Purchased code did not work

The software code purchase was for "download Only" and would NOT WORK for the website version. I have used TurboTax for many years and this was the worst experience. I spent way too much time figuring out how and why there was an issue--I was not the only one to have this problem. I need to be refunded my $25 state filing fee--AT LEAST--for the extra time and trouble I had to figure out how and why the two versions were different and the code was unable to be used. This is supposed to be quick and easy--it was far from that. Disappointed in the extra time I had to spend on what should have been quick and easy in the past. Far from it this year. Figure it out!

Got the job done

I don't like being offered upgrades during the return process - just let me get my tax returns done. When paying taxes due, I was sent to the Maryland state payment site but it did not take me back to TurboTax. After about 5 minutes, I used the back button (yeah, I know), I got a "payment didn't go through" error message, so I put in the same information a second time and it processed successfully. It still didn't take me back to TT so I used my tabs to return to the program to file the returns electronically. I found this unnecessarily confusing. I do like the feature that imports last year's data and having the option to import financial data from outside sources.

Wouldn't let me e-file

It wouldn't let me e-file because it couldn't handle a $15 1099-misc I entered it exactly as sent to me. It was the software's fault. I only use it because I can do my children's forms on the same installation and I am familiar with the process. Frustrating to spend half an hour trying to massage the software into working.

TurboTax is convenient/fast/accurate.

we've been using TurboTax for years to do our personal tax return, plus those of our child and my elderly mother. It is straightforward to use, the cross checks help identify any possible missing information or errors and we have everything easily accessible if and when needed. Return preparation is done in the convenience of your home and on your schedule. Convenient/fast/accurate. TurboTax takes the anxiety out of of tax preparation,

Turbo Tax is not as good as prior years.

The 2025 TurboTax is not as good as prior years. Some of the fields have lost the ability to be marked as estimated. Accounts that I imported were duplicated with the same account pulled in from the prior year. I spent time entering data in the prior year's form, not realizing that the imported version was lower in the list. Also, there are too many screens selling additional products! The state email cost is misleading for Michigan. The software says $25 to e-file, but it's actually a lot more with the Michigan charge added.

Keep ads out of purchased product

The software was easy to understand and use for the quick completion of my return. If I am paying for the purchase a product, I should not see advertisements within that product. Attempts to upsell the product, or advertisements for other products by the same company within the software that I purchased are not appreciated.

Promise not kept

Turbo Tax said my return was complete, but the rental property depreciation section was not update as promised by TurboTax on 02/01/2026 as promised. Turbo Tax did not flag my return as incomplete even though it did not update depreciation. Luckily, I reviewed my return and noticed the depreciation amount missing before I filed. Turbo Tax continued to LIE and indicate that the depreciation section would be updated BY 02/01/2026, which it was not. It wasn't updated by almost a month AFTER it was PROMISED by Turbo Tax.

Turbo Tax mis-scanned my W2

So scanning in everything and the process was okay, but I tried us the online version and when my W2 was imported the program switched my state taxable income with stat tax paid, which then initially reported I would get a $100,000+ refund from the state. I couldn't track it down with the online version so I had to revert to the desktop to get it correct in the worksheet. It was an import from a photo scan but what an error and I missed out on getting a free state filing. Made a stressful process even more of hassle and I can only hope it is all accurate.

Desktop better than online

Have been using the product for about 20 years and feel comfortable with it. However I tried to use the online version as suggested, but was not able to resolve the "errors" it was presenting to me (could not find how to get to the forms directly ?). So I had to start over again with the desktop version and successfully filed the return.

IP PIN requirement

Both my Federal and State returns were rejected due to the fact the ID PIN was missing! This was due to the fact that at no point in the process did Turbo tax request the PIN, nor warn it was missing during the review for errors. Given IRS was not forthcoming with the PIN, I finally found I had to log in to their web site to get it. I found the entry point to enter it and resubmitted the return.
