I grew up in the Midwest where we learned to love Famous Barr French onion soup. I’m always looking for something that might be convenient vs me making a pot. This was a big disappointment. Very thin broth, the onions were not caramelized like a good French onion soup. The package does contain a good amount of shredded cheese and melted nicely. If you have not had a thick, caramelized French onion soup then you might like this but I’m spoiled. Back to making my own.

I honestly don’t understand the negativity here. This french onion soup is delicious! It’s not watered down and it has a ton of yummy onions. I added extra pepper and croutons to it. The cheese melted fine under the broiler in a soup crock. These kits are very convenient and I wish they’d be available all year round. We love them that much! I will say for us, it only came out to two servings per package. It filled my two soup crocks nicely.

Terrible product. This French onion soup was disgusting, but the worst part was the cleanup. It turned into a rubbery glue that stuck to everything. I had to hand wash and scrape it off with my fingers and multiple scrubbing pads, and it still wouldn’t come clean enough for the dishwasher. I’m honestly worried it could clog plumbing because it wouldn’t dissolve at all. Completely gross and not worth buying.

The soup itself was very sweet. Almost like they put in too much sherry/sugar, it was off-putting. Some of the ingredients see unusual like cloves and red wine, traditionally white wine is used instead. I can get better tasting soup from a can or from scratch.

I had high hopes, and was severely let down. I did like the packaging, but thats all. Tons of onions, yet very little onion flavor, which is strange. The soup base is very bland and has a odd tangy flavor. The aftertaste from this soup is honestly awful. Croutons swell up into huge soggy sponges immediately, which is just gross. Don't waste your money.

it's terrible, one reviewer said, it tasted like vinegar, we're totally in agreement. How in the world can Sam's club put this out!!!

This was delivered to me expired? I received the delivery on 2/1/26, the expiration on the package was 1/9/26. How is this even happening. So I guess make sure you check the expiration date on all items delivered because the workers their don't?

Not at all what I expected. The soup is too thin and tastes vinegary! The cheese and crostini included in the kit are good but the soup should be buttery velvety and thicker. Will not be purchasing this again.

Most terrible soup I've ever had! And I love soups! I was very much looking forward to enjoying some French onion soup, but it tastes like vinegar or something, not the traditional flavor of French onion soup!
