Good, but has some gremlins

Generally easy, but there are some pages where information required is not explained well... sometimes no explanation at all. Usually solved with a bit of research, but occasionally I just have to "wing it". The only material problem I've had with the 2025 software is the payment page for buying state eFile. At the "Payment" page, the expiration date field only shows months 01 through 09. Considering my primary payment card expires in October (and most of my other cards are also in the last 3 months of the year) this is a major annoyance. This was the same for both "Business" and "Home & Business".

Turbo Tax is a good product & with Audit Defense

I have been using Turbo Tax for many years. I like the product. I like how it guides you and has explanations and or a tab to get more info on an entry item. It is cumbersome when using the complete guide me through each section and a little frustrating for all the items that are always "no" or "0" for all these years. The tax credit for fuels for farm use - Schedule F does not come up automatically - so I have to search for it and it is in the business section - should come up with the farm - schedule F. At the end - the direct deposit info should prefill from last years return and definitely prefill from entering it one time

Turbotax is really good, cost is high

Easy to use program, I prefer to keep my data on my computer and I'm glad I have that choice, the price is a bit on the high end at $95.00 other then that rock solid product as always for last 10years I've been using it...oh wow that is about $950.00 I should get a large discount for repeat user/buyer of this product.

Not Easy to Get Running as in past years

Was needlessly asking for a password I did not understand. Would not transfer data from the previous year. Steered me to online tax filing when I had paid to download the application. Took 20-30 minutes to find the download page. Getting started was stressful, buggy, and not easy.

Poor user experience for 2025

Intuit forced me to sign in multiple times - every time I opened TurboTax on my computer, even though it was already downloaded. In addition, TurboTax doesn't correctly calculate the max employer contribution to a sole-proprietor 401K that also has a defined benefit pension plan. There are specific rules for that, and you should easily be able to program those into the software - I've been waiting years for this.

Unfriendly for foreign source pensions

I receive pensions from the UK government and a former employer in the UK. I have entered correct contact addresses for these payors. They do not have EIN numbers. I entered 99-999999 as suggested by Chat GPT. These show up as errors in the final review and prevent on line filing. The system is not friendly with regard to income from these sources. Can you add an input form for foreign sourced income and pensions please?

First year I've had issues

I have used Turbotax Home and Business for many years. This year was the first year that I would encounter an error when I go to pay for the State. It would not let me proceed. Upon numerous conversations with Turbotax and trying some things on my end, it still would not let me put in my card information to charge the state e file, therefore I had to mail them in, something I haven't had to do in many years. Please fix whatever this issue is, because I won't be using Turbotax again unless it's figured out.

Not So Great This Year

The software locked up twice and one time I had to start over from the beginning. Also, I needed to separate in-state and out of state income, which I've done in prior years. This out of state income that wasn't to be included was only about $4k and Turbo Tax changed from me getting a refund from the state to owing the state almost $10k. If anything, this change should have netted me a higher state refund, not cause me to owe more. No matter what changes I made the file wouldn't go back to the previous version and I had to start over from scratch again. I've used Turbo Tax for years and it's always been fairly painless, but needless to say, the process was very frustrating this year.

bugs

The were a couple of bugs in the program that bothered me. First of all, I rent a farm, but that is not my mail buisness. I only had on 1099-MISC, but it asked me to fill one out 3 different times. It also wanted the farm info in my Schedule C, which was fine, but it conflicted with some of the other stuff pertaining to my primary buisness. i had to create a second Schedule C. Also, I had to pay in, and it is the 15th so my check was due in the Post Office today. But, by the time I got everything done, they were closed. So, for the first time, I chose to e-file so they would get my "check" in time. I normally will take everything to the post office and send it certified mail. That way I have a receipt showing the date I dropped it off. So, since I e-filed this time with the auto-debit, I was going to print out the screen showing the date and time I sent it. But, when I went to try to print it, the program's screen switched and said it may take up o 48 hours before the IRS processes. That is fine as long as there is a record of me sending it on time. And, of the time I am typing this (4-15 at 10::05 p.m.) I still havn't found how to get back to the original data screen I was wanting to print out.

Happy user for more than 20 years

Over all quite easy. Some places where there is a risk of double entry of information (car info for example) Happy user for more than 20 years. Amazing to see how insanely complex filing can be. Would be cool if W2 info could be available with little effort. The mailed ones are easily missed
