TurboTax has become trash that puts customers last

I've been using TurboTax for around 25 years. After this year's experience, I'm looking for another method for next year. Your software has gotten to the point that it is more about the marketing and pigeon holing customers away from what they desire that it was a fight to make the software work. I want stand alone software and sadly TT is no longer that option. I spend money on stand alone. I don't really get that and I have to fight to avoid the constant push to force me down a software track I do not wish to go. This is not about the tax calculation. hoping that's still correct. It's about a company model that no long puts customer wishes as a priority. Market to me once and then abide by my decision! Even the TT AI feedback GUI won't let users select/deselect the review topic or submit negative feedback without extra work. TT has decided for me. I've decided, too.

It's OK, but there are limitations

There are some limitations with Turbo Tax Deluxe, as related to Foreign Tax Credits, interest on state and local bonds and the elimination of the "It's Deductible" tool for valuing non-cash donations. You really should have notified your customers of this change.

Great program for most taxpayers

Overall, the program is logical and easy to follow but in some situations, entering the necessary information is difficult to do. I would suggest that the programmers sit down with CPA's to work through actual representative cases to work out some of the "bugs".

Annoying Scrolling

I always use the guide me step by step feature. The one thing that is annoying is that after answering each individual question I am returned to the menu at the top and must scroll down to where I left off. Why not return me to my latest position to avoid all the scrolling? Very time consuming.

10 ears, not much improvement

This product doesn't seem to be getting any better year over year. Too many fields I have to fill in the EXACT same data as last year, and it could all be found on my previous return, but no - got to enter it all again by hand. Too many fields don't allow copy/paste. I got an error my returns are rejected, and it doesn't seem to want to help me fix it.

Easy to use, accurate, but less informative

I have used Turbo Tax for 15+ years. This year I thought it had been stripped of much of the useful and interesting information. Doing your own taxes should be educational. There seemed to be fewer "need help" or "?" opportunities on many pages. There used to be opportunities to "learn more" in most areas. Some topics needed more detail, and none was provided. More than once I had to go out and consult Chat GPT or goggle. There was an emphasis on "getting the largest refund possible", without explaining that it is your own money, not a gift, and that if you plan your tax year properly, your refund should be minimal. Eliminating access to "it's Deductible" was a another disappointment. Searching on-line for an alternative, did not provide the seamless access of prior years.

Too expensive for what it is

Does not really answer questions. You end up having to go to the internet or the IRS to get more detailed information. It's not worth buying the program for simple taxes with the standard deduction being so large. Money for the program, money to file, advertisements the whole way...spend money to pay money. Thanks.

TurboTax Doesn't Allow Me To Input NRA for SSN

I used TurboTax Desktop to file Married Filing Separately with a non-resident alien spouse who does not have an SSN or ITIN — a situation that is explicitly allowed by the IRS. TurboTax allowed me to complete the return, but then let me e-file knowing the IRS would reject it, only to fail at submission with an SSN mismatch error. At no point did TurboTax clearly warn that e-file is impossible in this scenario or that the software would force me into paper filing after the fact. This resulted in: Wasted time troubleshooting an error that isn't fixable via e-file Confusing and contradictory guidance during the interview process A requirement to paper-file despite paying for software marketed as e-file capable TurboTax should detect this filing scenario early, clearly explain that paper filing will be required, and avoid guiding users down a guaranteed rejection path. This is a common situation for taxpayers with overseas spouses, and the software experience does not handle it well. The tax calculations themselves are fine, but the user experience and lack of upfront disclosure made this far more frustrating than necessary.

Plus and Minus

Much easier this year to find and download my software. Kudos. I needed help once. I had a problem with info transferred from my investment company. The data transferred, but then Turbo kept asking for a piece of info that I didn't have or need--it didn't apply. No matter what I did, Turbo would not let me continue. I deleted the imported data. Then I reached out for help and Yasmine (who was wonderful) helped me get past the gatekeeper. Simple once I saw it. However, the basic problem is there--I can't use the import data feature.

Fidelity Compatibility Concerns

I didn't like the compatibility this filing season. I have my investment accounts through Fidelity and it seemed like things were missing. For instance, the foreign tax and income. If Turbo Tax can read my account to see my transactions, why can't it read the foreign tax I paid and my foreign income? Furthermore, I feel like there should be more companies that are compatible with Turbo Tax. Is the Intuit team doing every thing they can to be in sync with mortgage companies? Banks? Credit Unions? etc.?
