'S ARE COURTESY OF YOUR TERRIBLE AI MODEL.

Still a good program

It is still simple and easy to use. Although, there was a glitch that would not allow last year's info to be transferred, but it was corrected the next day. When the problem initially happened, your AI assistant blamed it on my 'corrupt' file. But I checked out my file and found it to be okay. I just shut it down and came back the next day hoping you all found that your program was iffy. And so it was. When I booted it up the next day, and the update happened, it worked.
