TURBO TAX PUT THE LOCAL & STATE PAID INCOME TAXES

I did on the other page, prior to this page. There are some flaws, with the program, but you have to be knowledgeable user to find them. as to putting the paid State & Local income taxes in the wrong areas, like under the 1099-R in the Tax Payment Worksheet. and different areas from what you W-2 state for State and Local income taxes, at least for PA State, and duplicating the amount that was paid in, that was not operator error, that is what the program did. I don't know about your other states, if their W-2 matched up with your programming, but apparently it sure didn't this year.

Programming and Testing Quality is getting POOR

The application is getting worse every year. This year it closed up opening several times. Also, my touch screen could not be used on several - but not all - screens. Clearly a programming issue. And a testing issue. As for tax calculations, I hope it is right. But why would you say I planned very well when I applied all of my refund to estimated taxes? I didn't plan all that well, so get over it. Also, filling in this survey, the "suggested review topics" keeps bouncing all over the place and trips up what I'm typing.

TurboTax is accurate.

I have been using TurboTax for over 25 years. I trust the accuracy of the returns. This year I had a problem with downloading the financial institutions tax documents. It created a little anxiety, but thankfully everything downloaded the following day when I made the attempt. I do not know what the problem was, I was just thankful it downloaded.

Frustrating to use.

TurboTax has been getting worse every year. The prompts can be unhelpful at times. Things that seem like they should autofill don't, and there is no hint of where to find the information it's asking for. The F1 help is useless. I can't find a way to search for a keyword in the forms to help me find something that I need to change. Some of the questions in the state form (IL) also seem like they should have autofilled from the Federal form. Yet, I was stuck trying to find the info myself. Oftentimes, the "Learn More" link is just a rephrasing of the prompt that I'm looking for help on, which in turn is just a rephrasing of the prompt on the tax form. I'm ready to move to different tax prep software. I've been waiting years for TurboTax to be excellent program I used in the beginning, but it looks like "barely acceptable" is the new quality standard.

Much less user friendly than years past

Purchased than realized desktop version would not work on my windows 10 computer. Tried the online version and after several hours trying to fix one issue, gave up and purchased a new computer. Still had issues with the desktop software, however, there was more help on line to find workarounds - built in help did not follow current software online nor desktop version. My issues, specifically, backdoor Roth IRA, 529 distribution (was taxing me when it shouldn't) and after finally getting my backdoor roth working in federal, wouldn't transfer to state properly. Guessing they are relying on AI to do most of the work now and not using humans to actually verify it all works. Will do more research before purchasing next year for sure!

Easy Taxes with TurboTax

I have used TurboTax for several years. We have a simple tax situation and it has been easy to use. I find the walk through process easy to understand. I like the explanations that are offered while filling out the forms. I will keep using TurboTax as I am familiar with it and it is easy to use.

Getting less impressive every year ...

TurboTax seems to be less impressive with each year's release. It used to treat my Federal and NY State returns as separate returns, transferring over the appropriate info from fed to state, but then gave a fairly extensive interview for NY for the differences. This year it seemed to do them simultaneously (as reflected in the running totals displayed for both Federal & NY State that changed when entering info). But it didn't do a good job this time of asking me NY-specific questions. Then, when I go to Review before filing, it identified errors due to missing info on forms it never even asked me about (i.e., IT-2105.9 line 16). Where the heck did that come from? It didn't even provide a link to the worksheet, I had to hunt for it under the Forms menu. I don't know, Intuit, you seem to be getting lazier with each release ... maybe you're trying to force people off the desktop versions onto the online versions ...

TurboTax Guides You Through the Process

As a retired former CPA, I found TurboTax 1040 to be quite easy to navigate. One tip is that if you can't find the input screen for something needed to prepare the tax return, try going through the on-screen display of the tax form itself to make the necessary entry. I found this to be the case when I needed to enter the IRS Identity Protection PINs.

TurboTax is good - a Reliable Program

The new format for entry with "squares" for the different accounts to pick a square, then import or hand ennter is very non-user friendly. The sequence is select an account, select import or hand enter, then present the needed fields. It kept switching between the entry methods without m asking it to switch.

User Interface no good!

1. This year come across strange thing that the edit and delete icons did not show up sometimes. This happened to both Unemployment 1099-G and Retirement 1099-R interface. You need to exit and reload, but not always get back these two icons! 2. After complete entering 1099-INT, 10-99-DIV, 1099-B data, the interface always go back to the beginning of the first 1099 form. Why cannot go back where it come from. This apply to doing review.
