Bought this system for my garage area and Alley.  I had the last model for my house and was pretty happy with it, great picture, good value, nice iphone app.   This new model has all the things I liked about the last model, but upgraded software on the NVR box.  Its easier to setup, the interface looks sleeker, and setup process was faster.  Most of the time I check the alerts and views on my iphone app, and it can show you all the motion alerts with a nice little link that takes you to the right spot in your recording, from there you can watch, skip back or forward to get more context. I like the look of the cameras, they feel pretty sturdy, and you can set them up to have a security light type response, or go more stealth with just the infrared option.  Setting that up took a bit of poking around in the menu, but now that its setup, I have it setup differently per camera, which is nice.  I like that I can add up to 4 additional cameras if I need later, 4 was enough for my needs now though. I also really like the POE format, power of ethernet, which means one cable sends power and picture/sound signals, no need for extra wires, and you can use most any cat5 type ethernet cable (this comes in handy if you need to setup outlet plates and a few dis-connectable wires).  Another bonus to having this wired system is its harder for thieves to use wireless camera disrupters to block signals. II was already able to get footage right off my phone for a neighbor when someone broke into their adjacent property to send to the police.

This is a great security camera with great features. The hardware is pretty good and easy to connect. The setting up the devices app is very smooth. The instructions are pretty accurate. The features of camera like setting up the color of the video recording and images is outstanding. Motion detection and night vision which are the main best features of the security camera is excellent. The only downside of this, is that this is wired camera therefore installing this by yourself is not that easy. If you want to run the wires clean in the house you have to do it in the ceiling along with electrical wirings and it may require professionals. For DIYers can still be done with a careful consideration of the aesthetic of the house. Other than that this security camera is perfect for the price and its features.

Replaced my old nightowl bnc system with this one. Great upgrade. Picture quality is a whole lot nicer. The app to see what is going on at home while your gone is great as well. System looks well made. Cameras have some weight to them and feel like good quality. Forewarning the nvr was set to human detection at first start up and does beep if there is anyone outside in the camera field of view. Kinda scared the bajesus out of us.

I purchased a couple months back and I got to tell you it's a great product. It's relatively user friendly. The only downside is customer service which I understand and respect and hopefully that will change the staff is good at getting back to you ASAP when confronted with an issue..

My husband and I purchased the 16 POE camera set and have been enjoying the many options. The ease of installation was the first thing we noticed. I especially like the following: audio recording, footage in vivid color, white spot light, sharing the NVR, and the ability to view the detection page or my notifications prior to viewing playback. I am an old defender customer. When I listed my house to sell that was one of the features asked if it was staying. This is my second set since selling my previous house. The 4K color is great (clear and vivid). My preference is the wired set. I would definitely recommend this product to others.

These are top notch quality camera's made out of metal. Purchased this 8 camera Sentinel Ultra HD series about 3 weeks ago and I am happy I upgraded. I had an older 8 camera 1080p setup from a different company and this one blows it away with the quality. People talking about quality issues have it setup wrong, or have other factors creating the issue. These camera's have infrared and led lights, which can be configured to be used or not. Coloured night vision is amazing and is best used with the led lights on the camera or other supplied light. You can configure it to be colour night vision with no infrared led or led lights turning on (daylight mode) but if you don't have enough light it will look dark and wont be able to see anything. People talking about false alerts are correct it will do that from time to time if not configured correctly. There are settings to configure the sensitivity of the dectection as well you are able to block certain area's suchs as tree's, bushes, or other things that move constantly with the wind blowing triggering the alerts. Once these area's are blocked they will not trigger the event and you will not get false alerts. No company has perfected this as you will see from many reviews of false alerts from any brand. However you can minimize it when its configured properly. I have mine set to record continously as well with motion this way you can get the full picture and also have a general idea when the event occured. The system is really easy to configure, but if you do have any problems contact support and they can guide you through to get it configured just how you like. If you are looking for a quality camera system, or even upgrading from an older system this is the one to get! One cord for each camera, easy setup plug and play, no extra power cords, no changing/charging batteries especially when its -30 lol

The whole system comes well packaged in the box. Everything is nice, clean, and tidy which you'll see is carried on in the whole system and software. Everything is quality and is as simple to set up as possible. The hardest part for me was running the cables through the attic and finding the best locations for the cameras (about 8 feet or slightly higher), but it was well worth doing. Everything else was easy. The cameras themselves are solid in construction, and they produce clear images day and night. They seriously blow my old wired 720p system out of the water and are superior to my wireless 2k cameras. In addition, they have sound. My children have been in a few minor fights with each other and the sound really helps put what happened into perspective. With the sound I actually know why the fight happened. Unlike my old wired system, there is only 1 Ethernet cord per camera that goes from the NVR into the attic and out to the camera. You won't need to run a separate power cable. I'm very happy with everything. I love knowing that I can access the cameras remotely on my phone and not just on the DVR. You'll hear and see everything you need to and you'll have the ability to eliminate false alarms such as leaves falling, birds flying by, dogs walking by, etc, and just detect humans.

We've used Defender systems for many years and run a number of their systems and devices. We recently updated to the Defender 4K Sentinel POE system and pleased to have done so! The setup was simple, well documented, great image quality, ease of updates and love the functionality coupled with the Defender Empower App, that we use on both IOS and Android devices.

The Sentinel system is exactly what I have been looking for! We loved the easy set up with 1 cable for footage and power! We didn't have to worry about power adapters or power bars. The great 4k resolution with motion detection is awesome! I have 1 camera in the backyard to check what critters that may be running by after the winter thaw!

My overall impression of the 8 Channel 4K Sentinel NVR is very good. The system came well packaged with each camera packaged in it's own box. It was a breeze to setup with the cameras truly being plug and play. The NVR and accompanying app were configured within 10 minutes of unboxing. By far the most difficulty is running your cables to your camera locations. Take your time and plan where you'd like your cameras and the routes you have access to for the cable runs! The image quality of the cameras is fantastic and far surpasses the wireless cameras I used previously. The accompanying app is intuitive and easy to use. I was surprised at how little bandwidth this system uses. There are many options which can be configured around motion detection, notifications and schedules. Setting up and using this system has been a great experience and has provided a lot of value in a nice DIY package.
