TurboTax gets worst each year.

The interface gets worst every year. You mishandle the foreign tax credt. Lacks necessary features to properly handle state taxes. You mishandle government agency security interest for state tax reporting. You mishandle capital gains on US treasuries for state tax reporting. You hide the detail infromation entry in forms mode. You force many manual form overrides and splitting of imported 1099 data. Your verification code emails are blocked by Xfinity.

Turbo Tax excellent.

Excellent product. I downloaded or imported many of my tax information forms (ex 1099's) into TT and found great deal of ease, comfort and accuracy of the posted information into the return. Made my task much easier and was able to review the product.

Some problems

FTC not included on return cover Summary's total tax. Could not remove another (unneeded) state return. It arrived here because my 100% residency in one state was mishandled by TTax. Poor programming on form listing our pensions. Moving amounts from one of us (error) to the other does not edit properly. Had to delete each entry and re-enter it in the correct. Intuit -TTax is very late getting the program ready for customers. Updating frequently during the tax prep season is poor management and/or limited staffing.

Love TurboTax EXCEPT for......

I have used, loved and recommended TurboTax for over 15 years. I appreciate the questions that guide me through every tax situation. Unfortunately, this year I was prompted to pay my state taxes by credit card (which I did) and then told when I wanted to efile that I could not use a credit card if I made contributions (wildlife fund, etc.) which I always do. Therefore I had to pay AGAIN in order to efile my state along with my federal taxes. VERY IRRITATING! Now the IRS has double the amount I owe and I will have to wait for processing to get he duplicate amount refunded.

Missing decimals for cents on State Form!

No longer is TurboTax letting me select the option to mail in my State Income Tax Form nor is the program providing me with the address where to mail my State Form. I know I can look it up on-line, it was nice to have it on the instructions page. Also, TurboTax is making my State Tax Form income and refund too large by not using a decimal for cents. I imported the W2 so not my mistake with manual entry. The Federal Form is correct, just didn't translate to State Form correctly. Example: 100.00 refund looks like 10000. I'm getting so little back from my state I don't want to pay the E-File cost. VERY FRUSTRATING since I've been using TurboTax programs for years and for multiple family members.....

Some screens do not fit screen & cant be turnedoff

I use Desktop and have for 7 years. I like being able to download and do not use a CPA anymore. My income is all from a single source (Fidelity [Retirement] Investments) is easily downloadable and Turbo Tax handles the rest. I had my first problem this year a missing update prevented e-file transmission of my returns. Could not get the transmission through, get help from Turbo Tax or any other source. I finally completely Force Quit all programs except Tax which WOULD NOT shut down. I finally withdrew power and closed down the computer and restarted. This was the solution. When I turned the computer back on, opened TTax it updated and then transmitted my returns as it should have. TOO MUCH TROUBLE and Very FRUSTRATING for me.

Turbotax was not awesome this year.

What a miserable excuse for an update to your "used to be" dependable software. I had to guess at some entries I made. Why was Canada included? I replied "no" to the question. And a few more questionable places...Maybe you should do your own audits. And please, no need for a hard sell for services. Ken

A bit disappointed this year.

- You eliminated the 'Add Supporting Data' right-click option entirely. That is a HUGE loss. requiring me to maintain separate documentation for numerous entries. - Similarly, the 'Where does this come from` feature is mostly unavailable. - The Wages & Income > Interest and Dividends screen has lines that show total Interest and total Dividends. An additional line that shows total Capital Gains would be helpful. I can select 1099-DIV line, then expand each individual 1099-DIV to see Capital Gains for each provider. But a summary/total of reported Box-2a Capital Gains would be helpful as a quick way to confirm that I have entered data from each account. - I'm retired. I have zero W-2 income. All my taxable income is from 1099-R, either Qualified retirement plans or RMD. I'd like a summary screen that clearly identifies each contribution so I can easily confirm that I entered data from each provider. See: Federal Taxes > Wages & Income > Retirement Plans and SSA > IRA > Update - The dialog for Federal Estimated Taxes asks me to enter "Other income and losses", which includes Interest income, Dividend income, Retirement income, Taxable Social Security benefits, Rental, and Miscellaneous income and losses into a single box! At a minimum, the dialog should provide separate boxes for each of those categories. Alternatively, provide the (deprecated) ability to right-click to 'Add Supporting Detail' to allow me to document the various components. - Even if the Federal Estimated Tax dialog doesn't provide individual entries, the boxes it does provide should at least be pre-populated with data from the just-completed current year return as a baseline for the user.

FIX THE IP PIN

I'VE USED YOUR SOFTWARE WITH NO HICCUPS FOR YEARS BUT NOW THE INABILITY OF YOUR SOFTWARE TO BE COMPATIBLE WITH THE IRS "IP PIN" IS A FAILURE ON YOUR PART OF EPIC PROPORTIONS!! YOU MAY HAVE LOST A 20 PLUS YEAR CUSTOMER, NO THANKS FOR THE INCONVENIENCE...

New User Interface is Entirely Unsatisfactory

Your new user interface is totally unacceptable. I will never use Turbotax again unless you go back to the old user interface. You caused me about an additional 10 days to get the data manually into the forms with some belief that the data was somewhat accurate. I'm still not 100% sure. You turned an exceptionally good product into something that is terrible at best. I don't understand why you did such a stupid thing.
