Great Coffee Maker- Grinder, but there are rules..

I read a lot of negative reviews about this machine. I was able to purchase it at a reasonable price, so I did. There is a sequence that must be followed in order for this coffee maker- grinder to work correctly. If you don't follow these steps, you will get an error message. 1. Fill the hopper with coffee beans. 2. Add the amount of water you want per the number of cups. The carafe is awkward for this so I use a liquid measuring cup. 3. Turn the machine on. 4. With the carafe removed open and close the coffee filter holder, using the button on the left-hand side of the machine. 5. Then place the carafe into the machine being sure that it sets flatly and securely on the heating burner. 6. Select the strength, of the coffee you want to brew. 7. Twist the knob to the correct number of cups of coffee you added water for. 8. Press the brew button.

Review-Cuisinart Burr Grind & Brew 12c Coffeemaker

I had the previous model for many years and when it finally gave up the ghost (leaking for some reason when it made coffee), I wanted the same coffee machine. Of course it had been "updated" and we have had a problem getting the carafe seated correctly under the filter basket so that it doesn't miss the hole in the lid of the carafe and leak when coffee is brewing. Seems the hot plate was made larger but there is ring that the carafe needs to be positioned in. This is very far back on the hot plate and a bit difficult to get the carafe set into correctly. Our guests who are not familiar with this requirement have had their coffee spill out and all over the counter, down the cabinets and onto the floor, often wasting at least 1/2 pot of brewed coffee.

Great value, great taste

After 10 years of flawless service, my old grind and brew suddenly stopped working just as I returned from vacation! I read reviews that praised burr grinders, and when I saw that Cuisinart had a 12 cup model, I was all about it. My first cup of coffee from this machine convinced me I made the right decision…it was delicious! This coffee maker is a delight and I look forward to many years of amazing coffee.

I have used Cuisinart coffeemakers for many years. I recently updated to this grind and brew. They have changed the carafe lip and it pours so much better than earlier versions. I also like not having to add beans every time I want coffee, but I am not sure if I am using more beans now than I did with a previous coffeemaker. It is a nice coffeemaker and I recommend it.

Not as good as previous models.

I’ve had Cuisinart Grind and Brew coffee makers for 25 years. Our last one recently died and they don’t make it anymore. I got the closest one and we were disappointed from day one. It leaked constantly and we had to return it. Trying another one without the grinder since I don’t trust it won’t happen again. Plus the design changed and it is not as attractive as the Burr grinder on top.

Who needs Starbucks

This was a replacement for a similar model that I had for over ten years that started leaking for some reason. I love being able to set up my morning coffee with fresh ground beans and have it waiting for me when I get up. This model is even easier to keep clean also, as a coffee snob, I highly recommend it

Difficult to pour water into the coffee maker.

We have had a Burr Grind & Brew 12-cup Coffee maker for several years. When the first one died we got another. This is our third. We really liked the 2 previous ones in spite of the difficulties with pouring from the insulated curafe. The new glass curafe is easier to pour from but it is difficult to get the water into the reservoir. The water has to be poured from the curafe over the open lid to the reservoir. This is difficult. The water cannot be poured from the side because of the overflow hole. the water splashes out of the hole. If there was a guard over the hole it would be possible to pour from the side greatly improving the use of the machine. I do like the fact that the grinder does not have to be opened for cleaning. In general it works very well. Cuisinart could make an insert to divert the water away from the overflow hole and send it to all customers who have bought this coffee maker.

Worked for about 11 months

The grinder stopped working after about 11 months. I think steam got into the grinder area and caused it to get gunked up. I removed all of the gunked-up debris using a paper towel and the brush provided. I tried to test it at least 6 times, with a small amount of whole beans. It would attempt to grind the beans, grind a very small amount and then stop.

Too many grounds in the Pot

This is my 3rd or 4th grind and brew. The design has completely changed in the new one. You don’t have to clean the parts anymore which could go in the dishwasher, so it was no problem. It never left grounds in the pot. The new one does leave grounds in the pot and scattered in the machine. It does not hold as many beans in the hopper, so you have to fill it often. The carafe retains water in the top rim. I loved my former ones!!! I’m sorry the design has been changed.

The carafe spout spoils the unit's performance.

The grinder and brewer works wonderfully. The machine is wonderfully picky about having water in its tank and a very clean filter and basket. The coffee produced is barista level stuff. It's also pretty easy to program. My rating is a 4 not a 5 because of the carafe spout. my wife and I can't pour a cup of coffee, or pour water into the reservoir without dripping water or coffee onto the counter, no matter how fast we pour or how steep the angle we hold the carafe! It's a daily irritation from an otherwise excellent appliance.
