A perfect substitute

I purchased this product to help make my favorite baking recipes vegan and I am so impressed. You absolutely cannot tell the difference! I think it’s easier than cracking an egg. The first time I used it I made pumpkin muffins that ended up being the best ive ever eaten. I can not recommend it more highly.

Best cookies I've ever made!

I used this in place of an egg in cookie batter after combining the drys with the creamed sugar and vegan butter. At this point the mixture was crumbly like moon sand. I was SO surprised how when I added that little volume, it bound the mixture so well and didn't have a strange taste like I've heard flax eggs do. The cookie dough was beautifully cohesive and my cookies are the perfect marriage of chewy and crunchy and soft. I was really skeptical this would work in baking how hen eggs do but the cookies are so good and amazing value for the price!

Very disappointed

So far, I’ve tried the egg replacer with brownies, chocolate chip cookies, and muffins, recipes that I have made many times, and none of them have come out well. They always seem underbaked when cooked to the appropriate time, and if I cook them longer, it ends up hard as rocks and still looking underbaked. Since this seems to work for some people, I have to imagine there is some trick that isn’t in the instructions. Would love some trouble shooting advise. I think of Bob’s red mill as a premium brand, so I’m very disappointed that this does not work when following the instructions to the letter.

reply from Customer Service

Thank you for your feedback. We apologize for any issues and frustration that you’ve experienced with our Gluten Free Egg Replacer and thank you for letting us know. Our Gluten Free Egg Replacer can be used in many applications, but generally, it works best in recipes for baked goods that use 3 eggs or less. Baked goods get a lot of structure from eggs so if a recipe calls for more than 3 eggs, or whipped eggs/egg whites, they’ll be harder to replace in a recipe. Recipes that are low in flour compared to eggs, like some brownie recipes may also be harder to modify. Whatever the issue, our products are always guaranteed and we are happy to assist further and you can reach us at customerservice@bobsredmill.com.

My New Baking Favorite!

I bought this because of the egg shortage due to a salmonela outbreak AND Hurricane Helene destroying grocery warehouses in my area. I thought it would be a good way to continue baking for my family. I am absolutely thrilled with this product. I’ve used it in muffins and a scone recipe so far. The baked goods were perfect! My family is thrilled and are coming up with other things for me to bake. I’m so impressed, I plan to keep using Bob’s Red Mill Egg Replacer for all my baking, even when eggs are finally back in stock. It’s way cheaper and really better than eggs because of its shelf life and lack of cholesterol. Thank you for coming to the rescue with such a quality product!

Works well, but made in a facility with tree nuts and soy...

this works great in my pancakes and cookie recipes, however it does have a cross contamination statement for tree nuts and soy. We have a family member who has nut allergies and egg allergies and therefore can't use this product. Would be great if Bob's would major this in an allergen free facility or at least nut free.

Does Not Work Properly

I was very excited for this product as I’m vegan and love many other of their products for a lot of the meals I cook at home. I bought this product in April 2018 and I’ve used this product once for pancakes and once for brownies. It made the product impossible to cook fully as it maintained a gelatinous texture. It also left a plastic taste in my mouth. You’re better off using a flax or chia egg. Very disappointed with this product and will not be buying it again.

Terrible - don't bother!

I was SO excited to use this product to veganize a family Bundt cake recipe. Imagine my terrific disappointment when the cake came out flat - it barely rose, and couldn't sustain what rise it had. The eggs were the only swap; this wasn't an issue of using the wrong butter/milk substitute... likewise, this is a time-tested recipe, and I'm a pretty experienced baker... it is clear that this crummy product was the culprit. I am so disappointed. Save your money, don't bother.
