My husband and I purchased the 16 POE camera set and have been enjoying the many options. The ease of installation was the first thing we noticed. I especially like the following: audio recording, footage in vivid color, white spot light, sharing the NVR, and the ability to view the detection page or my notifications prior to viewing playback. I am an old defender customer. When I listed my house to sell that was one of the features asked if it was staying. This is my second set since selling my previous house. The 4K color is great (clear and vivid). My preference is the wired set. I would definitely recommend this product to others.

The video quality on this system is outstanding. The NVR records without fail. Easy setup. Highly customizable settings if interested. The App also works great and playback is not an issue. My only negative comment is that I get many false motion readings, but it does capture all the real ones too so you are not missing anything. If you want a DIY standalone system that does not require a contract you really can not beat this system. This being a Canadian company was also a selling feature for me too.

I have been using this sentinel camera set up for about a month now. The installation of the cameras was easy to do. It did take some time to hide all the wires, which is to be expected. The NVR was very simple to set up and I did it without any problems. The picture quality is amazing on a 4K tv. I had no issues with setting the app up either. The steps are very well layed out. The quality of the picture during the day is absolutely beautiful. There is an option to record with black and white, or colour, or in smart mode. It’s crazy how in smart mode when motion is detected at night, the scene gets lit up in colour and it is just as good as in the daytime. This was a nice surprise. For most of the camers I kept the sensitivity level on low. When turned up it will pick up rain and you will get a lot of notifications. Turning down the sensitivity helped with this issue. The cameras that are semi protected under an eve also help reduce false alerts. Just something to think about when doing the camera placement. I really like the app. It’s easy to find and play your motion alerts. It has a playback feature that you can watch all your alerts for each camera. After playing the first video, it jumps to the next one automatically. We’ve had problems with bears in our neighborhood, so I use the playback feature to view captured motion alerts that happen at night. Overall I have had a good experience with the defender 4K Sentinel security system. I highly recommend this system if you want or need a good quality system with the best quality of picture. It’s nice that the price doesn’t break the bank too!

This is my second set of defender cameras. My first set I got over 10 years ago and I was really pleased with them so I decided to upgrade and get the newest version. This 4K system is absolutely amazing. The quality of the photos, the video, and my favorite part of it all is the motion sensors that I get alerts for directly to my phone. I strongly recommend anyone in the market for a great security camera system defender is the one.

The video quality on this system is great and setup is a breeze. Motion detection is somewhat hit-and-miss so as part of a security system you would still want more precise intrusion sensors, however, this works great to provide recordings of past/event activity for future reference.

I purchased this system to upgrade my old camera system. The picture quality is top notch during day or night vision. The audio was also an upgrade as my old system did not have any audio capability. The app is also very powerful and quick. The ability to see, monitor and make changes from my phone is very convenient. I love this system and would recommend this and purchase this again.

Giving it 4 stars because it is a good system with nice quality cameras but: 1. It came with a faulty Cat5e cable, it has power but no connection is detected. 2. The human body alarm is faulty when camera is set on an angle, I have one installed at my porch area and it keeps thinking the tree or even my front door mat is a human body.. 3. The night vision light can be a bit annoying sometimes, I don't think I've found a promising solution to have it turned off completely or not that sensitive.

Install and set up was easy. Running wires in the attic is a challenge but would be for any brand. Recommend that you test all equipment and then pull wires and mount cameras. Note for possible improvement would be to use a better quality adjustment screws. They strip out very easily. Suggest using a high quality torx head screw. Had a problem with a couple of the cameras going offline, not sure why. I rebooted the NVR and they all reconnected. I had Lorex cameras for many years and I believe these are better quality and set up was much easier.

The Defender Alarm System is AWESOME!!! The cameras now clearly monitor our hallways. We previously had major issues with students running up & down our hallways. The cameras recorded very clear & distinct photos that were given to the local high school. Problem solved!! The pictures on the monitor alert our staff when there is activity in the office. We love our system and Our staff are feeling very secure & safe. Patient & staff safety are Our #1 concern. ‘Wish We had installed The Defender System before. It’s very user friendly & We can observe any movement from across the room. Recently the hydro was out (4hrs) the emergency lighting allowed Our office to carry on as usual. Less stress, NO more worries! Thank YOU Defenders!

These are top notch quality camera's made out of metal. Purchased this 8 camera Sentinel Ultra HD series about 3 weeks ago and I am happy I upgraded. I had an older 8 camera 1080p setup from a different company and this one blows it away with the quality. People talking about quality issues have it setup wrong, or have other factors creating the issue. These camera's have infrared and led lights, which can be configured to be used or not. Coloured night vision is amazing and is best used with the led lights on the camera or other supplied light. You can configure it to be colour night vision with no infrared led or led lights turning on (daylight mode) but if you don't have enough light it will look dark and wont be able to see anything. People talking about false alerts are correct it will do that from time to time if not configured correctly. There are settings to configure the sensitivity of the dectection as well you are able to block certain area's suchs as tree's, bushes, or other things that move constantly with the wind blowing triggering the alerts. Once these area's are blocked they will not trigger the event and you will not get false alerts. No company has perfected this as you will see from many reviews of false alerts from any brand. However you can minimize it when its configured properly. I have mine set to record continously as well with motion this way you can get the full picture and also have a general idea when the event occured. The system is really easy to configure, but if you do have any problems contact support and they can guide you through to get it configured just how you like. If you are looking for a quality camera system, or even upgrading from an older system this is the one to get! One cord for each camera, easy setup plug and play, no extra power cords, no changing/charging batteries especially when its -30 lol
