Weird latch

I bought this microwave for my son’s home. His previous microwave sat above his built-in oven. The oven door opened easily when putting the plate of food to reheat; the door hung up at the top. As soon as it was pulled out of its cubby hole and placed on the stool below its perch-the door would open. Weird I know-but it happened numerous times-we began calling the stool magical.
