Watch out for the identity protection pin section!

Generally, it is great and I like the features of the program for filing for myself and my wife each year. This year I had a problem when I missed the check box on one of the last few screens dealing with having an identity protection pin. I did not catch this and subsequently had my return rejected twice until I went back through each of the final pages and found the error. They also change this pin each year, which I forgot about. I was able to fix the problem and my return was accepted. HOWEVER - a word of warning. I believe the two rejections may have caused my return to be delayed pending a letter from the identity validation section which required a phone call (with all the usual problems getting through). The online quick ID validation site would not work for some reason with my letter. Once connected a series of questions, which was fine - however then they advised it would be another 9 weeks (up to) to get our refund. What a headache from this mistake. (The IRS person I spoke to said she also made this error on her return!!) Perhaps TT can format the ID protection pin entry in such a way that it is towards the final page or make it harder to miss. Just a suggestion, thanks for the great product.

E-file didn't work until I closed and restarted

I have been using TurboTax for over 25 years....I feel the "user friendliness" has declined somewhat over the last several years.. I ran into a problem with e-filing whereby it said "Your Transmission Didn't Go Through"....the instructions that followed were vague...told me to go online select "check for updates"....I signed into Intuit online and could not find such. I called a friend who also uses Turbotax and she said to close the desktop software and restart it. I did so and then Turbotax came up with pop-up to check for updates. (It had not done so when I first started Turbotax and subsequently spent hours inputting my data.) The updates downloaded and the e-file step finally worked.

obscure or missing

make the best way to file (standard deduction vs itemizing) more obvious. when I clicked to find the most deductions, you didn't even offer that I would pay only 1/3 of the taxes the standaard deduct would allow. Why? I had already put in all of my deductions. And you automatically chose automatic deduction ...I had a hard time finding the slide to change to itemizing. too obscure. Also, some of the explanations (highlighted ) revealed no information. What? Why?!

Flaw in software, double check your work

Software had me duplicate three 1099 INT entries. Fortunately I reviewed everything after its "error" checking stated everything looked good. I found the duplicates and deleted them. This could have cost me $300. Not happy with your software. May go back to TaxAct

TurboTax Leads the Way

TurboTax always guides me through the process and checks for mistakes during review. It facilitates a process that is complicated and burdensome at best. We shouldn't have such a convoluted system of taxation, but this is a handy tool for making it to the finish line with the least amount of stress.

Unable to edit 1099-R entries

I have TT Deluxe Desktop on Windows 11. This year, there was no icon to click on to edit my 1099-Rs. I was able to find a workaround by moving the cursor slowly to the right and I would find a very faint vertical rectangle I could hit to edit (no labeling at all). Next to it was a very faint delete vertical rectangle (no labeling at all). Very poor user interface.

First bad experience

The new version transfered a lot of information wrong making it a long frustrating experience. I will probably no longer use Turbo Tax because of it. Been using Turbo Tax since I came out, but this year was horrible. It also felt like they were trying to uncharge you will the various options. Overall very disappointed.

Foreign Taxes

Inputting multiple foreign taxes was not good. Read the additional information and did as instructed starting with the highest and selecting done. But when I then went back to attempt to add a second entry manually, it would not allow it. The second entry was not automatically inserted via TurboTax.

Turbo Tax is really going DOWNHILL

Double counted my interest income. Through the normal query process I had to enter 3 1099-INT forms manually because the financial institutions (USAA, Cit Bank, and SoFi Bank) were not supported by auto importing. After finishing my taxes and when doing the final check for errors, Turbo tax asked me to confirm Box 1 figures for each of those 1099-INT forms. I assumed this was because I had to manually enter them (No Auto Import). When I entered the box 1 figures Turbo Tax doubled the interest (once for the original entry and then again for this final check). Some disconnect occurred in the programing causing this error. After I ran the program through this portion not once, twice or three time but on the 4th time for whatever reason the program did NOT ask to reenter the box 1 figures and I was able to escape this frustrating loop.

Confirmed: TurboTax is incompetent.

Awful. I pay for TurboTax to be correct. Having to file an ammended return (along with $600) because TurboTax can't keep up with tax law (Georgia SALT limitation) is unforgivable. I will have zero confidence in my returns going forward, so I probably need to look for new tax software.
