Excellent Tax tool

Fore the most part this is similar to the previous versions. I did have issues with when I saved the tax return I was working via "easy steps' and when I returned it did not take me to where I had stopped. I had to manually find that point to continue.

First time user, mostly good experience

Pretty good overall, I definitely think the overall process could be more user friendly. I did have one problem, when I go to pay for the $25 state e-file fee, your credit card expiration month field drop down is BROKEN and will NOT accept anything after 09. So I had to find another credit card to use, that had an expiration month of something before September. This is an obvious bug that it sees like basic QA testing would have exposed.

TurboTax is Convenient

Turbo Tax is very convenient for us. Even though we have a very simple tax situation, the convenience and ability to save, print, carry info forward from previous years, and submission is the reason that we continue to use this application. 4 stars this year vs 5 because, State would not download. We needed to uninstall TurboTax and reinstall to get the state app to download. Once we figured this out, all worked well.

TurboTax Guides You Through the Process

As a retired former CPA, I found TurboTax 1040 to be quite easy to navigate. One tip is that if you can't find the input screen for something needed to prepare the tax return, try going through the on-screen display of the tax form itself to make the necessary entry. I found this to be the case when I needed to enter the IRS Identity Protection PINs.

Need better guidance & help

felt this year's product is not robust as earlier ones. Had issues downloading my Interest & other income statements though the form was available online. Happended this first time. It never happened before. Some of the menus were little confusing as well and I had to double check and come back to fill up some items

TurboTax experience

I purchased the desktop version and had to log in several times to turbotax before I was given the opportunity to enter my authentication code for the desktop version. Prior to that, when I logged in I was practically forced to choose an online filing method at turbotax to do my taxes even though it would have cost me more because I do not qualify to use the free version of turbotax online. Also, I had difficulty fully exempting my NYS pension on turbotax, but I finally figured it out.

Awesome but could improve the medical expenses

Very good experience. Did not know if in the beginning I would know that taking the standard deduction was the easy way to complete the form. But, I tried to itemize the deduction and found the section to enter "total out of pocket medical expenses" rather complex and redundant resulting us going back and forth to make changes. It should list the items in the beginning to inform taxpayers to separate medical, dental, eye care, transportation, etc. during the entire year.

Uses a different License every time you continue!

In past years, it didn't matter how many times I went into Turbo Tax to continue my returns without having to use another license. This year, every time I went in to continue my returns, I have to use another license! So now, I either have to do my taxes all in one sitting, or I have to buy more than one Turbo Tax program! Rip off!

There is no Box 16a

I completed my returns and tried to submit them however, the software stated that an amount had to be entered in box 16a (Ohio 1099) of which there is not box 16a. Therefore, I called TurboTax support and after 35 minutes on hold, the TurboTax expert advised me to enter the value in box 2a into the field that seemed to think it was needed. Surprisingly, the system accepted the amount I entered from box 2a and was finally able to complete the transmission of my tax refutns.

TurboTax still works just fine.

I've been using TurboTax for years. I'm still fairly happy with it. There is still some clunkiness and inconsistencies with the user interface. On the Income and Deductions section, when you finish a topic, you are taken to the top of the window. And then you have to scroll down to the bottom of the window to move to the next topic. Not a show stopper, but annoying. Some dialogues require you to choose "none of the above" and some don't. Not consistent.
