Turbotax is more difficult to use every year...... I suspect this is intentional giving Intuit the opportunity to SELL advice to end users. In fact, Turbotax has become a giant sales promotion from opening to closing. I'm also highly suspicious of the online version and the "offer" of a free state Efile. The software axiom always holds true..... if your not paying for a service, you're (your information) become part of the service.

All went well, as usual, except for the estimated tax section, as usual. My only problem is that I like to adjust my payments per quarter, some all in the first quarter, some in all quarters, and some with more in last quarter. In the state estimated section, this is fairly easy since I can go to forms and adjust them in forms. However, I cannot do that in the Federal Estimated Tax section. I have to print out the form and use white out to change the amount that I am paying. If the Federal was as easy as the state estimated tax section, that would be fantastic! My only other problem is with QBI, qualified business income. It can go from 20% to 0%, but it is very hard to trace why, and trying to find a place to import or type in UBIA (Unadjusted Basis Immediately After Acquisition). I could not find how to do this and my QBI was $0.00 instead of an amount closer to 5% or 10% of the maximum QBI. Have more screens and information about QBI deductions and input of UBIA.

Not good. No one told me I could never again download turbotax desktop unless I used Google Chrome—a ver insecure platform that comes with many ways fro all sorts of nonsense companies to get your data. I sent a few hours on the phone trying to download my desktop version, which I have been using since 2013. I use MAC and am up to date, I even bought a new mac this year so I could continue to do taxes with you. But when it came finally to filing, I was not permitted to get the supposedly free audit help because I do not use Keychain, and did not have a keychain code with which to add this option. Only by checking NO would the request get out of the way so I could file.

User friendly than the last yr version. Easy to navigate to a specific topic and then return to the last place where you left to continue Turbo Tax. Well organized and cohesive for easy reference and review. And the reports are great for future reference and continuous improvements.

I had over 120 error messages in the final error check asking me "is this a digital investment". After going through basically all but a couple, I was asked "Do you have any digital investments?". That really annoyed me !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (Was aiming for 120 exclamation points, 1 for each error message) After taking considerable time saying "NO" so many times and thinking why I can't just say GLOBALLY NO, you ask me this question. "Do you have any digital investments?" Why didn't you ask me before I said "No" so many times. Be SMARTER with assessing error messages and allow us to get done more quicky. AI IS HERE. You should be smarter assessing error messages and getting through them.

Twice locked out of program asking for passwords that Turbotax created w/o my approval when saving file to another name. Made me restart entries once. Program froze up several times requiring computer reboots. Not easy to go to worksheets to input data as in past. A good list of worksheets was not readily available. Had trouble with downloading state version.

First - I am a long time user of Turbotax and consider myself to be reasonably competent with the software. There were changes this year that made it more difficult to find specific topics - EX: how to enter interest on an IRS refund. Also, the help feature is NOT helpful at all. The AI assistant is limited on what it can answer and getting to a human is next to impossible. The Community interface is good but it was difficult to find where to post a question when an answer wasn't already available.

First time in 20 years I had an issue with the accuracy of the information displayed using the installed software. The software begins by assuming you will use the standard deduction as you enter each deduction. When I got to the summary screen it stated that based on my input the standard deduction would get me the best return. Hitting the continue button produced a new summary screen that stated my return would be from using my itemized deductions. This created a lot of confusion and took several cycles going back and forth before the summary screens agreed and the tally in the upper left of every screen agreed with the summary screens. Also when entering energy credit, this total is not shown as a tax credit item on the summary screen but is included in the sum total number. It is confusing to see a total that does not equate to the sum of the items listed in the summary.

I found it difficult to download information from a common Broker. I had to hand type my information into Turbo Tax, as each time I downloaded one for me, it would delete what was downloaded for my wife and vice-versa. Had to review it closely because it left items out.

I CAN'T E-FILE. SINCE I AM PAYING TAXES AND DO NOT HAVE A RETURN COMING, I NEED TO PAY WITH A CREDIT CARD. TURBO TAX DESKTOP DOES NOT TAKE ME TO A PAGE WHERE I CAN PAY BY CC. INSTEAD IN CIRCLES ME BACK TO THE FILE HOME PAGE. IF IT CAN'T DO THIS MAIN TASK, THE SOFTWARE IS WORTHLESS.
