This is a great Pergola. It was delivered with two boards that were day. Called customer service. Very nice helpful staff. Two days later I received two replacements. Spent one day treating all the wood with a wood present stain. Then one day to assemble. Used the BILT app for instructions. Went together like a dream. Great product. Very pleased.

We hit a few snags in assembly but it's pretty obvious when the instructions are missing a step (for example, when the diagonal braces need to be screwed in using a drill, which isn't listed as a step). The final product is gorgeous and looks much more expensive than it was.

Took wife and I around 9 hours to complete. Pay attention to the pilot holes for the corbels on the posts. Fairly smooth until one already split corbel came apart and had to be glued and finish nailed back together. The 14 top purlins were warped and don't fit together well. Had to redrill a lot of pilot holes as they didn't line up. Otherwise it looks good and much sturdier than our former metal unit.

I’ll admit a little slow becoming a pergola advocate. With the Texas sun, I do want a little more protection when cooking outside than these things natively offer. This 12x20 monster replaces a pair of 10x13 canopies. The wind has blown here more this year than in the past 60 years. My cheap canopies didn’t stand a chance. The vibration from the wind loosened half the screws and both simply collapsed. And they acted like sails before collapsing. The family joke was me getting everyone to help move them back into place at family gatherings. This baby is over 700 lbs and rated for 100 mph winds. I cannot imagine it moving for some wimpy 40 mph breeze. I need to conjure up some Sun/rain protection, but I am beyond thrilled with it. I ordered the installation when I purchased the pergola. A precise date/time was set for the installation from emails they were coming from Back Yard Discovery. However, when the installers arrived without the pergola at the appointed hour, I realized there was a disconnect somewhere. The pergola magically arrived Friday before the 4th of July weekend. I called the installers back and darned if they didn’t come Saturday morning to install this thing. They just left. Other than signing their paperwork, I actually haven’t goner over it closely yet. But the installers were punctual, polite, and very, very efficient. This is the summer for backyard projects that I have anticipated for a long time. This pergola is key to housing my entire outside cooking world and to have it dine in time for the 4th of July makes me very happy. Thanks to everyone involved!

Our home is always changing--inside & out; & every change creates a new "pop":. This time we added a room!! It all started after switching out the last section of old board decking to brick, matching the rest of the existing bricked deck--improving both the look & function of our yard. But, looking out at the expanse of this all brick deck, even with colorful furniture & our usual riot of plants, something was missing. Somehow, we needed to frame that section, a place where we entertain and also shelter a lot of plants. (I'm a gardener). It's Florida; summer sun is merciless on human skin and, more importantly, all of our plants shriveling in our summer heat; they can't hop up and escape into the AC. What we needed was a pretty shelter from direct sun; we needed a pergola! And this baby is a champ. Ordering was easy, the perfect size for our spot, delivery on time; my husband Bill added 2 applications of weather coating, we hired the brick guys to assemble it (we are old :-)). And now we have more than a pergola; it is a ROOM-- partly nestled under our old magnolia, decorated by our happy shaded plants, and furnished by our colorful furniture (I am a painter), the pergola frames it all and creates the perfect space whose form is lovely and which functions to give us what we needed: a solid, sturdy, shade-providing structure. We already have subprojects planned: our copper pelican perches on the top corner; to add even more shade, we are installing lattice panels over the widely spaced roof slats, and we are adding electric outlets for some good old Florida fans, also hanging solar lights to line the top structure. Very nice product for the money. We received this a couple of months ago, and took our time sorting and staining Redwood. We only had two boards that were warped severely, but they were replaced within two days. Excellent service from the company on any parts or replacement boards that you need!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We purchased this pergola for my mother-in-law's ADU. We hired our two contractors to assemble it and it only took 4 hours. They spent some additional time installing a cover and staining it. It looks great, provides a good amount of shade, and keeps the furniture dry. For a cover, I purchased 8mm pearlescent Polycarbonate panels and accessories. I stenciled maples leaves on top using 3 colors of rustoleum--for decoration and to provide a bit more shade. We love the results.

The pergola itself is fine. It has some weird gaps in the joinery as you might expect from something manufactured in China. But both the customer support team and the assembly folks were great. Very responsive, very friendly, very quick to resolve issues. I would buy from them again just because the customer service was exceptional

I've had the pergola built for about 2 months now and absolutely love it. Its sturdy and heavy but also easy-ish to put together. Realistically you should have at least two people building one pergola. I would budget about 5 hours with two people to put it together completely. Overall great pergola, very happy with the purchase!

Kit is well thought out. The wood is not so good. I have had some punkie spots in the legs and there is signs of cracking now starting to show up after one winter season here in Michigan. Over all its ok but I don't know how long it will last. To bad the wood is not from North America.
