Two Thumbs Down

TurboTax intentionally obfuscates the process, upcharges and upsells and every possible step, and forces its way into the tax paying process of millions of Americans every year unnecessarily. Tell your congress person loudly and often that the American consumer is being taken advantage of.

Fix Turbo Tax

The biggest problem I had this year with Turbo Tax was handling the tip income that was not broken out on the new 1099NEC form. Trying to generate a Schedule 1A was problematic. The 2 Questions asked were misleading especially number 2. It appeared that those were disqualifying categories. Needs to be worked on. th

Glitch in Oregon return wasn't fixed for weeks

When I tried to file my taxes, there was a glitch that prevented me. I got an error message that looked like this: "Information Worksheet: Form 1099-Q is still being worked on. Please return after it has been updated.. Taxpayer's First Name: ....." I went on the Intuit community forum and discovered that this was a common problem for Oregon users filing a 1099-Q form to take a distribution from a 529 plan. Some of the users in the forum had been complaining to TT for weeks, only to be gaslit and told that it was a problem with an Oregon form, or they were promised that a fix was just around the corner. I had to wait over a week for the bug to be fixed, but not nearly as long as others who started their taxes much earlier. I have been using Turbo Tax for years and I have occasionally run into little bugs like this, but this was the first time I was completely prevented from fixing it on my own and filing my taxes.

TurboTax is awesome!

TurboTax was easy to follow and provided excellent information/answers to questions that I had during the process. I called for help with a specific question about the formatting of a special form. I spoke with Cathy on the helpline; she was outstanding leading me to the correctly formatted page. Thanks to the TurboTax Team I am confident that my tax E-file is correct.

Declining software quality

This year my experience is between bad and horrible. I've encountered 3 separate bugs in the software. One was admitted by Intuit, but I had to spend 2.5 hours on the phone with level 1 agent, before he conceded to pass me through to level 2, who were able to engage serious conversation, admit and file a bug report. Yes, it was fixed in 3 days. The second one I've found a workaround myself. The third caused the PC to crash twice! around the same place, few screens apart. I had no intent to work as a free beta tester for Intuit. The way you enter certain fields in K-1 could be (VERY MUCH) improved. I'd rather have direct instructions in the software than searching through the filing instructions and community forums.

TT Deluxe not ready til March!

I was disappointed while entering data for TT to suddenly tell me "that form isn't available yet". I had to sign up to be notified via email when that update was ready. Nearly a month later, I STILL had not received notification! (yes I checked my spam folder) I took a chance and reopened TT, let it update and it seems like everything was there. Makes me wonder when TT was going to let me know.

just OK

Not enough help without discussing with an agent. I liked the old TurboTax, where the help documents were good; instead, they are always trying to steer you to an agent or talk to someone at TurboTax. I have been using this product for over 30 years.

Just mediocre

Removing it's deductible is a huge failure. Very frustrating and a decision that should cost someone a job or at least a bonus. The UI is mixed otherwise. At times it seems advanced but then you'll do the same thing in another spot and the UI is terrible.

Good tax prep s/w but up-sells are annoying.

Have been a Turbo Tax user for twenty-five years. Overall, it's a good product. I don't like the forced s/w updates every time I start the s/w...it used to provide options to update or not...causes me multiple instances of wasted time. Also, the constant attempt to up-sell additional services is offensive and annoying. When I buy s/w to perform a service, that's what I want...just do it. Don't try to keep selling me "more stuff".

Shame on You turbo tax

Turbo Tax is no longer awesome !

I have used TurboTax for years and this is the first year I have been disappointed. Doing away with Its Deductible and one free state e-file it a game changer for me. I lost so much data when when you wiped out It's Deductible. WHY, so you could make more money? You have got to do better! I will be looking for a different program for next year unless you make some changes. Shame on you for letting your long time customers down.
