RMD Category

The Section for 1099-Rs is inclusive of pensions, RMD, etc. The system assumed that my pension also had an RMD distribution. So much so, that it automatically included my pension which is generated by Prudential Retirement in the RMD sheet with my actual RMD which was generated by Wells Fargo. While it kept showing it as a error, there was no explanation as to why the system was picking it up as an error. This is a system problem that is a carry over from last year with the RMD distribution category. Maybe the RMD function should be in a different section. Turbo Tax is not intuitive and you really do need some Accounting experience.

Multi-State Gambling Winnings

The multi-state filing process needs to be simplified for gambling winnings. It is common to live in one state and have gambling winnings from another, non-reciprocal state. Currently, you have to do the non-resident state first. That forces you to buy your resident state. Even then, Turbo Tax is not recognizing both states the way it should. My case is Illinois and Indiana. The Schedule CR is not being created for Taxes Paid to Another State. I have to manually make them coordinate. That reduces the integrity of the Turbo Tax product guarantee. The price keeps going up but the product integrity is not keeping pace. Turbo Tax is still my preferred, but there is stiff competition available and cheaper.

turbotax is getting harder to use

difficult to follow the steps if you have multiple areas to include ( such as rental properties and business income). Entering K1 information is very difficult. Entering a K1 sale gives NO GUIDANCE If you download your new year K1 it wipes out the history of the companies that you have entered previous information. The error entries give no guidance. .

Turbo Tax Works

I have been using TurboTax for decades. I have a couple of complaints/suggestions. 1 - Turbo Tax is unaware that the United Nations Joint Staff Pension Fund does not have a federal ID number on its non-standard form. That may be true for other international organizations as well. I do get tired of the error flag popping up. 2 - On the New Mexico return, It would be reassuring to have you ask for the driver's license number EARLIER instead of seeing NONE when reviewing the forms.

TurboTax is average at best.

Even though is a waist of time, given the fact I have reported the same problem in previous years WITHOUT resolution. I have used TurboTax for over 25 years and the biggest problem/disappointment/inconvenience in every year is the product's failure to import my 1099R information from previous years. As the principal taxpayer (first on the form), t imports my wife's information. EVERY year I have had to re-enter my information, even though that information has not changed in over 20 years. This is unacceptable. Intuit's failure to address to correct this deficiency is indicative of corporate apathy regarding customer satisfaction. My wife tells me that I must insane: repeating same constructive criticism year after year and expecting a different outcome.

Turbo Tax was mostly easy

For the most part I found doing my taxes fairly easy as most entries were pretty self-explanatory. However, there were some entries that were not and even when they had a help or explanation button, I still needed further explanation. I found using Chat GPT offered more in-depth explanations which was needed for me to feel confident in the entry.

Fix the process for entering multiple 1099s

I have been using TurboTax since the 90s. We've had our ups and downs, but I have to say I really, really hate the back and forth in the 2025 version when entering 1099s. What an inefficient and painful process that was, going all the way back to the beginning and having the same general questions come up at the end every time I entered another one. My god! Oh, and also having 2 sets of state boxes at the bottom of the 109 for led me to enter them twice and double the taxes. If you're going to have 2 sets of boxes, you better explain why and when to use them.

Desktop better than online.

I had no Schedule C deductions, yet TT desktop forced me to fill out the Schedule C worksheet, which I populated with 73 zeros. PITA. Was forced to use desktop TT because online was a joke. Could not go back and fix choices I made earlier. Once you indicated "I want to enter data a certain way" there was no way to change data entry. You were stuck with your initial choice.

TurboTax missed $1300 of carryforward credit

I've used Turbo Tax for over a decade. I've been very happy with it's accuracy up until this year. This year TurboTax recommended that I go with a standard deduction instead of itemized deduction. Although both the Standard Deduction and Itemized Deductions resulted in the same Federal and State tax liability for 2025, TurboTax made a HUGE miss. If I went with TurboTax's Standard Deduction recommendation, my Residential Energy Tax Credit Carry-forward would have shrunk by over $1300. So glad I didn't go with TurboTax's recommendation and double-checked the details!

Your User Interface is now terrible.

Your user interface has gone from very good to almost unusable. Unless you go back to somethng more like the old user interface, I will not procure Turbotax for next year. Your changes added a huge amount of frustration and days of unnecessary repetitive work. I finally resorted to using forms, I can only hope I got it right. I have used TurboTax for the past 20 years (maybe longer) and in one year, you destroyed the trust I had in you.
