Water Reservoir

I absolutely love the convenience of grinding and brewing in the same appliance, and being able to select the cup size of the brew. The only reason for 4 stars is for the fact that you cannot fill the reservoir for multiple brews. You can only fill it with the amount you intend to brew at that instance. Each morning, you have to add water.

Review-Cuisinart Burr Grind & Brew 12c Coffeemaker

I had the previous model for many years and when it finally gave up the ghost (leaking for some reason when it made coffee), I wanted the same coffee machine. Of course it had been "updated" and we have had a problem getting the carafe seated correctly under the filter basket so that it doesn't miss the hole in the lid of the carafe and leak when coffee is brewing. Seems the hot plate was made larger but there is ring that the carafe needs to be positioned in. This is very far back on the hot plate and a bit difficult to get the carafe set into correctly. Our guests who are not familiar with this requirement have had their coffee spill out and all over the counter, down the cabinets and onto the floor, often wasting at least 1/2 pot of brewed coffee.

Coffee is good but coffeemaker is only fair.

The coffeemaker works well in most respects, but there are some shortcomings. One is the small size of the hopper, which only holds about half a cup of beans and must be refilled often. The other is that the grounds overflow the paper filter and must be cleaned out after every brew. And finally, the hot plate does not keep the coffee really hot.

Grind is the way to go…

Received this coffee pot as a gift. I had not clue what a difference a fresh grind would make. I love that it makes 12 cups but can easily change the brew amount by a turn if a knob and the beans are adjusted. Just add the water you want and the pot with do the rest. I will say I prefer paper filters to the permanent filter.

Excellent Coffee Maker

I love this coffee brewer. I had another model of a grind & brew for 12 years and loved it as well but this newer model DGB-800 has some upgrades that I really love. Coffee tastes so much better with freshly ground beans. I would highly recommend this product to any coffee lover!

Brew grind combo machine

Previous to this purchase I had a separate grinder and a drip coffee maker that only brewed 6 cups max. The grind was never consistent due to my not knowing when to stop grinding. It was either too much and the coffee was bitter or not enough and the coffee was too weak. This brew grind machine is perfect! Coffee is consistently great. Doesn’t matter if I’m only brewing 6 cups or the max 12. Coffee is the same! I highly recommend this machine! Best I’ve ever owned!

The Good and the Bad

I’ve have owned 2 DGB 900’s one with glass and one with stainless pot. They lasted 7-8 years each. Since then I bought a DGB 800, (I’ve had 3) the first lasted about 6 months ( it quit brewing), the second lasted about 4 months (it guit brewing also) I’m on the 3rd, now so it’s working, but have had a little over a month. Keeping my fingers crossed, my biggest mistake was going for the less expensive product not knowing it would be such a pan. Thanks Tony

Glad we bought it, works great, coffee is great!

We have been using this coffee maker for about 1 month now, and it has been great so far. Previously we used a spice grinder to grind beans every 1-2 weeks and stored them. Having fresh ground beans daily is a huge difference over pre-ground and the coffee is not bitter. It is easy to just pour beans in the top and let it do the work for you whether you use manual or auto brew. One thing about the unit is the height. It fits under the cabinet with about 1-2 inches of clearance. I have not yet noticed if it creates steam like some of our previous coffee makers, but we have not kept it under the cabinet for now. The grinder isn't too loud, although if I happen to fall asleep in the living room (which is right next to the kitchen) the automatic bean grinder does wake me up - it doesn't wake me up if I am in the bedroom that shares a wall with the kitchen. My husband cleaned the grinder today, it was easy and it took only a few minutes. So far it has been very easy to use and easy to clean. Things we do to keep clean: open it to let it air dry for the day, use filtered water (brita mostly), and change the filters every 2 months. For the price I got it for with a 40% off coupon I am very satisfied. Something for improvement, perhaps having more of selection of grind types, but if you're going from spice grinder to Burr grinder it will be so much better. If the thermal stainless carafe were available at this price for the 12 cup, I would have bought it instead. The only reason I would want the stainless carafe is because I have previously broken the glass types and not because of temperature, the coffee does stay hot in the glass carafe. Overall, we are very happy with the purchase! It has made life easier and coffee taste better!

Our 2nd Cuisinart grind & brew

I’ve liked this Cuisinart grind and brew coffee maker for many years I had this machine prior to this newest one but it was the type that had a thermos carafe and I now think I like that better. Glass carafes on a burner just make the coffee taste burned. That’s a personal ‘like’ more than anything wrong with this brewer. After many years the previous brewer’s bean grinder crapped out. This brewer grinds a perfect amount of beans and brews a great cup of coffee.

2nd time's the charm... Cuisinart made it right

I got a lemon... but Cuisinart made it right. After a short period of time mine began taking 30-45 minutes to brew a pot... and then stop working at all. When it did work it strew grounds all over the counter. Cuisinart made it right... shipping me a new unit. The new unit works like a charm. I couldn't be happier. This is what I expected from the start. This is what I expect from a quality company.
