Turbo Tax's still the best way to do taxes for now

Having been a Turbo Tax customer since it first came out with the disks, I'm somewhat disappointed that Its Deductible has been eliminated. The guided questions in this edition seem to not be as clear and concise as prior years. I'll still use the Turbo Tax but I hope some of the more user-friendly features return.

For Over 40 years, the Best Tax Tool Available

Been using TurboTax for decades, literally - since 1984 It continues to be accurate, with great guidance through the steps. It has covered my taxes through business ownership, straight employment, contracted consulting and now retirement (and Pickleball Coaching earnings). It guides you through everything you could ever need, and online help, including live-person assistance is available. Easily imports my data from last year, and reminds me of past income and deductions so I do not miss a thing. TurboTax is the best!

Best I've found

Thanks for your good employee's like Anila, McKala,, Ttyreon and other's who all helped me thru multiple rejections of my forms.. Biggest problem was Form 1116, foreign tax. That was your problem not mine. One simple input improvement you could make. If you you have multiple income forms like 1099's , don't make me continually have to wade thru to type it myself via unnecessary pages. At the start of the list of income subjects just put a box for each one to denote how you want to input it.

TURBOTAX SUCKS EVERY YEAR!!!

Print Preview doesn't allow you to print before filing, No Print instructions other than Talking to CS for 4 hours, then told to Create a PDF then Print from there! Get your Act together! Where is all the talent to correct these issues? Last previous years, TT lost all my inputted info. This year I was incorrectly told you can you use your downloaded Version and the website at the same time if problems occured!

Glitch:Energy Efficient Commercial Bldg Form 7205

TT has a glitch with Business deductions. It automatically enters a 0 for anything I don't need including Energy Efficient Commercial Bldg & then won't e-file, because there's a 0 on that line. It was difficult to determine how to fix this. I read several comments online.

Minor complaint

I've used TT for over 20 years, possibly more. One thing I found this year that wasn't as good as usual was that if I exited the program in the midst of entering information, when I re-opened it, I wasn't at the place I had left off. Occasionally had to go through questions I had already asnwered to get to the right place. I don't remember this ever happening in the past.

should be notified if update needed at the start

I appreciate the software but at times there is a problem like e-filing without an update that was unknown throughout till the end. example I can't send this without making up a nickname and everyone I make up it's taken! Why should you have to have a nickname in order for you to get feedback???????

Will be back next year.

Desktop copy loaded without any difficulty. The vast majority of forms and required inputs went smoothly. There were some changes in the inputs required for claiming a RMD which required some extra time compared to last year. If one is not paying attention, a lot of time can be wasted trying to figure out what went wrong.

Turbotax failed to import RMD information properly

The import process didn't work correctly in populating the RMD from one of our brokerage accounts requiring our key entry of information across multiple funds for the both of us. The way we discovered ti error was that the federal tax owed amount was far beyond reasonable.

State part for Virginia is horrible.

Most of the Federal part is pretty good. The State part, at least for Virginia, is horrible. In one place near "filing" I was caught in a loop. It said I was required to mail in my return but kept giving me instructions for e-filing. The printing part is horrible. It printed all my documents with about 1/3 running off the page so the information didn't show. It changed my printer's properties and I haven't completely got my normal settings back yet. I had to make pdf files in order to print the documents. The pdf filenames didn't say when it was a state file. The subdirectory for the pdf files did not update eventhough I corrected it numerous times. I never found a place to input the federal or state estimated payment amount that I wanted. Navigating through the printing and filing parts of federal and state was nearly impossible. Most of these problems started after I started working on my state return. I have used the PC version of TurboTax ($80) for many years and have never had any of the problems listed above. I sure hope you can fix things up better for next year.
