Set up was extremely easy, and my husband mounted it to a tree for best placement. Video quality is crisp, and motion detection is good. Night vision is surprisingly good as well. The only con is that we happened to change our Wi-Fi shortly after installation and in order to update Wi-Fi settings, you have to physically push a button on the camera. So now we need to get on a ladder to update the Wi-Fi.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The camera is an "Essential 3rd Gen" camera, the view is very detailed it has 2k video and a wide 130° view with the option of color or black and white night vision, the black and white uses less power. The camera is battery powered which you charge via USB. It has an integrated siren you can set to automatically go off when it detects movement or threats you decide what is considered a threat in the app by adjusting the detection settings or you can set it off yourself using the app I love that option and it also has two way audio which is really cool too. Another great feature is the built-in motion activated spot light which I like a lot its a great deterrent. Installing the camera is very simple, and its very easy to set the angle of the camera. Maneuvering through app and settings is pretty self explanatory, instructions are included if you need them. The app has arm away, arm home, and stand by tabs at the top of the app and dashboard, feed, emergency, devices and routine tabs at the bottom. The camera automattically connects using dual band wi-fi, it's super easy, you just enter your wi-fi password in the app and your automatically connected. Im really very happy with this camera and all its features it has everything you coukd ever want in a security camera. I must mention that a plan is needed for full feature options, I'm personally choosing not to sign up and use what's available which is everything I need right now. I looked up what you get with a plan it says you get cloud video storage and the AI features like object detection (person, vehicle, animal, package) and you are able to customize the activity zones. Different plans are available the options include twenty four seven monitoring and response. You can also get support for all of arlo cameras. I love with a plan you can get an emergency response which is great for a lot of people, I personally don't need that option but it's a great option. I plan on replacing my other cameras with these as soon as I can this is a great security camera, I'm very impressed with it.

I've had the ring system for about a year so it was nice to be able to test arlo to the ring camera. The set up for the camera and the app was very easy and straightforward. They provided the hardware for mounting and charging. Comparing with the Ring, there is not much difference in cost for individual cameras. Image quality appears better on arlo. Detection is pretty good. There seemed to be a slight delay on the arlo with motion sensing. The mobile app is simple, and easy to use, and compared to ring, I like that you can still enable alarms through the app even without a plan. Notifications and alerts are sent almost instantly. Some of the security plans offered by arlo are more expensive than ring, but features seem to be comparable. Overall, this is a good camera and I'm glad I was able to compare it with a system I already had. If you want better image quality then I'd choose arlo over ring.

Mine came with a 30-day trial of the Arlo Secure subscription, which gives access to better motion detection, storage, and smart alerts. You can use it without a plan, but the subscription definitely makes it more useful. Some retailers include longer trials, so it depends where you get it. Love that it’s battery powered so you don’t have to haggle with cords. The video quality is absolutely amazing motion detection as fast and it works. Absolutely great. I love how many notifications I can send you or how many you want so you don’t get overwhelmed. It’s weather resistant, which makes it even nicer where I live with a lot of rain and snow. Great for night vision order during the day clear pictures and wonderful quality. I actually wanna buy more this product is absolutely 10 out of 10!!!!!

One thing I loved about the camera was the HD video and the ability to listen to sounds and the ability to talk as well. Works well to keep an eye out on our dog. Also would alert me on my phone when there was motion detected. The reason for the 3 star is it would loose connection and I would have to keep setting it up.
