Good to go

I have used TurboTax for many years and have been very happy with your product. However, the only thing that needs improvement is responding with accurate notifications when pending forms are available. You emailed me many days before Form 5695 was actually available. I identify this as poor customer service. Please do better next year.

TurboTax doesn't compare all entries from the prev

The items to fill in after all the data has been downloaded from my financial institution are confusing. It asked how I paid my state taxes - I entered the quarterly payments that had been withheld - WRONG! Those data had already come in from the downloads. It didn't catch the error but I did. The refund was 5 times last year's, which data the 2025 program had.

I'm fond of Turbo Tax, but found an error in 2025

I discovered an error in 2025 TurboTax Deluxe that incorrectly transferred data from my federal return to my state of Michigan return. Had I not been suspicious and spent over an hour going through forms, line by line, it would have been a $600 error in my state return. I'd be happy to explain it to one of your representatives. In exchange, I would like my payment for this year's software returned to me. Or I would except a coupon for a free download for next year.

2025 Deluxe product sucked for multiple reasons.

I have been a TurboTax user for over 10 years and typically rave and recommend to others. This year I am extremely disappointed in the product and do not plan to purchase for my 2026 returns or continue recommending. Reasons - 1) discontinuance of an incorporated Its Deductable charitable valuation tool. Not disclosed in product advertisements before I purchased and alternative promised tool too late for me to wait for. 2) late availability of 1099 R form, and included form to ask for notification by email when available was nonfunctional as it included another prefilled form number. 3) Buggy charitable contributions entry with disappearing entered contributions if you deleted another charity form after making entries. Disappointing. I plan to change tax software next year.

Tax free transfer from College Fund to Roth IRA

One year ago I spent hours on the phone with the TT representative trying to get a work around for a legally tax-free transfer from a college fund to a Roth IRA. Finally, no solution was presented and I had to delete the entry from my tax form to avoid an improper tax burden. One year later, a box has been added to your form, showing this transfer as an option, but the system still calculates an incorrect tax burden (when by law this transfer is tax free up to a given limit). This is completely unacceptable.

good but ...

The software does its job well, no technical concerns. My only complaint, every year when I use Turbo-tax, I'm prompted several times to file and buy my state return. I live in Tennessee, we don't have a state tax. Your software knows that, so why does it prompt every year to pay for a state return? It makes your company look underhanded.

Turbot Tax Glitches and Ambush

Generally OK, but had to launch it twice to have it migrate info from last year's return. Also asked for some obscure password I had no clue about. Then, it it had problems grasping or acknowledging that we had taken all required RMD distributions and kept suggesting we needed to take out another $8K. Was also very aggravating to find I had to pay $40 to have my refund transferred to my checking account electronically; felt ambushed. Lame.

Unclear instructions

I have used Turbo Tax since 1998 and never had a problem like I had this year. I got to the end of your program and found a $45 charge for "Premium Service" with no explanation anywhere as to what this charge was for. I assumed, incorrectly, that I hit the $45 buy the Audit Defense button. A friend and I tried to unwind this multiple times over 2 days. I finally had to call your customer service number. Only to learn that if one goes from the standard deduction to the itemized deduction option, there is a $45 dollar charge. Why would you not explain that as soon as I hit the "I want to do an itemized deduction" option?? Or explain it at the point of the charge? In my case, $25 for my state return and $45 for the "premium." This cost me many more hours than I needed to spend!

Could be better

I have been a TurboTax user for over 20 years, but this year's experience has been extremely frustrating. The CAPTCHA login process was unnecessarily difficult and poorly designed—I ultimately had to contact support, and even the phone advisor agreed it was a confusing and unpleasant experience. This should not be happening with a product of this caliber. I am also increasingly dissatisfied with the ongoing push toward online-only functionality. I do not want my financial data stored or managed online, and I strongly prefer to keep everything on my local computer. If TurboTax continues to move in this direction and limit offline usability, I will seriously consider switching to another provider such as H&R Block. At this point, it feels like long-time users who prefer a traditional, local software experience are being overlooked. I expect better usability, fewer barriers to access, and more respect for user preferences.

Not as easy to use for 2025

It's Deductible has been removed, so Intuit is forcing you to go to a third party website to manage this information now. Some guidance seems very vague now... requires use of Google to clarify what I should do. More banners/popups than necessary trying to get you to purchase additional services or change from desktop to online version.
