I did not know where to find downloaded information. Quick tips did not help, so I entered the information myself. Also, before when downloading from Merrill, one request got al h 1099s and stock informtion. It was not clear if I had to download multiple times to get 1099DIV and then 1099INT.

I would have rated it a 5, however at the end, since I had 2 1098s, it pulled up one of the worksheets telling me I had to mark one as the most current. I kept looking at the worksheet and i did not have a spot for this. I finally went back into the original section for 1098s and marked Yes for the most current one. If it had directed me back to that section, I would have saved 30 minutes of trying to figure out what it wanted me to do. Also for payment plans, I wanted to go to IRS to do this but system would not allow me to proceed without submitting the request .

I lost 2 hrs or work when the program froze up and quit. Unfortunately I assumed this would auto save, but there was no evidence of any file associated with this on my computer. I had to research how to save a file on this program. There should be a button on the form screen to SAVE the file. Also some of the questions under 1099-R were confusing, regarding Arkansas Teacher Retirement. You need to add Arkansas Teacher Retirement to the list of financial institutions so the information can be pulled and reduce some of those confusing questions.

1. Entering QCD was confusing vs. the previous year (where it was easy) 2. My address is Bloomington (MN), but it appeared to require Minneapolis as the address related to 1099-R (it should accept either one. I never use Minneapolis, since I live in Bloomington 3. I didn't have a 1099-NEC this year, but had one last year. It kept asking for mileage stuff related to the 1099-NEC - until I went back to somehow tell it I had no 1099-NEC - that was ridiculous - it should have asked me if I had a 1099-NEC. I big setback in product quality and ease-of-use vs. the previous years

TurboTax doesn't work when one person in a married couple is filing in a community property state and another member is filing in a non-community property state. It won't let you attach Form 8958 to the non-community property state tax return. I am filing in Washington and had no difficulties. My wife is filing in Oregon due to my taking care of elderly parents. Oregon says that because Washington is a community property state that I need to file an Oregon Non-Resident tax. No problem because Turbotax works for Washington state. Turbotax won't accept the form being added when my wife prepares her taxes in Oregon though. One needs to complete work arounds to get the forms to populate. Not easy. And there is no way to communicate this software bug back to Intuit.

I've used TurboTax for many years. For some reason it was just harder to use this year - incomplete or confusing instructions, unexpected UI behavior, need to enter repetitive information. My favorite was clicking the "Transmit" button and being told that the transmission failed because there was a newer version of TurboTax that I needed to download. Would have been nice to know before I had traversed a dozen or more screens in the "transmit" section. The instructions for downloading the update referenced a menu item that simply didn't exist in my version (Mac). Most of the my issues were usability related. I have no good way to verify things like calculations, but when I sense a lack of attention to detail in the behavior of the software, it makes me less comfortable with what occurs under the covers. (I worked in financial software design/development for 30+ years.)

Quality has gone backwards. Features like RH mouse click to pop up supporting info menu doesn't work on a lot of fields where it used to. Frustrating and it cost me extra time. Also, estimated tax section needs to be improved and show last years numbers like it does in the forms screen.

Turbotax has great accuracy and features. It has wonderful guidance for people who are not familiar with preparing their own tax return. The "Forms" section can be extremely helpful. Many tax documents such as W-2's and 1099's can be imported directly into Turbotax. I have told many people to just go through all of the questions and answer them. Several of my friends are now preparing their own taxes with Turbotax. I've used other tax software but none are as accurate and easy to follow to complete and efile a tax return.

- Was not able to pull into previous taxes from competitor tax assistance software - Help was so-so in help area; pretty much generalized info, has to research myself; I guess it is a way to pay for more service. - Cheaper than the competitor software - When did you remove the free State Filing feature? Argh!! Well at least you filled the forms for me.

You need to make it clearer, how select either guide me, or select sections. You also need an email for techincal issues. Your software would not take my Utah 1099-R box 15 field. Issue was on my form it has UT/XXXX Your software would only take XXXX with no UT/. Your software used to have a link to the IRS forms to get more details. With this one, when I click on Forms, it only shows what I have added.
